    Morning Bossip,

Hm, what makes the sexiest person overall for me, is a person who’s comfident & comfortable in their skin regardless if people THINK orFEEL they’re a God given creature….they carry theirselves as such. So, I’d say the list that’s been pick for the cromy’s is pretty much true….nah let me add….

    Best male smile: Kanye

Oh and people on here talkin’ “unecessary” *****, make sure you on THIS morning take yo whiny ***** to church and get some prayer. If your silly broken crayola ***** can’t get with this post then you’re just not…that’s all there’s to say for you. Thinking cap today folks, put it on.

  8. Me

How about some people with black features please. I love Jada, but it doesn’t help anyone to use her as a best hair example. Also, Terrance Howard for eyes? Why? Cuz they are light? Please. He looks like a serial killer. Will Smith has beautiful almond eyes. And Naiomi Cambell has beautiful skin. And Jill Scott has beautiful hair. Also, Halle is cute, but I think people love her more for her body than her face. Her face is nice but not the best. I vote Gabrielle Bouvais Nillion for that! — Just my thoughts

  9. Alaina

This is so ridiculous. Yes. Let’s brainwash more black people into thinking that light skin is better than dark skin. That eurocentric features are better than african ones. Like wtf is this? This has got to be the biggest load of bull*****. It’s basically lets build a watered down black person who fits all of america’s white standards of beauty. I wish some of these people would really think about what they are doing. Before they do it. *****ing idiots. My heart goes out to all the dark skinned little girls and boys who are watching things like this and grow up with complexes.

wonder why they didn’t have me on that list

  12. finally18nlovingit

um for most intrigueing eyes,it should have definately been toni braxton 4 the female…

  13. Bigguy

^^^^Thanks. I thought I was the only person in America who thought Halle’s face is over rated. She’s pretty, but compared to Beyonce and Laurie London, Rihanna, Sanaa, Alicia Keys, Toni Braxton, Eva Pigford or Keri Hilson she’s running middle of the pack, if not a little behind it.

I have to totally disagree with the choice of Gabrielle Bouvais Nillion. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY overrated. She’s not even in the game. Sorry. Just the way I see it. She’s a nice woman though.

Also I agree that there a number of dark skinned women who should be on the list such as Mel B-my choice for sexiest butt and legs, Kelly Rowland, Shontell, Deborah *****.

  14. finally18nlovingit

ummmwhat is djimon honsou, serena williams, michael jordan, michelle obama, gabrielle union, taye diggs, naomi campbell??

dark sin.bossip didnt puto ne pic of a dark skin person they flop??c’mon now….

and if anybody disagrees with the list your not forced to watch and parti*****te in this “bringing down our own people” program……

instead of complaining compile a list, and let us see hat you see and consider sexy, like bossip suggested instead of complaining all the time….

  15. diva in training

What, no plus size women are considered sexy on this list? Jill Scott? Queen Latifah? Star Jones (before the surgery)? Come on people; most women in America are size 12 on average. Can we have more realistic looking women here?

  16. brttny

    @WTF

….what are you even talking about?
Taye Diggs, Michael Jordan, Gabrielle Union, Naomi Campbell, Djimon Hounsou, Serena Williams…

    What are they?!?

  17. Touche

Shame Shame Shame on bossip for perpetuating eurocentric values and standards of beauty. I would hope that we as a people have come to love ourselves for who we are rather than having someone else define for us what is and what is not beautiful. Have you guys seen the do*****entary The Souls of Black Girls? In my perspective, that it is the media who is trying to decide what is beautiful and what is acceptable. Enough already! Take a look at Hollyweird and the m***** media and very rare do we see dark skin African American in front of the camera or on film. Do you really think that this is an oversight? It is appalling to think that journalist would be engaging in such unworthy reporting. Shame Shame Shame.

  18. Sho-Nuff the Shogun of Harlem (The Meanest, Prettiest, Baddest *****lo Down Around This Town)

make sure when yall are compiling those lists dont forget about the Shogun.

