Quote of the Day

Posted by Bossip Staff

Nas Album Pushed Back

Nas recently discussed his album ‘Nigger’ and one of the tracks, ‘The Fear of The Black Man’s Di*k:

It’s about the attacks that have happened to blacks, whites, all ethnicities…’Mick’ niggers, ‘guinea’ niggers, ‘kike’ niggers. I have a song called ‘You a Nigger Too.’

On ‘The Fear of The Black Man’s Di*k:

“That’s some shit you can get comedy [from], or you can get some seriousness from it when you talk about the barbaric castrations that happened in our past – which is very serious, nothing to laugh at.”

  1. Mahogany

He’s sexy as all get out.

  2. Mahogany

Just wanted to come very off topic because I know this post will be a hoot.

  3. Look@urself

this is all too bad lol

  4. DR. FUNK

The hype machine for this joint has been in OVERDRIVE for a coupla’ months now.STILL NOT PURCHASING IT.He’s got this reputation as a “conscious rapper”.I’d say he was a “conscious PR master.”

  5. CubaLinda

Can’t wait to hear this CD~ think it will actually be worth paying for…

  6. I thought we buried the word. Did he not get the memo?

  7. Killmatic

This will be the most overhyped and disappointing record of all time. I guarantee that the content of these songs will NOT match the interest the titles will bring. Nas is overrated. I’m not a Jay fan, but he was right, “ONE HOT RECORD EVERY 10 YEAR AVERAGE…”

    …and that’s so laaaaaame…

Nas. Give up the record biz. You’re done.

  8. Looove this man!!

    I’m still buyin’ the album!

  9. Poor thang, even HE doesn’t really believe Jay-Z and Def Jam are looking out for his best interest and he will get proper promotion that is why he is going with the brash title in order to try to get enough interest to generate adequate sells???? Poor man!!!!

This is what happens when you don’t take advantage of what you are given and flurish it!!! Nas should be on his way to a billion dollars like Jay-Z and 50.

Sad part about it…..he help BOTH of the above named make it to where they are today and now look at him and his wife

He still fine as HELL though. Even with the added marriage pounds he has packed on for Kelise cooking for him on the regs lol.

NAS, don’t worry baby…I look and sing better than that mess you call your wife so CALL ME LOL!!! I promise I won’t get dropped lol.

  10. Kdogg

    Son, Son, Son,Son, Son,

    Yo, Yo, Yo, Yo,…

  19. DR. FUNK

    @JUSTMOI:

“MICK” was a slur aimed at Irish immigrants.

“GUINEA” was a slur aimed at darker skinned

Italian immigrants. You can still hear it

used amongst people of that ancestry in

much the same way we use “*****”.It’s

more of an East Coast/New York thing

    though.

  20. kai

Oh my goodness thats even worse LMFAO. An IRISH MICK *****?

  21. Narcotics Anonymous

    basically…

  22. GOD BODY RUBENSTEIN

The fact is the hype is created… He will sell records… He will go on tour…

And that, my friends, is the modern day music biz.

Nas is still one of the best MCs of all time. There is no doubt about it. He will make a statement about with this album.

  23. Soul Cry

…you know…I like Nas…I do believe that he attempts to be a strong black figure in the rap game, BUT, I find allot of his works are contradictory. And, I find him disappointing in his interviews because he is not as well-spoken as I thought he would be.

  24. DEE

I LOVE NAS, AND I AM TIRED OF DUMB ***** PEOPLE THINKING THIS MAN IS NOT FINANCIALLY STABLE JUST BECAUSE HIS ACCOUNT INFO IS NOT PUT ON BLAST LIKE YOUR FAVORITE RAPPER! JAY Z LIES SO MUCH, I AM SURE HE DOESN’T HAVE AS MUCH MONEY AS ITS PORTRAYED. EVEN PUFFY ADMITTED 2 YEARS AGO THAT HE DOESN’T HAVE WHAT THEY WERE SAYING HE HAD IN C-A-S-H! DUMB *****S!

