Feds Target Al Sharpton’s Finances

The Feds got it poppin’ yesterday and raided Rev. Al Sharpton’s offices. According to reports:
Teams of federal agents swooped down on up to 10 close associates of the Rev. Al Sharpton Wednesday, demanding the flamboyant clergyman’s financial records since 2001. Sharpton’s former chief of staff said he was roused at his Harlem home about 6:30 a.m. by two FBI agents who handed him a subpoena to bring the records to a federal grand jury the day after Christmas.
Several employees of Sharpton’s National Action Network also got wakeup subpoenas to testify before the Brooklyn panel, the rabble-rousing reverend’s lawyer said.
The FBI and IRS are investigating whether Sharpton improperly misstated the amount of money he raised during his 2004 White House run to illegally obtain federal matching funds, a source familiar with the probe said. Sharpton, although forced to return $100,000 in matching taxpayer funds after an investigation two years ago, denied any wrongdoing at the time.
The feds are also looking into allegations of tax fraud, including whether Sharpton commingled funds from his nonprofit National Action Network with several of his for-profit ventures, the source said.
It’s time for Al to cut that “Big Red” conk off and get a real job. Getting rich off of old civil rights game is not where it’s at.

After 9/11, Jesse came to my church and when folks were looking for comfort after such a horrific event, all this “Rev” could do was bash the Bush administration, call Colin Powell an uncle Tom and whine because HE wasn’t invited to Camp David for the emergency meeting that Bush held with top advisors.
He then brags about all his international diplomatic efforts, like meeting with controversial foreign leaders and I’m sitting there like WTH?!?! How dare he turn this national tragedy into a platform for his self-promoting political agenda? I was so disgusted that I gathered my things, and walked right out of service. To me, he was so inappropriate and obviously out of touch of what the congregation really needed. At that time, did I give a damn about him meeting w/Quaddafi or Milosevic or whomever, did I care about his “resume”. Oh, and the best part was when a collection was taken because he was going to raise funds to travel to the Middle East to try to meet with whom…Bin Laden?!?! SMDH

We are on the verge of medical breakthroughs, solar and battery operated cars, ipods, cell phones the size of a deck of cards and yet you seem to feel the same way Al and Jesse do. They are still doing what they did in the 70s and 80s to make a change today. We are not the same as our parents, this world is not the same as when our parents were young. We need to evolve and find better for effective and efficient ways to do those things you suggested. Getting arrested and protesting will do no good today. We need to work smarter not harder.

I think when they were in their younger years, they really had a passion for helping out thier black communities but as they grew older there passion diminished and thier greed subsided. Cyrus, I know the Asians you are talking about are the East Indians and you are so right. Many of those people are very dark-skinned and when they wear a hat, I cannot tell if they are African-American or not until they take it off. But it is what is going on inside their heads that count. Right, they don’t care about Whites being racists to them because they are gonna make it anyhow and they do. They push education and family tightness on their own like you wouldn’t believe. by the time their kids are four years old they are enrolled in tutoring classes for Math and English, so by the time they reach high school they excell in all subjects that require difficult, higher thought, this is why they become doctors, Engineers, computer Anaylsis, and so forth. People it all starts inside the home with your parents leading you and not some big mouth preacher with a crown. Recently released reports claim that Black teenage mothers are once again on the rise. We have allowed the black criminal element running rampant in our communities to define us as a people. They have destroyed our reputation all over the world because the media has circulated these images of black men as thieves, rapist, drug dealers and killers all over the world. There was a time when we as a people had nothing. When black men were the safest, kindest men walking the earth, and although poor, they still took care of their families and raised their children to respect themselves and women in particular. Then fifty or so years ago, the welfare mentality hit us hard and all personal responsibility flew out the window with these brain dead, self-appointed leaders ranting and raving about giving us bigger welfare checks so poor mothers could have more and more children for the state to take care of, when they should have been calling on Black men to stay in the homes with their families and raised them youreself even if you have to collect cans alongside the road to feed them and not expect the government too. I don’t give a damn about whether or not somebody likes the color of my skin, I give a damn about my children studing habits, attendance in school and their grades staying high. I know Black policemen and they tell me how frustrated and angry they get at these young black men(fatherless) tearing up the neighborhoods, hurting people who look just like them, killing, robbing, acting like fools,them marching and going crazy when a cop shoots one of them dead. it is the good Black young men who pay the price for all the bad ones committing crimes and filling up the prisons.

