    Best female eyes = nicole ari parker

  • Meggie Letterman

  • Sho-Nuff the Shogun of Harlem (The Meanest, Prettiest, Baddest Mofolo Down Around This Town)

    wonder why they didn’t have me on that list

  • finally18nlovingit

    um for most intrigueing eyes,it should have definately been toni braxton 4 the female…

  • Bigguy

    ^^^^Thanks. I thought I was the only person in America who thought Halle’s face is over rated. She’s pretty, but compared to Beyonce and Laurie London, Rihanna, Sanaa, Alicia Keys, Toni Braxton, Eva Pigford or Keri Hilson she’s running middle of the pack, if not a little behind it.

    I have to totally disagree with the choice of Gabrielle Bouvais Nillion. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY overrated. She’s not even in the game. Sorry. Just the way I see it. She’s a nice woman though.

    Also I agree that there a number of dark skinned women who should be on the list such as Mel B-my choice for sexiest butt and legs, Kelly Rowland, Shontell, Deborah Cox.

  • brttny

    @WTF

    ….what are you even talking about?
    Taye Diggs, Michael Jordan, Gabrielle Union, Naomi Campbell, Djimon Hounsou, Serena Williams…

    What are they?!?

  • Sho-Nuff the Shogun of Harlem (The Meanest, Prettiest, Baddest Mofolo Down Around This Town)

    make sure when yall are compiling those lists dont forget about the Shogun.

  • Bigguy

    My problem with dark skinned/light skinned arguement is that certain people are just easier on the eyes. I’m sorry, it really has little to do with skin tone but everything with how well the features work. When people bring up the light/dark debate they always go to the most extreme on either side. Forgive me but Indie Arie is not better looking than Alicia Keys. That’s just stupid to even assume that. Her skin color has little to do with it. That does not mean Ms. Arie is not attractive but when we do comparisons we tend to look for the stand outs. I like Kelly Rowland but she’s not in Beyonce’s league. Similarly I don’t think many women can hold a candle to Toni Braxton!

    Whites do the exact some thing; how is Scarlett Johanssen better looking than Natalie Portman? Or Paris Hilton better looking than Kim Kardashians? When we go to extremes we are denying the obvious, and I think that is why such opinions rarely keep traction.

  • Meggie Letterman

    @Bigguy:

    Good points….I personally feel as you’ve said, it’s just a matter of opinion of what you find FIND attractive.

  • What the…

    Well, the list IS the typical famous Black people list ALWAYS used. So I’m not surprised. Seriously most can’t even name 5, who’s Black and under 20 acting that people actully know of hand…

    this list was played out in 2005.

  • oh

    Best Personality: JAY-Z!!!

    Best Look: Halle Berry

    Best hair do: Rihanna

    Best baller: Lebron James

  • Toni

    @Bigguy—-well said!

  • John

    Alicia Keys is good-looking….Really, I don’t see it. She looks like a regular chick…

    Symmetry, bone structure (strong jaw line, high cheekbones), toned body, taller than the average person, perfect skin and straight teeth are universal beauty characteristics. Anything else such as naturally long eyelashes, full lips and naturally arched eyebrows are pluses.

  • Sydney™

    I can understand some of the arguments on this thread — while there are men/women with darker complexions included on the list, they are not pictured above, and that could have been easily remedied by, say, putting up a photo of Gaby, Naomi, or Djimon. Images are important, and people often react to what they see.

    @Bigguy

    “I like Kelly Rowland but she’s not in Beyonce’s league.”

    I happen to disagree — Give it 10 years, and you’ll see. :)

  • TRUTH IS….

    Arms of Steel Will Smith….what a joke! what happen to ben wallace or lebron james, they’ve got arms of steel.

  • John

    I have always said Kelly is a bad chick….Man…She is so pretty. Beyonce will age really bad IMO.