  25. shann934

If you know someone who is on prescription medicine go to http://www.nulegacyrxcard.com/sjackson to print off a FREE prescription drug card that saves up to 75%. Just print it off and use it.

  26. Dalia

    He is an ignorant *****.

  27. justmoi

    @ Dr Funk

Thank you for that, I’m from London and hadn’t heard the terms used before and was slightly baffled for a minute.

  28. JerseyBred

You can tell he reads a lot about racism.

He put it in blunt terms, but that is the main reason why White bigoted men harbor so much animosity towards Blk men. This was noted in the Isis Papers.

After a Blk man was castrated, his *****s would be sewn onto a string so as to create a necklace.

  29. JRiddles

I don’t see a problem with a well-versed rapper like Nas who understand the true meaning of Hip-Hop expressing himself in that way. I see where he’s coming from. I really like how he turns serious cultural and historical issues into ones that we can understand, learn from, and laugh about. I would buy his album and I think it’s sad that people just can’t wait to buy 50’s new album (which all he focuses on is money, *****es, cars, crime) or Soulja Boy (who sucks and thank God his song comes with a dance and thank God it’s catchy) and they are even doubting Nas who ahs proved hismelf. History shows that money and record sales don’t always equate to talent. Britney sold mor than India Arie. Common isn’t as popular as Hurricane Chris amogn high school students. At least Nas is educating us and making us bop our heads.

  30. Kdogg

He should title it “*****: An Autobiography.”

  31. JerseyBred

    Soul Cry

…you know…I like Nas…I do believe that he attempts to be a strong black figure in the rap game, BUT, I find allot of his works are contradictory. And, I find him disappointing in his interviews because he is not as well-spoken as I thought he would be.

    *****************************************************

It really annoys me to hear, see, & read his interviews. I’d rather he rhyme than speak.

Too many entertainers out there need a speech coach.

  32. WeSSide Eviscer8r

    @ Jerseybred:

“…& the Euro slave trade came out of West Africa.”

LOL. Exclusively?…That was the point. I would feel awful if u thought i’d forgotten about ur incorrect statement! Have a nice day, in the truest sense of the term.

  33. *****ie Simms

He should call it: a “*****” is a fool who buys into my profiteering off their continued slavery.

But then, if you’re looking into this inarticulate culture pimp to get your knowledge on: he’ll be just fine, and y’all won’t be.

    “*****” my *****.

  34. Soul Cry

    @JerseyBred

It’s so damn disappointing. And you’re right, he needs to just rap through his interviews.

  35. Kdogg

“At least Nas is educating us and making us bop our heads.”

    —————————————————

I agree that he is better than most of the others out there, but to say that he is educating us is a stretch. He wants to be relevant, he wants to SEEM socially conscious but really, they are all exploiting us and our culture to finance their lifestyles. Our people put way too much stock into what these “entertainers” have to say. Just because Nas can use complete sentences, people act like he is Frederick Douglas or Dubois. In the end he is just another field slave/overseer that thinks he’s made it because M*****a lets him get a little crumbs more than the rest of the *****s. However don’t let him get out of pocket or M*****a will remind him who is in charge. So in order to keep M*****a happy, the Field slave/Overseer/rapper is using music to whip us other field slaves into the proper behavior/ way of thinking.

That’s why we are described as the Hip-Hop culture. We are being fed filth, violence, sex, despair, drugs, and misogyny through music and being told to accept it as our culture. We will defend it tooth and nail.

The true *****s will deny and defend this culture, without ever looking at the statistics. It’s like we have Battered Wives or Stockholm Sydrome. We will deny the problem and defend the cause of the problem while remaining captive to it.

Knowing the influence that the media which includes our music has on our young people, I think most of mainstream hiphop and R&B is guilty of cultural genocide.

  36. He reminds me of 5 percenters. These negroes get all in their 5% studies, but if you ask them to articulate some good old fashioned English, they can’t do it to save their lives. I think Nas is intelligent and just needs to take a few English cl*****es so he can learn to speak. I have no doubt he will do the CD title justice.

  37. K Dogg

At the risk of sounding contradictory I must say you took em to church on that one. It’s a very sad state we’re in.