  19. Bigguy

My problem with dark skinned/light skinned arguement is that certain people are just easier on the eyes. I’m sorry, it really has little to do with skin tone but everything with how well the features work. When people bring up the light/dark debate they always go to the most extreme on either side. Forgive me but Indie Arie is not better looking than Alicia Keys. That’s just stupid to even *****ume that. Her skin color has little to do with it. That does not mean Ms. Arie is not attractive but when we do comparisons we tend to look for the stand outs. I like Kelly Rowland but she’s not in Beyonce’s league. Similarly I don’t think many women can hold a candle to Toni Braxton!

Whites do the exact some thing; how is Scarlett Johanssen better looking than Natalie Portman? Or Paris Hilton better looking than Kim Kardashians? When we go to extremes we are denying the obvious, and I think that is why such opinions rarely keep traction.

  20. Meggie Letterman

    @Bigguy:

Good points….I personally feel as you’ve said, it’s just a matter of opinion of what you find FIND attractive.

  21. What the...

Well, the list IS the typical famous Black people list ALWAYS used. So I’m not surprised. Seriously most can’t even name 5, who’s Black and under 20 acting that people actully know of hand…

this list was played out in 2005.

  22. oh

    Best Personality: JAY-Z!!!

    Best Look: Halle Berry

    Best hair do: Rihanna

    Best baller: Lebron James

  23. Toni

    @Bigguy—-well said!

  24. John

Alicia Keys is good-looking….Really, I don’t see it. She looks like a regular chick…

Symmetry, bone structure (strong jaw line, high cheekbones), toned body, taller than the average person, perfect skin and straight teeth are universal beauty characteristics. Anything else such as naturally long eyelashes, full lips and naturally arched eyebrows are pluses.

  25. Friend Or Foe

Not ANOTHER post about the light-skinned vs dark-skinned complex. Ugh! This has to be thee most played out and tired argument if I’ve ever heard one. It’s funny how this steadily remains an issue within the black community. Black people are so brainwashed into this “I’m better than you because______”, mentality, that its become quite pathetic, to say the least.

What makes a person attractive to ME, is someone who is confidant and has self-esteem and a mind to think on their own. Of course, looks come into play to a certain extent, but surely, it shouldnt be the end all be all. And surely it shouldnt be based on how light or dark the person is. Though people do have their own preferences.

I guess I just dont get this argument of dark vs light. It’s repetitive. It divides what is beautiful as a whole, it makes people spew out bull***** when trying to make a point of which is better. There is no better.

There are only different shades of beauty.

Stop being led into the pool of ignorance by the media and Hollyweirds.

  26. Sydney™

I can understand some of the arguments on this thread — while there are men/women with darker complexions included on the list, they are not pictured above, and that could have been easily remedied by, say, putting up a photo of Gaby, Naomi, or Djimon. Images are important, and people often react to what they see.

    @Bigguy

“I like Kelly Rowland but she’s not in Beyonce’s league.”

I happen to disagree — Give it 10 years, and you’ll see. :)

  27. John

Kerry Washington has great bone structure as does Eva Pigford and Christy Turlington….

I’m sorry but I just don’t see what’s the fuss with Beyonce…She is not “cl*****ically beautiful.”

Her sex appeal makes up for this I guess.

  28. TRUTH IS....

EVE, MARY J AND KELLY ROWLAND HAS BETTER SKIN TEXTURE THAN BEE…SORRY…AND I THINK TYRESE HAS GREAT SKIN FOR MEN – SOFT N SMOOTH

  29. CaribChica

HMMMM….IS IT ME OR ARE ALL OF THESE PEOPLE MIXED? BEY IS MORE OR LESS ON HER MOTHER’S SIDE, BUT STILL…..STANDARDS OF BEAUTY ARE F*CKED IN THE AFRICAN-AMERICAN COMMUNITY.

