Mos Def

And it goes a little something like this:

With both Billboard and Hollywood success under his belt, the mighty Mos Def is delving into the fashion game, as well. The Brooklyn MC has teamed up with street wear label UNDRCRWN for its Spring 2009 campaign, set to drop today (March 18) on the company’s website, UNDRCRWN.com.

According to WoooHa.com, the designs are heavily inspired by the cover artwork of the 2004 Dead Prez album, Revolutionary But Gangsta, The Mos Def collection has been designed in conjunction with UNDRCRWN creative director Dustin Canalin and will include t-shirts, outerwear, and headwear. The Philadelphia-based brand has collaborated with rappers in the past, recently partnering with XXL Freshman Asher Roth for its College Collection. In other Mos Def news, the rapper-actor will be releasing his fourth solo, The Ecstatic, on June 9th

Not knock Mos Def’s hustle, but no one wants to by overpriced apparel with arbitrary little figures on it and sh*t. We’re in a recession gotdammit!

First off, UNDRCRWN isn’t really all that expensive for streetwear brands… I mean, it’s like 20-30 bucks for a shirt which ain’t nothin’ compared to the 60-80 bucks people drop on that “classy” ed hardy shit… With that being said, despite the fact that we are in one of those recession things, people are still consuming on similar levels to before. Individuals are still going to the club, people are still buying clothes, and nothing has really changed. So be it the fact that the sector that these clothes attract isn’t really getting hit as badly, or the fact that people don’t know how to prioritize, one thing is for certain: they will buy. So as far as the thing about nobody wanting to “by” overpriced apparel with arbitrary little figures on it, don’t generalize because it makes you look stupid… Especially when it is evident that you just got a press release and hardly did research…

If people can bring back the 80′s dukey ropes, then why can’t we bring back the funky 90′s.. some cross colour shit!

Stick to music brotha! Really feeling that new track with him and DJ Deckstream called “Life is Good”. Thats a shinning example of real hip hop music!

He had me thinking he was cute for a second….Now….I dunno. He looks like a light skin-ded flavor flav. I think he would do better with the classy-nerd swagga. Camel-Jigga can pull it off!