  38. JPEEZY

Nas is going about all of this the WRONG way. Okay, we get what he’s trying to do, we get what he’s trying to say….we get it. But “*****” tho? Come on now.

All I’m sayin’ is, this ***** better be fiya (fire)! Cuz if it ain’t, Nas is gonna be taking a whole lotta heat for that *****ty *****, racial slurring, garbage he calls an album.

And I love me some Nas too….chipped tooth and all, but damn, I think the boy is just trying to hard. Hip Hop ain’t dead my friend, you just fell off.

  39. Nikki

Nas is the best ***** the haters and the preaching **********ers talking about what kind of state black people are in, go do something about it then if u feel that way *****er.

FIY Hip Hop is dead, Nas is a legend whether he fell off or not.

  40. ohnoudient

    ^ @kdogg -

This is all PR hype. Nas’ day is long gone. He’s starting to sound desperate. The word n…. could apply to him, though, since that’s exactly what he’s acting like, playing to white media at our expense.

Most rappers that take to enticing rather than bringing the verses with the platform they have are scrambling to sell CDs. 50, I believe, is the best example. After his first, his sales, while good, are nowhere near his first. So, they use their marketing skills, meaning starting beefs or getting ppl angry, whatever it takes. However, most ppl that listen to hip hop are disappointed in the end. You know the deal, one good track on the whole CD. Eventually, ppl will learn they are just being manipulated. Even the females are getting into it. Lil Kim is trying Remy. Foxy is still trying to compete with Kim, even down to getting locked up b/c Lil Kim couldn’t do ANYTHING that Foxy can’t do. Is that insanity or what?

To make a long story short, this is the only thing that keeps their name out there b/c we all know it’s not their CDs.

  41. What a cl*****y guy!

  42. Can a white guy use the N-word?

  43. Bahama Mama

That’s why we are described as the Hip-Hop culture. We are being fed filth, violence, sex, despair, drugs, and misogyny through music and being told to accept it as our culture. We will defend it tooth and nail.

We are bieng FED IT?? So some of these things emcees not rappers real emcees spit on isn’t going on in our community?? what do call the death of Sean Taylor?? What do call the death of Mannie fresh’s sis? Violence isn’t just hip-hop, isn’t just america it’s worldwide. We DON’T have to accpect it when it’s looking us in the face.

  44. WeSSide Eviscer8r

    @ Nikki

“…and the preaching **********ers talking about what kind of state black people are in, go do something about it then if u feel that way *****er…”

if someone is on this site, speaking candidly, articulately and p*****ionately about the state of our condition, then they ARE doing something about IT.

*ALARM RiNgiNg*. Do u hear that? Time to wake up, lil’ homie.

BTW, Hip-Hop is dead..i did c that memo here on my desk…but in case u didn’t know, being ignant ” is on its way out too. It’s called survival of the fittest and u sound like u ain’t too fit.

  45. Unkle Kracka

Well i hole hartedly indorce this cd, i find in refreshin when a niggra nos an acepts his title in life, hes one of the good ones.

  46. Kdogg

“We are bieng FED IT?? So some of these things emcees not rappers real emcees spit on isn’t going on in our community?? ”

Yet we get mad when the Mainstream Media describes suspects as being blacks, urban youths, thugs, or posts their mug shots or profiles. When our actors take steroypical roles we get mad. When whites dress up as stereotypical blacks, we get mad. This bothers us b/c it portrays us negatively in the media. The music industry is “the media.” HipHop is “the media.”

“what do call the death of Sean Taylor?? ”

An unfortunate statistic. that has become part of the culture. What do you call the perps My*****e pics? I’m sure they learned that from their parents.

    “Violence isn’t just hip-hop, isn’t just america it’s worldwide.”

True, but tell that to a black man between the ages of 15 and 29 who is six times more likely to be murdered than a white man and most likely will murdered by another black person.

  47. Kdogg

    @ WeSSide Eviscer8r

Thanks, I’m Nikki was directing that statement at me. I was getting that “ignant ” vibe from her as well. That’s why I chose not to respond. Any thing that I said wouldve been “Whoosh!, over her head. I don’t have a problem with someone disagreeing with me, but at least try to be civil and intelligent about it.