  30. Hurdenuf

Arms of Steel Will Smith….what a joke! what happen to ben wallace or lebron james, they’ve got arms of steel.

  31. John

I have always said Kelly is a bad chick….Man…She is so pretty. Beyonce will age really bad IMO.

  32. CaribChica

‘ME’ & ‘ALAINA’, I 100% agree with you. garcelle beauvais has one of the best smiles.

  33. Justtoomuch

    @Bigguy

Mel B isn’t dark skinned. Take another look at her! Her and Sanaa are about the same complexion.

  34. Sho-Nuff the Shogun of Harlem (The Meanest, Prettiest, Baddest *****lo Down Around This Town)

there are attractive and unattractive people of all races, example Tiny TI’s wife is not attractive at least to me, I see light skinned people all the time that are not that attractive, and the same goes for whites, latino’s, asians, and dark skinned people, it just depends on the persons features light or dark, attractive is attractive and vice versa.

  35. BXdude

    sexist legs: Candace Parker

  36. Friend Or Foe

Hmm, I wonder why having a bright mind is the last thing on the list. Surely this isnt in consecutive order?

Isnt a prime example of this the girl that *****ed Ray J then *****ed Bobby Valentino? Pretty face, but dumb as a door*****?

    LOL

    SMH

Lets put a little more emphasis on what wont age and find something that you would still be attracted to later on.

  37. BXdude

    typo: Sexiest

  38. jasmine

last time i checked gabrielle union has dark skin
garcelle beauvias got the best dimples.

    Best eyes: beyonce
    best smile; beyonce
    best thighs : beyonce
best face; beyonce and halle berry
    best skin; beyonce

  39. Justtoomuch

    ______________________________
You are correct when your say talk in respect to the light skinned/darked skinned situation, but and I mean a big BUT, is that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some people would say the reverse in that, Alicia Keyes can’t hold a candle to Indie Arie. There is no “perfect looking person “to everyone! That person has and never will exist!

  40. Bigguy

    @Sydney

I’m comparing Kelly and Beyonce now. In ten years good living could blow Beyonce up, or stress wear Kelly down. Who knows. They both could have babies and be off everyone’s list, which unfortunately tends to happen.

I also agree that Bossip could end the entire thread by adding some dark skins in the picture. But then I wonder would readers pay attention to the story? I admit the sight of Laurie London got me pressing ‘continue’.

    @John

high cheeks and height are not universal marks of beauty. Actually, for women oval faces, with almond shaped eyes are more universally accepted. And in most cultures the men prefer women who are shorter than them. Also toneness is subjective; recent studies have shown that waist to hips ratios better predict women men are attractived to than simply weight or muscle tone alone. This explains why the shapes of many larger women such as Senera, Beyonce, and Maryln Monroe is considered ideal. I agree with you on the rest. Plus I think humor and the ability to easily enter conversations is sexy. In fact I prefer these to confidence and high self esteem which I find can sometimes make a person boring.

I agree that looks are just the begining.

  41. Symone

I don’t understand how these threads get so damn out of hand!! Bossip is not asking the question of who they think is sexy? Or what makes a person sexy? TV One Access is doing the asking. This is for a upcoming TV show called “Build A Beauty: The Perfect Man and Woman”.

They are not saying that light skinned is sexier than dark skinned. Bossip used pictures of some really good looking entertainers, but they included all kinds of people for there list. You can make your own list and then you’ll need to tune in this Sunday night, April 5th at 7pmET to fill in the blanks!

I personally love Tyrese, Ginuwine, Djimon, Terrence Howard and Jay-Z!! I think all these men have sex appeal. They have their own uniqueness. I can build my own sexiest man using features from all of them. J

As far as the ladies are concerned, I love Beyonce, Halle, Kerry Washington and Naomi Campbell.

I could go on and on. In the end we may all consider very different people sexy.

  42. bronzedasian

most luscious lips, male: LL Cool J, but of course!

and why it always got to be light skinned/dark skinned? i just experienced something like this at work.

