Black Florida Fire Marshal Suspended For Using The N-Word
An African-American fire marshal from Florida is now taking an unexpected break from his profession after he was suspended for using the N-word during a public festival.
The Jacksonville fire marshal has been suspended for making a racist remark during a planning session for the Welcome to Rockville concert festival.
The Florida Times-Union reports a complaint filed by co-workers claims Fire Marshal Kevin Jones used the N-word when discussing the number of people who would be allowed in the park for the concert.
Jacksonville Fire Rescue spokesman Tom Francis says Jones, who’s African American, received a notice of disciplinary action Friday and acknowledged the discipline by signing it.
Fire Chief Martin Senterfitt says the complaint surprised him because Jones has few complaints and a strong reputation.
Some people feel that black people should be free to use the N-word as they please, while other races should be reprimanded when they use the word.
Do you consider the N-word offensive no matter who uses it?