  48. Kdogg

    That was supposed to be:

    “I’m sure Nikki”

  49. WeSSide Eviscer8r

i wonder if ignant azz Kracka ever has his comments await moderation? There must be a way for Bossip to prevent that thing from posting…or, like the Atlantic slave trade, is it an inside job?

*darting glances from left to right*

  50. Bahama Mama

Kdogg you make good points don’t get me wrong. But it’s like some ppl. wanna go ahead and make Hip Hop a scapegoat for the crap that’s wrong in the black commuinty…It’s NOT JUST hip hop…and even that real HIP HOP…COMMON.Talib.MOS. the guys most ppl ain’t never even heard of..They are speaking on it trying to get something done about it…but the “media” goes str8 to the crappy rap..not hip hop there is a difference and say hey these fools are what’s to blame for the state the black community is in, which isn’t fair…

  51. Observatrice

cosign with Kdogg. Nas is trying to be profund, but he’s just peddlin’ *****.

  52. Bahama Mama

True, but tell that to a black man between the ages of 15 and 29 who is six times more likely to be murdered than a white man and most likely will murdered by another black person.

^^ i’ve seen that stat…and while they might listen to rap/hip hop….it all comes down to knowing RIGHT FROM WRONG. And these young folks doing all the killing and stealing that line for them is blurred…how got that way though has to with their upbringing (i believe)

  53. miami man

Take em to school kdogg. Nas is an opportunist, nothing more, nothing less. He’s attempting to wrap this exploitive piece of garbage, in a concious wrapping, and people are actually buying it???! Call the album Cracker if you want to prove a point; but I bet he doesn’t have the heart, so, quit shaming our people!

  54. Ariel Yahudah

Big up to NAS because the world is so fascinated with the loins of the black man because we are the Sons of Elohim(which means GOD’s Son). This why the the Lincoln Memorial, the Nations Capital, and the city of Boston, is made or design in the image of the Black mans(Hebrew Israelites) *****. Word UP Son this album is going to be hot..

  55. WeSSide Eviscer8r

    @ Kdogg

I look forward to reading ur posts. Keep ‘em comin!

    @ miami man:

Call the album Cracker if you want to prove a point; but I bet he doesn’t have the heart, so, quit shaming our people!

    ——————————————————–

excellent point. NEVER would he call it Cracker because, ultimately, that is who signs that N*66*z paycheck. Culture vulture, indeed.

    *rolls eyes and sighs*

  56. memchee

whatever nas is up to…..he could’ve come up with a better title than ni**!r given the controversy and concern over the use of the word in our community and music.

The album will not be as politically enlightning as it could be given his suspect reasoning for tackling and labeling such a project.

Nas and other irresponsible rappers need to man up and try to at least correct the problem that rap music is stimulating in our community rather than continue to try and defend what everyone knows has enabled a political problem inside and outside of our community.

To take the route that he and other rappers are taking shows immaturity, continued selfishness, a lack of social responsibility and greed that only going to facilitate a stronger backlash against rap and hip hop culture that started out fun and entertaining until eazy e and too short entered the game with profanity and gangsta hype.

  57. CubaLinda

In the 1950s rock-and-roll was for underrepresented societal groups, which in the 1960s, became allied with the youth and students through rock-and-roll and the Vietnam War. It was a student movement encouraged by rock-and-roll that anc*****d the political weight of other movements. In the 70s, hip hop came out da ghettoes, sociologically mirroring the birth of rock and roll BUT in a different historical context. Hip hop today is represented to mainstream America by rap, which is disseminated commercially as a nihilist promotion of hedonism, violence, promiscuity, sexism, and homophobia. We only see glorification of these swinish values, in and of themselves which is far from hip hop’s original intent. Da originall goal was to solicit potential allies of the lower cl*****es, thru popular culture, to join in the fight against oppression. Raps popularity grew leading into the 90s and stays great, but large-scale social change will never ensue; and our goals will remain unfulfilled. I wonder why rock and roll was able to influence the American political system more successfully than hip hop?

