First of all, we need to know what the term actually means. I don’t speak Yiddish and don’t know any one who does so I have no idea what the denotation and connotation of the term are.

Secondly, offensive and derogetory language is offensive and derogetory no matter who it’s directed at… Black, Jew, White, Asian… it doesn’t matter. Directing it at one group is no better than directing it at another. We need to find better ways of dealing with people who use such language rather than hurling it right back at them… it’s counterproductive.

Ummm genetic testing has showed many of the various Jewish groups all do share a very common ancestory be they Jews from Europe or Jews on the Asian continent. And they all share close ties with their Arabic cousins. So I’d say those “white bastards” are “the Jews”.

Well “negro” is a term used in Spanish to describe the color Black. However, prior to the shift in the lexicon of American and worldwide classification of race and ethnicity in the late 1960s, the appellation was accepted as a normal neutral formal term both by those of Black African descent as well as non-African blacks. Now it is often considered an ethnic slur.

Today the term “Negro” is still used and it means “black” in Spanish, Portuguese, and ancient Italian; all of these derive from the Latin niger (i.e. “black”).

From what I read “schwartza” is a Hebrew word that means Black and this is why I mentioned the Latin use of the word “negro” because that’s the only word we have and it is not a racial slur but a word that means BLACK.

In conclusion I was raised with my mom’s side of the family racist against my father’s side who were Black/Mexican’s. Although “negro” isn’t a racial slur in Spanish the way My mom’s father said it was very disrespectful and hateful due to his racism against Blacks but the word itself just means black.

Maybe Mr. Mason needs to mind they way in which he talks about people in general.

I am quite sure that we are all born neutral and life has a way of forcing stereotypes on all of us based on what we view in our surroundings. When Mayor David Dinkins became the first elected black mayor of New York City in a particularly low point in race releations in the City, Jackie Mason called him a schwartze who “could shine his shoes”. It is not that he called Pres. Obama a schwartze, but that he always makes a racist joke regarding a prominent black official. He would never call Chris Rock a schwartze, because Chris Rock poses no political threat to the white and/or jewish power structure.

I think the kids in this country are lucky. they see this place thru eyes that have never graced our country before. when i see young kids running around at the mall or walking home from school, i am always so happy that they clearly mix it up like never before. Even back in the day when i was in college and we all got along i guess, you would never see diff races eating together. I think some of those subtle changes are coming!

The comedian is old and who knows how much time he has.

As long as the public perception of black people in America is so negative, white comics, politicians, and any other public persona is going to be called out for using negative imagery in relation to blacks as well as minorities. It has not been that long, less than 50 years, that Blacks, comedians or Blacks period, could say anything in jest about Whites without having to worry about being beaten, jailed, or killed. The best he can say for himself is that Black comics make jokes about white people? Is that with or without venom? I’ve heard observations, that are accurate descriptions of things that happen in life. Like white cops shooting an unarmed Black man 41 times, for instance. Those same comedians also point out negative things about Black people. What exactly is the point of the comparison? A man of his age certainly knows whether or not he’s okay with racism coming out of HIS mouth – regardless of what comes out of the mouths of others in his profession. Sharpton has been looking out for Blacks on the national level for decades. Who else does that? What have you done for our people on any level? He wears his hair like James Brown wore his. To the Blacks on here calling other Blacks hypersensitive hypocrites, people know whether or not they feel offended. If your life experiences with other races have been all good – you get a cookie! But, don’t tell other people that they have no right to their feelings. To the white people on here (whites – primarily but I’ve seen hispanics in Black face on their television channels before and we all know the Asians can’t stand us so it’s not just white folks), from all walks of life keep the institution of racism alive and well. If you don’t believe me look at any blog, or website from YouTube to your local newspaper’s site, and look at the derogatory comments about Blacks that white people leave after just about every story. That happens even without there being any Blacks mentioned in the piece at all! The racist remarks really come out when there are Black folks in the story though. One idiot even lumped Michelle Obama in with unwed mothers who don’t want to support their children! True talk, any excuse to say something bad about Black folks, especially when you can do it anonymously! Deal with your own, before you come reprimanding us!

Nobody is saying you can’t feel offended but one you need to understand taking offense and crying at EVERYTHING said about our race weakens our position. After a while nobody wants to hear it and even the other minorities that should be on our side get tired of the crap.
Secondly there are a bunch of hypocrites on here because I promise you if a white person expressed distaste about a racist joke that makes up the life blood of so many of our esteemed black comics they’d be told ignorant crap like it’s THEIR fault the comedian is telling a racist joke and or since it’s a black comic it can’t possibly be racist. Which is utter garbage. My interpersonal relationships with other races haven’t been rosy I can’t go a month without arguing with some other race in defense of blacks in America. About what they do not know or care to know but in those dialogues I have picked up some things that they are saying that are legitimate concerns that if more black people would listen to maybe we wouldn’t have such a problem with race as we do.
And one of those things is stop letting other people dictate to you so much. Let some of the minor crap go stop being a group of crybabies and blame placers. I know the racism against blacks in America is there and likely spreading but we have got to stop feeding into the crap they say about us if we want to make any head way into stopping it.

I agree with the comedian. Really, it’s just not that big of a deal. I disagree, I think he is sticking his neck out and its being exposed. And im glad that if he needs to use special words to describe people that it is made clear what in fact those words mean. Any race can become over sensitive but I doubt this man speaks in all yiddish so its a slang word and PROB doesnt mean anything nice. I would bet on that.