  43. Sydney™

    @Bigguy

“I’m comparing Kelly and Beyonce now. In ten years good living could blow Beyonce up, or stress wear Kelly down.”

And, I’m saying, in my opinion, that Kelly now is a very attractive woman who can stand on her own, against or not against Beyonce, and you will see that even more in the future.

“I also agree that Bossip could end the entire thread by adding some dark skins in the picture. But then I wonder would readers pay attention to the story? I admit the sight of Laurie London got me pressing ‘continue’.”

Why wouldn’t readers pay attention if darker-complexioned celebrities were added to the story?

  44. Brit

These lists are a crock of crap, until you’ve seen everyone in the world you can’t judge whose the most beautiful.

I honestly have always thought that Alica, Halle and Bey were overrated in the looks department. Bey has average facial features, she is just boring to look at. Alicia has bad skin (acne) a total pizza face, but her talent is the only thing that shows beauty. All three of them look like average women, they are not cl*****ic beauties.

It’s sad that bossips standard of beauty is defined by fair skin and caucasian features, there are only 3 dark/brown skinned people on that list. But it reflects how ignorant many blacks are, they immediately see a fair person and call them beautiful even when that person looks like *****. When will we as a race move on from this nonsense?

  45. Sydney™

Clarification: Why wouldn’t readers pay attention if the photos of darker-complexioned celebrities were added above?

  46. WILL´S ARMS OF STEAL

YOU HATERZ CAN LICK MY NUTS B4 I SLAP U SILLY WITH MY ARMS OF STEAL.

  47. Ara

The Question of the Day: What makes the sexiest Person???

Looks can contribute to a person being sexy, but not necessarily so. I’ve seen absolutely beautiful men and women that I did’nt think were sexy (although it is in the eyes of the beholder).
Then, I’ve seen some men and women that were’nt that stunning (again, it’s in the eyes of the beholder)and were sexy as all outdoors. I think it’s a combination of things. Sexiness exudes from within. Confidence, sensuality, intelligence, the way you walk, the way you talk it can be a lot of things, the way you run your fingers through your hair and if all of these things are wrapped up in a very attractive package that does’nt hurt either. But again, it’s all in the eyes of the beholder.

  48. %0 cent is ugly

The standard of beauty for Blacks in America reflects the same standard that Hispanics and Asians and white use. Hispanic light skinned folks are considered more beautiful, light skinned Asians are considered more beautiful. We live in the Western world and whether you like it or not standards are set by the dominant group. I am tired of dark skinned Black people constantly whining about people thinking they are ugly, you can’t force people to think you look good when you don’t. I bet most of yall crying are ugly Jamaicans anyway. That African dude Dijmon or whatever the ***** his name is, is not cute. Maybe he would be considered cute in Africa but not in the west. And I’m glad they didn’t include you big fat ugly Mammies on the list with your fat flabby bodies. Nothing uglier than a obese darkskinned man or woman! You look like slave mammies! Most African Americans are brown skinned the really dark ones are from the caribbean who come here. Most of the trouble-makers going to prison and ***** are all dark-skinned anyway.

  49. BMOREBOSS

    “WTF?

no darkskin people are examples of sexy? get out of here BOSSIP. you always flop.”

maaannn WTF is this person talkin about?? these are all the darkskin people bossip had on there list…

    Michael Jordan
    Taye Diggs
    Gabrielle Union
    Djimon Hounsou
    Serena Williams
    Naomi Campbell
    LeBron James

it was 7 darkskinned people and 12 brown or light skin people. so why is this person saying theres no darkskin people who are pretty on here?? SMH i guess mova*****as on this site always hating on everything. they probley all had to be dark skin for that person huh LMFAO!! thats a pretty ok list bossip i *****s with it. need stacey dash in there somewere tho. like the chik with the best over 40 aura(not swag….AURA!!! *****s wearing out the word swag now so i just started using that LMFAO!!) maybe yal could add that one haha. but the best one is meagon goods lippppzzzz hmmm no body *****ing with those other then that chick Toni off the show Girlfriends LOL now she got some LIPPPPZZZZZ

  50. STFU

You Estelle looking women are just ugly so make you own list.