White people like to say that the rock and roll era created an equal society and that hip hop has no problems left to solve- so it is okay to promote drugs, thugs and hoes, there’s no oppression to overcome… We all know the critical messages of oppression and inequality were diluted and taken out of context in the late 1980s by corporate rap {thanks Hammer}. ‘Message rappers’ like Nas struggle to stay true to the original subversive cause, but they cater to a small audience because of corporate rejection and sometimes fall in to the Hip- Hop trap. Mainstream America never really heard hip hop’s plea for help b/c it was shelved. Popular culture/ Hip Hop was the last medium of expression available to the ghetto and has been conquered by corporations and thats why all our music has no culture or social value- its aimed to devalue and poison our minds with negativity. Unfortunately, the American political, economic, and social system only is seriously disturbed when a group with money and power is dissatisfied. In that light, rock and roll’s captivation of youth and its infiltration into the middle and upper cl*****es transformed the issue of inequality from a social undercurrent to a volatile political firecracker, whereas hip hop’s hostile message, even with rap’s booming popularity, largely stayed within the boundaries of our individually politically feeble minority communities. Its no coincedence that they have stifled Hip-Hop from becoming a successful powerful movement of the people. They bought us and we sold out with out a fight. We took the bling and high-tailed our social influence right on to the back of the bus. A fed man is a kept man- as long as these Rappers are eating good and living right- they are not gooing to step too far out of pocket…

  58. What

Black men don’t control anything in this world on a big scale so why are people scared? White men run *****. Unfortunately, black men are dying and going to jail in big numbers. While white men are getting educated, stronger, and richer.

  59. Unkle Kracka

    Couldn’t have said it better.

His content is certainly not PC, but do your research on the castrations that occurred back in slavery times…he isn’t exactly lying when he refers to the fear of the Black man’s “member”…

  68. Unkle Kracka

Well i aint to fond of the niggra member myself, i hold it responsibol for the brakeup of my last relashunship, in fact i wrote a song with my mama to ease the pain, heh, heh

    Time and time again

It’s enough to make a man throw up

    And it’s hard to figure

What would make a decent white girl

    ***** a greasy *****!

  69. DR. FUNK

    @CUBA LINDA:

1)I don’t see Nas as a “MESSAGE RAPPER”.I see him as a PR creation.Much like these thrift shop jeans-wearing rockers…with the private jets & pads in Aspen.(nothing wrong with that btw)I think rap with an important message rarely happens by design.(same with other music)Usually the rappers who deliver an important message don’t recognize it until after the fact.(opinion)

2)Rap/Hip Hop’s social/political wheel has ALWAYS run a little slower than it’s commercial wheel.I think you’re granting too much power to that MONOLITHIC CORPORATE/WHITE power structure.I think that mindset *****umes incorrectly that those “IN POWER” will always be there…& always be the same set of people.

    3) Can I steal that “SWINISH VALUES” phrase?;->

    Pretty cool.

  70. seekingsugarcom

What a stupid boy! But it is so minor conparing to another saying that he join an service seekingsugarcom. you know it is a rich men seeking sugar babies site and Rhys uploaded some of his nude pictures there.. you can guess what he is doing there..

  71. yes

sounds like nas’ has been reading “hung” by scott poulson-bryant, i recommend everyone read it

  72. Topaz Vixxen

Whateva, Unkle Kracka. We all know you go home and beat off while thinking about some sweet black ***** that you will never, ever get.

    That’s *****uming you even have a *****…..

  73. Unkle Kracka Must Die!

Co-Sign Topaz Vixxen. I think that **********a is black with too much time on her/his *****.

  74. MEME

I see MANY don’t even listen Nas’s music…… and if many people had a problem wit’ Nas namin’ his album *****…… They would be protestin’ outside of Def Jam’s offices instead of complainin’ about it on the net……

Nas certainly has his creative right to name his project whatever title he wants….. and Nas bein’ PR Machine????…… Don’t think so, he has already left his dent into Hip-Hop, and it will always be there ***** album or not…….

