I date men who match me on other levels and have similar goals and interest.
It is so hard to find a brother who makes more or equal than me, so I don’t try to.

Ok, then we were talking about two entirely different things. Part of the “independent thing going to far,” as Colonel initially stated, was the “bad attitude” that was given. I likened the “bad attitude” to people “stating their worth (ie: bragging,overconfidence,etc).”

That’s easy… sometimes you have to take the “lessor” or two evils. In this case, someone MAY have to either “lower” their standards or wind up alone. Furthermore, just because someone “lowers” their standards doesn’t necessarily mean they won’t be happy.

Now as far as this Why lower your standards when you won’t be happy with what you’re getting?
That’s easy… sometimes you have to take the “lessor” or two evils. In this case, someone MAY have to either “lower” their standards or wind up alone. Furthermore, just because someone “lowers” their standards doesn’t necessarily mean they won’t be happy.

Low and behold this Negro comes along that is highly attractive, they get involved, and she lowers her standards. Now they’re trying to have a relationship and she’s unhappy because his lack of a degree is hindering his career advancement, and he’s becoming insecure because she has a MBA. Now did she really help herself by lowering her standards? Is she happy? Nope…so why bother in the 1st place? I say if you know what you want, stick to it.

Ok, but even using your scenario she liked THE PERSON. The “degree” in and of itself wasn’t the problem. It was his frustration for a career and lack of security.

The degree was a means to an end, but not the end itself. If this brother was happy with himself and progressing in his career I doubt the lack of a degree would be an issue.

The ultimate “end” people are trying to reach is to just be happy. If you aren’t flexible in acheiving happiness than you will never obtain it. No matter what standards you place or how rigid you stick to them, it won’t be a guarantee to happiness.
