In a recent interview with Rick Ross, T-Pain’s comments about rappers’ reluctance to work with openly gay crooner Frank Ocean, and the reception of genre-bending artists like Macklemore came up. This raised the issue of alienation of certain lifestyles and exclusion of different types of expression within Hip Hop. Ross asserted that everyone should do what they want on both fronts, stating that “your personal life is your personal life” and “you can’t tell nobody which direction to take their art.”