I agree with your last post and I don’t think that Al and Jesse are not concerned with us. I just think that they need to evolve the way they “protest”. Who is still using the same cell phone that was in circulation in 1980, or the same kind of tv or computer. No one. We must evolve to stay up with the times. You may still talk to the same ppl on your phone, watch the same shows or look up the same stuff on the net but you are using 2008 technology. Another reason. Black people hate black people. I remember growing up, my family own 4 high end jewerly stores in 3 different cities, and a mcdonalds and 1 jewerly store in the city i grew up in. I alway wondered why my dad, who is making all this money would refuse to buy a new car. He stated to me in the early 90’s he bought a new cadillac and when he did that most of his black customers quit comming to the store. I remember being in school people would go to the white own jewerly store because they would tell me, they aint about to make my dad rich. After a while we closed down the store in my city and my dad just worked the other ones and let white folk run it. because he felt like he shouldnt have to hide the lifestyle he aquired. but when we closed that store down everybody was talking like my family was doing bad, not even realizing we had 3 other store and a mcdonalds, which we ran buy white folks. I remember when i got my license at 16, my parents bought me a new 1998 corvette and when i graduate high school a Benz everybody was sick. Back in the day when Tawana Brawley accused those white boys of rape, he was the first one organizing rallys and parades, terrorizing the accused, making rogue statements, yada, yada, yada. Then we find out (like Duke stripper girl) that Tawana was lying – that she was not assaulted by white boys (like Duke stripper girl) and that the entire episode was embellished. After the truth came out (like Duke stripper girl), you never heard from him again – no apologies, no explanations, nothing. A real man of justice will admit when he’s wrong and seek amends; A real man of justice does not put his ego/pride before his humility; A real man of justice tries to build bridges between the masses – not tear them down. To me – he’s a racist. He’s too hung up on adversity to teach diversity, and diversity is the key to spiritual, emotional and cultural harmony. I was talking about the same shit with my white guy friend last night who was bitching about mexicans crossing the border and taking jobs. Unfortunately, I have watched a FEW people die from drug related murders. Have you ever heard of a city called Los Angeles? Yeah well we have these things called gangs Crips, Bloods MS 13. What I saw, made me step away and become a nurse.

@ MIMI now I’ll type on the past and make your comment relevant. When I say “the white man” thats my jokingly way for myself referring to the CIA, FBI, Judges, ATF, the government as a whole, Police officers, Prosecuters, the powers that be and I am wiiling to guess, but I could be wrong, that the majority of these people are white. So the white man I’m referring to is not just in the “Past”. You Know I can’t help but wonder that if Blacks were allowed and had the chance to create businesses and start foundations in the past, that some of the their children and grandchildren wouldn’t be in better positions today. You Know MIMI like how these billion dollar companies that began in the 1800s that still exist today with the children and granchildren running the company and reaping the benefits. Maybe if we had that opportunity then we wouldn’t be in such conditions “accepting responsibilty” we’d probably be inheritors like our white counter parts. And These things continued well past the 1800s you know like the 60’s and 70’s which is not so far in the “past”. I cant help but wonder, when I talk to my grandfather who was born in 1927 and tells me about how he began working for cents in the 70’s, if he were able to walk into a bank and get a loan to start a business how different his life and the lives of his children would be. That is if his idea wasn’t stolen.And lets not even get on education for them back then. Or even the inferiority complexes that were created when blacks way way way back there in the 60’s had no one to identify with, all the heroes ands greats were white even the baby dolls that the females played with were white. And blacks who had somethings had their property destroyed. In the sixties and Seventies when black men were killed and jailed leaving children without fathers( sounds Familiar anyone) If someone were born in the 20’s and lived life with poor education and had children and taught them all they know and then they had children what great knowledge can be passed on to the children. And we all about school today that’s great but you can’t tell me that if things were different then that they wouldn’t be better now. And today with all those things added on to the dirtyness of the powers that be in today How can it possibly be our faults. You know they say ignorance protects you, cause once you acquire the truth you have no choice but to get angry and seek answers.