  • CaribChica

  • Sho-Nuff the Shogun of Harlem (The Meanest, Prettiest, Baddest Mofolo Down Around This Town)

    there are attractive and unattractive people of all races, example Tiny TI’s wife is not attractive at least to me, I see light skinned people all the time that are not that attractive, and the same goes for whites, latino’s, asians, and dark skinned people, it just depends on the persons features light or dark, attractive is attractive and vice versa.

    You are correct when your say talk in respect to the light skinned/darked skinned situation, but and I mean a big BUT, is that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some people would say the reverse in that, Alicia Keyes can’t hold a candle to Indie Arie. There is no “perfect looking person “to everyone! That person has and never will exist!

  • bronzedasian

    most luscious lips, male: LL Cool J, but of course!

    and why it always got to be light skinned/dark skinned? i just experienced something like this at work.

    Ugh…here come the youngins with their ignorance.

    It’s a wrap for this post……

  • Raymond

    It’s the dark-skinned Black people who cause all the problems. I work at a prison and every Black male who come in there is dark-skinned. You rarely see light-skinned Black men going to jail. If a light-skinned male comes in all the black ones try to get at him.

  • bronzedasian

    uuuggghhh! Why cant we all just get along!?

  • Sydney™

    @Friend or Foe

    “Ugh…here come the youngins with their ignorance.

    LOL! You took the words right out of my mouth.

    The floods of ignorance have officially begun this Sunday morning.

    This thread is done.

  • Ford

    The Black people shown above on the list have a universal look and appeal to them. They are simply beautiful to look at, all politics aside, and they would be considered good-looking by most people around the world. I know some of you don’t want to hear that but its true. Brown to light complexions are sort of in the middle, not too dark, not too light, but just right to the world. I am dark-skinned and I travel quite a bit in my career and I see this preference for certain beauty types world-wide. All societies set their own classification for beauty and the Black celebrities above would be acceptable wherever they ventured. Just keep yourself physically fit and maintain a positive attitude about yourself regardless.

  • Ara

    @ %0 cent is ugly

    AGAIN, BEAUTY IS IN THE EYES OF THE BEHOLDER
    Now, I’m about to become politically incorrect. Light skin does not automatically equate being beautiful, all of those ugly a** white people I see. Beauty is based on an individual to individual basis. The western media keeps shoveling Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt down our throats as being beautiful, they are NOT beautiful to me, but that’s what the western media wants to showcase as being beautiful. Angelina has crusted lips that always look as if they need chapstick, vaseline or something, not to mention those ugly tats. Talk about overratted.

  • Friend Or Foe

    They want to make you hate your own self so they put you AGAINST each other by creating hate, envy, and jealousy.

    And what do we do? Fall right into the trap.

    Another thing to divide the masses. I’m starting to believe that not only are we still a sensitive people, but a naive one as well.

    SMH

    Know who you are and trust that you are just as beautiful as any one else. It’s that simple.

  • Sydney™

    @Friend or Foe

    “It’s just sad that we fight within our own realm over something so insignificant as skin color.”

    I totally agree — This has been an issue for generations (with historical roots), and I’m really surprised that some people react as if they are not aware that there are individuals who do assign beauty and other characteristics to others based on their skin tone. And it’s wrong, damaging, and debilitating. Just look at some of these comments for evidence.

    “Know who you are and trust that you are just as beautiful as any one else. It’s that simple.”

    So true.

  • Ara

    *overrated*

  • Sydney™

    @Friend or Foe

    “Know who you are and trust that you are just as beautiful as any one else.”

    I will add, however, that this is a statement that is often easier said than carried out, particularly when, as you pointed out, a certain “look” is deemed to be the epitome of what is beautiful, and it veers away from the image you see in the mirror. This issue matters to young girls, for example, who don’t see girls/women who look like them in popular media.

    On another note, how are people on here so sure that the posters who are making comments on color are, in fact, “dark-skinned?” You don’t have to be a certain skin tone to know that this issue exists.

