Jay-Z recently discussed rumors of him bouncing from Def Jam:
So I gotta ask you: It’s December now. How are you feeling about your contract at Def Jam? That’s coming up soon.
You know, it’s active. We’ll see how it turns out. I mean, we’re close. So we’ll know in the next couple of weeks how it turns out.
The New York Daily News said last week that talks were stalling because you made some big demands. Is there any truth to that?

Yeah, I think — I don’t know. Let me not even say that. I don’t know. We’ll see how it goes. But seriously, it’s not about money. That’s really the last thing. Of course, as a person that does these type of things and puts his heart and soul into it — and it’s effective, as the Grammys would indicate — you want to be compensated for what you do. But it’s really not about money. It’s really about the future of the music business, and not wasting anyone’s time. I don’t ever want to sit in a seat just to sit in a seat. I could be off doing something else that’s beneficial to the future of the music business as well as myself. So it’s not about money! I mean, you couldn’t pay me enough. And I don’t mean that in a cocky way
Some people say Camel is hustlin’ backwards by getting another “job” but we disagree. The truth of his success is enough to shoot down the critics. Oh yeah, a new 40/40 is opening up in Vegas at the Venetian.

What ever career choices you make you have to deal with and handle them, with that being said, we should not worry or be concern about how much goes into your pocekt or bank account. Your job for the ppl is to bring us entertainment, not to tell us your next business play or next move. You do not come to our jobs and tell us our next business move so that’s why we really can’t get caught up in the scheme of things,How things are ran at Def Jam. Like I said b4 and I’m gonna say it again, it really shouldn’t matter as long as we hearing great music put out. Well at least you are right on one thing. Albums sell from hot tracks. Look at 50… after *****sta he probably would’ve went gold until “In da club” came out. Then that album went platinum. Now its multi-platinum. That song plays in every club that has a plays mostly pop. In other works white folks clubs. Look at Ready to Die & Mis-Education of Lauryn Hill. Hot singles even though their albums was str8 Dope. But it was the singles that made the mainstream buy. Them songs still play in the clubs too.