And Nas certainly isn’t the 1st rapper to put the word in his word in his album title…. so look how hypocritical most people up here sound….. “Nas is lookin’ for a payday this, Nas just wants record sales that”…… listen…… Go to the RIAA website…. and you will see for yourself that Nas’s album sales are substaintly good……

And where the hell where everyone when N.W.A had efilforzaggiN????…….. Where the hell where y’all when O.D.B had the “***** Please” album????….. Jay when he had “Jigga My *****”???…. or when A Tribe Called Quest had “Sucka *****” that song pretty much explains why black people use the word to begin wit’….. hell where the hell where y’all when ***** Gregory titled his book “*****”….. prolly purchasin’ it because it sold 7 million copies….

And I aint see *****ody boycottin’ Richard Pryor and Paul Mooney’s comedy routine…. and guarantee that Paul Mooney STILL uses the word ***** in his routine….. I aint see *****ody boycottin’ Quentin Tarantino’s movies…. and he’s a white man…. whose white character’s uses the word…….

Authors can name their books *****, comedians can use the word *****, film directors can use the word *****….. it gets accepted by black people…. but as soon as a rapper does it….. especially one wit’ a message…. people are quick to dismiss it as ignorant….. I think Nas was right when he said “if you think I’mma name my album ***** and not have anything intelligent to say…. that’s basically callin’ me a *****….”

So I don’t get why NOW people wanna get on Nas’s case…..

Nas is a man who certainly knows his history….. and he’s a smart dude…… He knows what he’s doin’…. yea it’s bold…. but Nas is smart man…. Nas do you….. don’t worry what others have to say….

Lol @ “Nas is the best” – from someone who has a Keyshia Cole avatar. Bet you know talent when you hear it, don’t you? You still bumping that Kobe f/ Tyra Banks single? Lol

Dear Nas aka “I go by N now, just one syllable” (Um, Nas is one syllable. N is one consonant. Just a thought.):

Since when did “Muslims” rock Jesus pieces and crosses, Nasir? You have been a “*****” since you dropped out of the 9th grade. You won’t do endorsements for liquor because that is against your beliefs, but you tattoo a half-naked picture of Kelis on your arm (like it washes off and like you don’t have a daughter). You speak ill of Carmen Bryant, the mother of your only child, but you revere the trash you call your wife?!. She should be placed on a pedestal about as high as her album sales.

This negro is Lauryn Hill in drag, I tell you – a contradiction in AF1s. I can’t stand when *****s use the media as a means of “false prophesizing.” Give Black folks a little bit of credit. Those of us who possess at least a high school diploma are able to see through the bull***** you continue to call your recording career.

Don’t try to be thought provoking or evoke emotions from people who you would consider void of thought or feeling. If your words are truly SINCERE, your light will shine. If it’s dark where you are, either your wife didn’t mail your electric bill payment or you aren’t the prophet you thought you were.

(Sorry for the puns but that’s the way it came out.)

Nas is too real sometimes! I think most of us already know this story, which is a painful one. Kind of makes me uneasy simple because he could either hit or miss with this one. Such an important story and he could butcher it.

Cosign with ohnoudient,WeSSide Eviscer8r,Kdogg and yes Nas needs to sit his ole tired played out *****. he’s no Frederick Douglas, Dubois or Hon Marcus Garvey. he’s a psudo intellectual. he’s starting to sound desperate. Ariel Yahudah I hear where your coming from but Nas is stupid for even taking it there, the black man’s ***** is but a small representation of who he really is and what he he has to offer. as a former 5%, Hebrew Israelite, Nuwabian and been through many, many schools of thought. we as a people have to evolve beyond what m*****a puts out in the m***** media. yt is by nature mentally ill to keep engaging him in his tricknology is futile. we have to be about the business of getting to the next level of evolution as a race, we are now in the sun cycle and don’t have time to waste on these tired ***** issues. read the book Nutricide by Llaila Afrika we have a far more pressing enemy killing us in droves the foods we consume are being made to take us out. that’s our first priority to saving ourselves and children. we eat everyday but are dying daily. ***** Nas if anyone thinks this idiot is deep, I feel sorry for you, when the shift of power occurs you will surly be left behind. wake up!!!