  • bronzedasian

    “Know who you are and trust that you are just as beautiful as any one else. It’s that simple.”

    totally agree 100%…

    you have to be confident with yourself…if you are confident and know who you are…you dont have to worry about who is light skinned, dark skinned, olive toned..etc..you are only focused on yourself.

    I think the comments about having and exuding confidence are nice, but let’s not kid ourselves that this is no more than an “internal” issue. When you have girls/women who are regularly told that they are “pretty to be dark-skinned” and other similar comments, that’s an ingrained mentality that affects individuals who are subject to such ignorance.

    The media chooses celebs based on sales (which happens to be people who resemble them – those with lighter skin); however, we make the real difference within our own race. I swear WE are our worst enemies at times. Sorry, the people that were picked ARE attractive and yes their are others who could have made this list but they didn’t, get over it!

    I can agree with you there, especially having 4 older sisters who could all be considered dark, but, at some point in time they have to take responsibility for determining their self image and self worth. I could actually chat about that for quite some time as one of my sisters (absolutely gorgeous, btw) married a white cat and I believe it had to do with her skin tone. Another day, another time…I gotta write, you’re gonna get me fired!!!

  • CattyBitch

    LMFAO, at this whole thing. Okay they’re trying to create a perfect face, but how many nose jobs has Halle Berry had? At least two, Beyonce has also had a nose job and breast implants. Point I’m trying to make is that all these celebrities they think are so “perfect” owe that to a plastic surgeon.

    look at us sitting here in 2009 arguing about light skin/ dark skin

  • hellonursenancy

    Oh, this is for blacks only. Ok, because for Best Eyes, if you were going to include all races in Hollywood, it would have been Robert Downey Jr. and Winona Ryder, sorry it’s true. Best Dimples is Gabrielle Union, Lauren London and Gabby habe Best Skin. Lauryn Hill also has really good skin.

    Best Teeth: Thandie Newton
    Best Bald Head: Michael Jordon AND Amber Rose

    Side note: This list is kinda flawed. I’m gonna need them to include ALL black folks from the color spectrum (we come in different hues,you know), not just the ones THEY consider beautiful.

  • CattyBitch

    @Kigali: I didn’t mean “African” in terms of talking specifically about people from Africa. I meant it as saying ethnic, I probably should have said ethnic.

  • Mrz Roc

    Ok all them is fine and Dandy but what about Taraji P.Hinson,Keisha Knight Pullian,Kelly Rowland,Eve,Gabrielle Union,Meagan Good,Tatianna Ali,Chilli, OOOH thats right they are Dark Skinned women, Well What About Monique, Natalie Desselle, Tocarra Jones, Queen Latifah, Jordin Sparks, Jennifer Hudson,Lalia Ali,Jill Scott….Wait a minute ooops out of there league again I guess The a little bit to much over a Buck 05 (105 lbs) But much props to them all cause they are all beautiful black Women

  • hellonursenancy

    @ Kigali: “That actually isnt true. The most common plastic surgery procedure for white women is liposuction. Then nose jobs, eye surgery, and breast augmentation. For non surgical it is botox. Not sure where you get your information about other surgeries white women get.”

    Maybe 5 years ago the stats would indicate that, but these days, YES, more and more white women are getting gluteal augmentation surgery. http://messageboards.makemeheal.com

    They are using liposuction, yes, but the fat rendered from that liposuction is being inserted back into their posteriors.

  • NOr*Cal

    @ thansabunch
    Uncle Ruckus syndrome? I’m sure Kigali can answer that question he seems to know something about that

  • thanksabunch

    lol..that sounds about right..that’s the only thing I can think of

  • CattyBitch

    LOL,@thanksabunch: I agree, I don’t understand why we can’t just appreciate attractiveness in all races and shades, why does it have to be a contest? Every race has beauty just in a different way. By the way I was at lunch with a group of white male co-workers a while back, and we started talking about Beyonce. Every single one of them thought she was an overrated tranny(one called her a RuPaul look alike) and said Kelly had always been the prettiest one in Destiny’s Child. As far as Puffy, the thing that irritates me is he has most of his children by a dark skinned black woman, but black women aren’t good enough to be models in his ads? It’s so hypocritical.

