Memphis-area news anchor Pam McKelvy removed her wig and revealed her natural hair during a live newscast on WMC.She appeared very emotional as she shared her journey of surviving breast cancer and losing her hair. But she also said she realized that society puts a lot of pressure on African-American women to make their hair conform to standards that are not always fair. She said she felt more pressure to straighten her hair with damaging chemical relaxers because she had to maintain a conservative appearance on television.