  87. he’s just seeking for attention

  88. nahnah

Kdogg, you seem very intelligent, but, for your own sake, stop promoting your unfounded theories, because you are losing credibility here…

Hip Hop Culture is NOT used to describe all black people, as it is a SUB culture, which mostly consist of young blacks and even Hispanics and Whites. The truth is society DOES NOT include older generational blacks, or even black professionals, in the Hip Hop culture.

It’s very convenient of you to have forgotten about “PUNK CULTURE” and the ever popular POP CULTURE. PUNK CULTURE, for example, consists of mainly young WHITES, who talk, dress, and act a certain way… so where did you get that only blacks are *****ociated with a musical culture come from?

I will agree that the act of overwhelmingly *****ociating blacks with entertainment is shameful, but your claims of Hip Hop culture are lacking.

Furthermore, The same way commercial rappers are negatively influencing the minds of young black kids by promoting sex, drugs, and violence, is the same way they can influence young black kids by promting love, education, and self esteem. In other words, Hip hop is merely a tool for self-expression…a POWERFUL one at that; and you have already admitted to its profound affect on blacks. So, instead of advocating for the destruction of Hip Hop music, let’s call for a positive change and reform, as you’ll have better luck with that since Hip Hop ain’t goin’ no wur!

Lastly, you seem to have a genuine concern for the black community, but I think your shallow beliefs will not promote any change. Unfortunately for you, black on black violence was way before the times of Hip Hop, so your half-baked reasoning for the lack of progression in the black community is downright trivial.

    PEACE.

  89. @ Meme and Nanah,

thanks for some logical, unbiased and clear answers to the onslaught on Nas an entertainer that share his thoughts, insight and images with us thru entertainment, just like Pic*****o did thru his art or Yves Saint Laurent thru his fashion or some chef thru his/her cooking and even a business person thru their business model.

The average bossip person is probably not educated enough to know and understand how to relate to art, information, their environment in general.

We need to acquire tools to see the reality of the world, too many of us are delusional and leaving in a net of frustration, anger, envy, jealousy, that cloud our judgement on a lot of things.

they talk about Nas not as customers of music or as art critics but more so like childhood friends that are mad their friends made it.

Do you listen to his music or skim thru it ?

You are drowning in your own magnanimity. What if an African singer came out with a CD called AIDS jungle bunny. I think you’d have something to say. Don’t throw your metrosexual grandiosity at us here. You don’t impress anyone because of what you read, but rather you are quite unimpressive with how you digest what you read. Don’t condescend to those us who won’t drink the Kool-aid.

  92. Swami

    Observatrice:

If you knew the majority of the people on bossip, I would tolerate your generalizations. Seeing as how you probably know few, if any of the posters here, watch where you tread in the realm of negative commentary.

The definition of art is different to most people. You may see a black line and a red dot on a white canvas and say, “That is minimalist brilliance!” I may look at it and say, “That’s a black line and a red dot on a white canvas, not art.” You may scoff at my affinity for Haring, Lichtenstein, Warhol, Basquiat, Dali and Kahlo, what I and a lot of collectors consider art because they are not Pic*****os or Renoirs. Both of our tastes are still relevant in the art world and we are both in good company despite our differences.

Don’t *****ume that because bossip focuses on “minority” gossip that people of color know nothing about art beyond Oscar Micheaux films, Ernie Barnes paintings or rap music.

Nas is self-taught, and while I appreciate people with a thirst for knowledge, make sure what you drink isn’t poisonous. You may not drink the “Kool Aid” but poison can be mixed into Petrus just as easily and you’d still end up dead. If you claim intellectual superiority over a particular group or cl***** of people, how superior are you if you choose not to share some of your alleged knowledge with those who lack exposure to what you’ve been fortunate enough to be exposed to?

You can visit other websites that use gossip as their format, namely TMZ. I am grateful every time I visit TMZ that I am not Caucasian. I have never read such ignorant comments that lack merit and insight as I have on TMZ.