  • Kigali (I Love Stay-at-Home Wife/Mothers)

    @thanksabunch,

    “then why are black men attracted to women who look more european? what do you think attributes to that? most black men i know rather date a chick with a look similar to beyonce instead of lauryn hill.”

    Probably but I think they would rather date Lauryn Hill than Solange. You comparent Ms Hill who is attractive to someone who by all acounts would be considered more attractive than her.

    It isnt necessarily anti black to consider fairer women more attractive than darker women. Lots of women have expressed a preference for dark men, does that mean they are anti white?

  • Bre

    Most Alluring Eyes – Female – Eva Pigford
    Luscious Lips – Male – LL Cool J

  • Kigali (I Love Stay-at-Home Wife/Mothers)

    @thanksabunch,

    In addition, if you were to darken Beyounce skin, and lighten Lauryn Hills skin. The dark Beyounce would still probably look better than the light Lauryn. So perhaps ye dark skinned maidens need to consider that it isnt the dark skin that is the issue, it just might be your face.

  • missuk

    I WOULD NEVER DATE AN AFRICAN AMERICAN MAN, THEY ARE TO ME THE BIGGEST TRAITORS AND HYPOCRITES. THEY CONSTANTLY DEGRADE THEIR OWN WOMEN, PUT WOMEN OF OTHER RACES ON A HIGH PEDESTAL THEN AND PUT DOWN AND RIDICULE BLACK WOMEN. THESE SO CALLED MEN WOULD NOT CONSIDER A DARKSKIN WOMAN BEAUTIFUL BUT WOULD BEND OVER BACKWARD TO DATE OUT OF THEIR OWN RACE. THESE MEN IN THE PUBLIC EYE IE RAPPERS, ACTORS, ATHLETES HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING TO GENERATIONS OF BLACK WOMEN HERE AND THEY WONDER WHY THE BLACK WOMAN HAS ISSUES.AFRICAN AMERICAN MEN= YUCK

    in response to kigali’s statment…some men actually might find lauryn hill more attractive than beyonce…it’s all preference…just because the media says she’s attractive doesn’t mean EVERY man must put her on a pedastal..you’d be very surprised at what some people like…for instance..my mom thinks rihanna looks better than beyonce..i beg to differ, but that’s her opinion..my dad also thinks jill scott looks better than beyonce..with that said, it’s quite possible someone might think lauryn hill looks better than B

  • Kigali (I Love Stay-at-Home Wife/Mothers)

    @thanksabunch

    Yes but for the sake of mass marketing and the like you cant take niche opinions into consideration. you have to consider what most people find attractive. you have to consider what is universally appealing. Thats the point I was making and the point as usuall most people keep missing.

  • *Treasure*

    This dark skinv vs. light skin is so annoying. I look at the features. The shade is of no importance to me. There can be unappealing features on a light or dark skin person. If they have an unappealing nose, eyes, chin or lips, They would not look more attractive if there skin tone is lighter. I don’t know what happened to Tweet but she has gorgeous features. Kelly Roland is attractive as well. Beyonce and Halle would be gorgeous as a dark complexion woman. They have flawless features that would go well with any skin tone.

    You know whats ironic about that? A lot of black women find that more and more attractive nowadays (I know I do)…little do they know just how beautiful their complexion is perceived to be amongst us black women…

  • JJ

    @ Re

    I know some dark skin people have resentment towards others because of the preference for light over dark. They are always ridiculed for being dark. I think that is when the animosity sets in.

    I have a sister who was the only one in the family who was dark besides my father. Me and my other sister are a tan complexion and the other sister is dark like my dad. She was a cute girl but she was ridiculed for being dark and she has a lot of bitterness when she sees article such as this. I guess I don’t blame her. It is making a quiet statement that dark skin is unattractive and for that I am truly sorry for her. I just avoid the topic because I know it upsets her. She did however marry a dark skin man. I am glad that she is not engaging in self hatred like Wesley Snipes and Taye Diggs.

