Big Tifah Gets Slapped with 2 Lawsuits

Queen Latifah is accused of breaching contracts of both her stylist and cosmetologist:
The people who kept Queen Latifah pretty are making some ugly accusations about the CoverGirl spokeswoman. Cosmetologist Roxanna Floyd and stylist Susan Moses say they’ve been stiffed out of $1 million for their work on Queen Latifah’s CoverGirl ad campaign, as well as the star’s “Curvations” line of intimate apparel.
The Brooklyn women filed separate breach of contract suits yesterday in Manhattan Federal Court against the “Bringing Down the House” star, whose real name is Dana Owens. Moses says Latifah promised her a $50,000-a-year salary when she went to work on the Curvations line in 2005, and is due $300,000.
“Despite such demands and assurances as well as expressions of remorse for having stiffed plaintiff … defendants have completely failed to pay plaintiff for her services and …. expenses relating to Curvations,” Moses’ lawyer Carmen Giordano wrote. Latifah spokeswoman Amanda Silverman called the suits “without merit,” but declined to discuss them further.
Floyd, known as Roxie, has used her powder puff to touch up the likes of Angela Bassett, Whitney Houston and Mary J. Blige. She says she’s owed $700,000. Until last year, she was a consultant for the CoverGirl line of cosmetic products known as the “Queen Collection,” the suit says.
Damn. We bet King Latifah will use those copious stacks she’s cheated those broads out of to prevent her from paying out one single cent she owes them. Gotta love the legal system. SMH.

This is what a contract is for… I’m sure there is a misunderstanding somewhere??? lol
My question is: was it REALLY a contract? A verbal agreement? Did Latifah make the agreement or a “rep” on her behalf? Or do these people believe they are “deserve” more because of the success of said products? Sometimes people agree to do things cheaply, and then when it blows up, they want more?
If Latifah signed a contract, then she should pay up. There are just so many lawsuits against celebs, you never know.

So how long do you work for somebody when they don’t pay you anything? Years?? Doesn’t matter if they are famous or not, but I believe that if you are hired for a job and quoted a certain amount of pay, you will not continue to work years later for this entity for free unless you are acually VOLUNTEERING.
why would you continue to work for someone after they owe that much money. i read somewhere else she worked for her from 05-08 and you didn’t get paid all that time. she a dumb ***** for that one

You couldnt have said it better, girl. That just doesnt make any damn sense. But you know what they say. This is hard times right now, everybody is trying to make a dollar off of something or in these silly girls’ case….someone. If it it’s true, then they deserve every penny. If not, then they should get off her case and learn how to make better business decisions.

Hey you wanna work for a star you gotta pay the price………so what if right before she had an orgasm she said she’d double their salaries, a man promises a woman all kinds of ***** during sex, it dont make it a legal contract!

As a hairstylist, I do not render any services unless I am paid. After having breeched the contract after one year, she should of sued Latifah. This lawsuit goes back to 2005. It would be very foolish to continue to service a client who is not paying her bill.