If you want intellectual stimulation, attend a MENSA meeting. After all, this is a gossip site.

  93. Kdogg

    @Swami

Your comment was perfect, but I think you directed it to the wrong person. It should have been directed at Frederic N’sienie, unless I am reading this thread incorrectly.

    @nahnah

Hip-Hop culture is a subculture to What? If anything, its a seperate culture from the older generation of which you speak, and even that line is starting to blur. These rappers arent all teenagers anymore. You want to believe that society does not lump us all together but you’re sadly mistaken. The older generation of Blacks is dying off. That’s what happens to old people. They die. The problem with that, in African-American’s case, is that the REAL culture is dying with them. This real culture is not getting p*****ed on because the younger generations have turned a deaf ear to it. Why?, Because something else has captured their attention and has defined to every generation since the early ’80s what being black is all about.

Our “whole” culture has been defined by a genre of music. Including the “professionals.”

HipHop has become more than just music. Its a lifestlye and unfortunately a culture.

    Oh, and you’re right.

    HipHop aint going no “wur.”

That’s my point, that’s what’s sad. If, as Nas said, HipHop is dead…then what are we?

  94. THIS IS AN OUTRAGE

No, YOU are a *****ing *****!

  95. nahnah

    KDOGG:

Our whole culture has ALWAYS been defined by entertainment. Since when have Black People been known as a diversified people in America known for contributing to medicine, science, education, and politics? NEVER. We’ve always been known as people who know how to dance and shoot hoops.

And “Hip Hop Culture” is a subculture of almost EVERY culture – all across the world. Unlike other subcultures like Punk and Goth, Hip Hop has transcended ethnic boundaries. All over Europe and even Asia & Australia, where you don’t find a substantial amount of Black people, are young kids who create a subculture of Hip Hop.

In France, young Arabs dominate the Hip Hop “scene”.

The “real” culture you’re talking about still exist, my friend. No matter how blacks are overwhelmingly represented in entertainment, we are advancing in every other arena – including politics, science medicine, law, and education.

Your simplistic view in thinking Hip Hop is the real issue is quite laughable. But, I suggest you not hold your breath and thinking anything will get done with that mindset.

  97. jules

i knw nas has good intentions but it’s not going to work..he’s trying to belittle the word ***** and that’s not possible . the reason why the N word is so powerfull is because the history of the black woman and man in america is unique to the history of anyone in the world. You cant make the word less powerfull. It’s better to not tolirate it’s use then to try to say “its not that big a deal” because it is and it should never be said by blacks in a slang way or whites in a serious way. Kill the word completly.

  98. nahnah

What a cop -out, Kdogg. I thought you knew better.

Raping and torturing innocent Iraqis is evil. I have, nor will I ever, have sympathy for soldiers who obey treasonous orders to illegally invade another country and kill off its inhabitants.

If that makes me evil, then hand me my *****ing horn.

  99. Observatrice

    @ Swami,

My comments were directed to Frederic, but to answer you, I don’t *****ume anything about anyone who posts here. That you would make that accusation demonstrates that you do. Also, I am glad that you collect artwork — many people do — it may even surprise you that people of color also collect art, And for aesthetic quality and personal taste. Not to parade how intellectually acceptable and culturally acclimated to white culture they have become. Not saying that is you, of course, because this a no *****umption zone. Also, self-instruction does not preclude a natural defense system against corruption of either the soul or the message. Furthermore, we are all sharing here; the intensity of the discourse does not diminish that. As for attending a MENSA meeting, I never investigated because I don’t have a high enough IQ for membership and my humility readily allows me to admit that. See Swami, you’re not unique, a lot of black folks have heard of MENSA.

Looking forward to hearing what he has to say in the album.

    You better say it, bruh.

True comment, it’s based on the sperm and genetics. African genes, and the genetic structure is where you get the dominance physically showing in skin pigmentation. ANY TIME BLACK MIXES WITH ANY RACE, THE OFFSPRINGS ANTI-BLACK GENE ARE ALWAYS TAKEN OVER BY THE BLACK GENES. (USUALLY SKIN COLOR & HAIR)