  • Amazing Man

    Why is it such a surprise to everyone that people with more euro features (light skin, thinner nose & lips, long hair, etc) are always considered the prime example of beauty in the western world? The majority culture is euro and as a result it has always been allowed to set the beauty standards . Even if you are Black, you have still been subjected to these euro images (tv, etc.) as the staple of beauty and sadly enough, after a while it became just part of our thinking too.

    Halle has white features and Serena has African features. Which one do you think people will consider beautiful? Unless you are in denial, the answer is Halle. I do not like this truth, but it is the truth so I deal with it.

    BTW, Regina King has the most sexiest eyes to me

  • missuk

    @re i know its so crazy i love dark men and i think my dark sister is beautiful i love to get darker in the sun. now my sister hates lighter skinned women and i feel like she has begun to resent me for being lighter.
    when i say to her shes so pretty she says so why dont men like me here, she says i have no understanding cause im lighter and maybe i dont

    I hate the term African American. I have never been to Africa and I have no known relatives that ever resided there. Looking back at my family history even in the early 1900′s no one resided in Africa. I don’t like to identify with a continent which I have no upbringing or genetic ties to.

    If your are mixed with black and white they label you african american. If your are spanish and black you are labled an african american. If you are korean and black they label you african american. They started labeling us Africans in the 1990′s and we were froced to adapt to this term. I don’t like it and I refuse to use towards myself or others. Especially when I don’t know what their ethnic background entails.

  • Queen Bitch

    well atleast they didnt use the line i hate the most “he/she is cute to be dark skinned”. thats is so rude. but im light and love it. i think everyone should love the skin they’re in

    ————————————————-

    Agreed! However, the problem is that the same white blood which gives a black person lighter skin also comes with euro/white features.

    Its not the actual skin color that is the determining factor, it is the features that come along with the injection of white/euro blood in the person.

    That probably may be but I have descendents from other etnicities as well. Should I just abandon that and use the term African because American people chose to do so. I did not chose to adapt this term for myself. I know what my racial background consists of, I am not confused. I have nothing against African people but I do not identify with their customs, the spiritual beliefs, their values, or their lanuage. It certainly is not self hatred on my part. I like who I am. I just refrain form calling myself African.

  • missuk

    Apparently… light skin is a factor too.
    NO SURPRISE. I mean, these are all good-looking people (except I always thought Lauren London was kind of creepy-looking and Halle Berry is overrated) but what about the other side of the spectrum? Idris Elba? Stacey Dash, anyone?

  • *Treasure*

    @ The third Eye

    The last time I checked American was the land of the freedom and opportunity. Everyone has the free will to adapt their own customs and spirtual beleifs, valuues and ideas. This is not the case for Africa. African people have their own customs according to their homeland. Black people have been labeled colored, Negroe and now Africans. I don’t like any of these terms. It is up to the individual and their ethnic background. If your are black and mixed with say Asian should they just adapt the term African? No that would be foolish. I just refuse to let others dictate to me what I should call myself when I know what my racial and ethnic background consists of. If others get offended oh well that is there problem not mine.

    You’re not as educated as you think you are. First, race is a social construct, not bilogical. Bioligically there is nothing that seperate white from black, black from asian, latino from asian. We all just have different viariation in our genes.

    I know America is the land of the free. But since your reasoning for not identifying with African American is because you don’t have the same customs, spiritual beliefs, and what not as African then you cannot be American by these standards because Americans have the rights not to be the same or agree on customs and beliefs. I’m sure you don’t agree with the customs and beliefs of all Americans seeing that we are all different.

