Duct tape prom attire…you likey???
Teens Make Duct Tape Prom Dress And Tuxedo
Two Mississippi teens are gaining national attention for craftily creating their prom attire entirely out duct tape in hopes of winning a national contest.
The feat took 28 rolls of tape and 102 hours.
Two Senatobia High Schoolseniors not only attended their school’s prom, they attended prom in a unique way.
They both made their prom dress and tuxedo out of duct tape.
Kechantra Ward, who will be attending Kent State University in Ohio in the fall, and her date Jeffery Patton, made their attire and accessories completely out of duct tape for the Stuck at Prom scholarship contest.
Ward said they used 28 rolls of duct tape and 102 hours to create their prom outfits.
The two Senatobia High graduates said their prom outfits were so unique they made the Top 10 of the StuckAtProm.com contest. They are in the running to win$5,000 each and $5,000 for Senatobia High.
Ward said they were inspired to create their prom outfits “from figure skating and antique skeleton keys.” They used black-, electric blue- and gold-colored duct tape to create their prom outfits.
“The swirls figure skaters make are portrayed by the curling of the skirt and earrings with a little wire and the design on the heel of the shoe,” Ward said. “We captured the intricate designs on antique skeleton keys with the cut-by-hand designs on the dress, vest, and shoes.”
Ward and Patton are hoping to win the grand prize. You can vote online for them or for your favorite prom design at StuckAtProm.com between June 10 through July 8.
