JET Magazine has been in the game for a long time. Starting in June, the print publications will be no more. Linda Johnson Rice, Chairwoman of Johnson publishing, said, “Almost 63 years ago, my father, John Johnson, named the publication Jet because, as he said in the first issue, “In the world today, everything is moving faster. There is more news and far less time to read it.” “He could not have spoken truer words. We are not saying goodbye to Jet, we are embracing the future as my father did in 1951.” JET’s redesign a couple of years ago did somewhat reignite interest in the digest-size mag, it’s print schedule had already been reduced from a weekly edition to every three weeks. Now there will only be an annual “Best of JET” print issue. Now there will be digital content available through the website but also through a paid subscription app. The new app will be available for tablets and all mobile devices, will be published weekly, and will update breaking news daily. It will include video interviews, 3-D charts and archival photos, in addition the content available in the print edition. Subscribers pay $20 per year for the print edition and the current digital version. Those subscribers will receive instructions on how to get the new app and continue receiving Jet. Print subscribers that don’t choose to go with the digital Jet, will have the option to convert their subscriptions to sister publication, Ebony.
Just a sophmore at his high school, Diddy’s 16 year old son, Christian Combs went to the prom last week. white suit jacket, leather pants and sneakers, Combs did prom his own way, but still managed to coordinate with his date with an orange boutineer to match her orange skirt and lace top. For the night’s festivities, Combs and his date were driven in a Maybach. CAN YOU SAY, BIG DEAL?!! Of course diddy was excited and had t post pics on instagram with the caption, “My son who is a sophomore going to his first senior prom. Man life is moving faster than a muthaf**ka! Have fun tonight @kingcombs and don’t do anything I would do! Lol Love you king!! #CombsFamily#KingCombs”, that family is so nice to look at,, sigh! Everytime Christian is in the news its because he’s stunting like his daddy. A couple of months ago he clebrated his sweet 16. Previous to hid birthday party, Diddy arranged for his son’s image to be displayed on a billboard and encouraged all of his Instagram followers to send birthday wishes his son’s way. He also had a gang of people there like his brothers, sisters, his friends to celebrities like Zendaya Coleman, Willow Smith, Lauren London, Faith Evans, Kylie Jenner, Khloé Kardashian, and Selena Gomez. Proud Daddy Diddy spared no expense for his son’s bash, hiring rapper Kendrick Lamar to perform, as well as French Montana and Meek Mill. Diddy also got a huge five-tier cake that was topped off with a crown to keep things in line with the royalty theme.
Fatima Spencer has a luxury accessory boutique and it could all be because of her father. He had a beautification program as she was growing up. He wanted them to be able to go outside and feel like they were in a paradise. So he started a program where they planted flowers throughout the entire neighborhood. They gave a new face to their low-income neighborhood that actually did not have much life to it. With that came alot of exotic butterflies and birds and dragonflies. There was all kind of life in the neighborhood. Flowers from Fatima offers silk handmade hair flowers, accessories, and gifts for her. Launched in 2009, her business is already proving to be successful, even gaining a celebrity clientele. Her mission is to inspire women to rediscover their natural beauty while reconnecting with Mother Nature through one of her most precious gifts, the flower. The company design clips, Bohemian hair flowers, and just introduced a new line of flower chains. It’s a spin on the modern hair flower crown, but it’s a flower chain to honor the goddess in women. When Spencer was asked if her business picks up in spring, she said, “Yes! It does. That’s actually when I look back at my numbers too. I always notice a huge peak around spring and then it picks up even more in the summertime. And so I’m really excited with that because business literally blossoms around springtime.”