    I would say shut the hell up, but hey this is America and we have freedom of speech…no matter how dumb the ideas may be…

    ————————————————— I did not say anything about my intellect or level of education. That is your perception. We were discussing using the term African American for all black people. I chose not to adapt that term and I stated my reasons why. Me and you are not from the same genetic pool so why should it bother you? If you don’t know what someones racial background entails you should be quite. It is foolish to get upset with others because they refuse to label themselves African.

    I can’t stand when people try to impede on others free will to make choices for themselves and invoke their ideas and views for everyone. That speaks volumes aabout your intellect not mine.

    You didn’t have to state it. I can read, comprehend, and analyze word usage. You have that freedom not use the term or identify with it. You have no idea the genetic pool I’m from just as I don’t know for sure what pool you’re from. I’m not bothered by you.

    I’m just pointing out how you’re logic and reasoning isn’t linear. You’ve contradicted yourself many times in your conversations with me and others on this post which speaks volumes about your intellect .I’m not imposing anything on you. I’m just pointing out your faulty reasoning. I’m all for new ideas, different ideas, etc. We can just agree to disagree, and that’s okay because in this great country (U.S.A) we’re allowed to do that.

  • http://www.google.com beauty is in the eye of the beholder

    I believe that scientifically there are human physical qualities than are inherently more appealing in order to produce healthy and dominant offspring to give them an edge in survival in the world. However, what we define as beauty is subjective as in other cultures, what we may not find attractive is the opposite to other people. What disturbs me about this thread is that when we are looking at beautiful people many of these individuals featured have white features. Of course as African Americans, it is not fair to assume that it must mean that each black person has to be pure African as American history is intrinsically linked between black and white. However, I think we need to deprogram our minds from focusing on beauty based on what is defined as beautiful in the mainstream media. I mean, look at the Miss France finalists – they are all biracial but in the eyes of many, they are black and considered by some to be the “good” looking ones yet they don’t define the majority of true African descent.

    My 2 cents.

  • tash

    to everyone what i find attractive is making the best out of what yr born with, beautiful skin means takin care of it regardless of complexion. keeping radiant n fresh mind body n soul yes days u hear things that may knock u back tenfolds everyone does but the next dont dwell on it, you move on do things that make u happy clear out negative thoughts. And do not live by jewish hollywood standards treat those around u with fragile care

    I agree with your statment.

    @ Tash

    I did not say anything about the term black. I was speaking about calling all black people in the USA African Americans when you don’t know what their ethnic bakground entails. A biracial person who looks black could have a parent or grandparents who is Asian, cuban, Irish descent, or Native American. Why should they solely adapt the term African American? It is their choice to identify with whatever they choose.

    There is a way to disagree with someone without insulting them for not agreeing with your views. It is called diplomacy and tact. Wow. . .

    *stepping gingerly around chaos in this thread*

    @reese615

    “You and I both know that if you want to change something, you don’t start at a macro level (overhauling public sentiment), you start at the micro level; on an individual basis. So, I suppose I’m saying that no matter how we slice it up, ultimately, the burden is going to end up on the individual. I’m kind of all over the place, so please let me know if that made sense.”

    No, your statement makes perfect sense, and I agree that the power to build one’s self esteem lies with individuals, but I also believe that education of the macro-level issue is key as well. The more we know about the roots of colorism and its impact, the better equipped we are to address it, IMHO.

    On the micro level, I have darker-complexioned friends whose parents instilled in them a very strong sense of self and so when they are subject to denigration, etc., they are able to leave those words unabsorbed. They know they are beautiful and no amount of ignorance will change that reality. But there are other girls/women who may not have the same level of inner strength and awareness and are could endure greater emotional repercussions from color-based divisions. If you lack a base of self-worth, you are vulnerable to the thoughts and judgments of others.

    But, ultimately, I do understand your perception. No amount of education or awareness will change the mindset of certain people — such as the person who has internalized a sense of inferiority and believes that “black” features are somehow undesirable.

    I am very interested in hearing more about your sisters’ experiences, and you mentioned that skin tone may have played a part in your sister’s marriage.

    *But, ultimately, I do understand your standpoint*