  51. YOUNG BERG

    DARK BUTTS ALWAYS COMPLAINING.

  52. Hoe hoe

beyonce has the worst thighs not the best. Beyonce’s thighs are short, stump, too meaty and floppy. Ciara has the best thighs I have ever seen. Beyonce has the prettiest face though.

  53. Friend Or Foe

Ugh…here come the youngins with their ignorance.

    It’s a wrap for this post……

  54. Raymond

It’s the dark-skinned Black people who cause all the problems. I work at a prison and every Black male who come in there is dark-skinned. You rarely see light-skinned Black men going to jail. If a light-skinned male comes in all the black ones try to get at him.

  55. bronzedasian

uuuggghhh! Why cant we all just get along!?

  56. Sydney™

    @Friend or Foe

“Ugh…here come the youngins with their ignorance.

    It’s a wrap for this post……”

LOL! You took the words right out of my mouth.

The floods of ignorance have officially begun this Sunday morning.

    This thread is done.

  57. Friend Or Foe

    @Sydney:

You already know. It was pretty good thus far. People agreed and disagreed with each other, respectfully.

Dont respond to one of ‘em though because you might get this:

***** YOU *****!!!!! I BET YOU ONE OF DEM FAT BYTCHES WHO IS BLACK AND NASTY…AND YOU ARE JUST HATER!!!!!

    LOL

    You know…..kid mentality *****.

  58. Sydney™

***** YOU *****!!!!! I BET YOU ONE OF DEM FAT BYTCHES WHO IS BLACK AND NASTY…AND YOU ARE JUST HATER!!!!!”

LOL! Yes, you are absolutely right. It could have turned into a productive, enlightening discussion, but, eh. . .

    Kids. . .SMH.

  59. Ford

The Black people shown above on the list have a universal look and appeal to them. They are simply beautiful to look at, all politics aside, and they would be considered good-looking by most people around the world. I know some of you don’t want to hear that but its true. Brown to light complexions are sort of in the middle, not too dark, not too light, but just right to the world. I am dark-skinned and I travel quite a bit in my career and I see this preference for certain beauty types world-wide. All societies set their own cl*****ification for beauty and the Black celebrities above would be acceptable wherever they ventured. Just keep yourself physically fit and maintain a positive attitude about yourself regardless.

  60. Friend Or Foe

    @Sydney:

I know right. Then they wonder why people come at them they way they do. Even on the net, to get respect you have to give it. But everyone wants to act like they are someone else and pretend. Who are you trying to impress on the damn net? lol

Anyway…I’m getting pretty sick of this topic though. It seems that this topic comes around like the Eclipse. And when it does, you get the same examples and *****ogies as the last discussion, when really, there shouldnt be one.

Point blank, white america has embedded in our pysche, what beauty is and should be.

-Long silky hair- which is why almost all female stars have the “white girl” hairstyle similar to Lauren Londons. The long wavy weave, with the sway away bang. Now count how many black females have that style. Minus Rhianna and the like (which is why I like Rhianna).

-Pointed-noses/Chiseled features- notice how more and more black females are opting to get nose jobs to slim their noses down.

-Thin/Almost Skinny bodies- most black women have stayed true to their natural shape and wont change much in this area. But there are some still who think that mirroring a calvin klein sickly looking model is what they are supposed to look like.

While we are so busy trying to look like them, they are busy trying to look like US. Notice how NOW they are putting more emphasis on “how big butts are”. Notice how they are tanning to try and get the shade that we are. Notice how they are starting inject ***** in their lips to make them fuller. Notice how everyone wants ***** implants now.

It’s just sad that we fight within our own realm over something so insignificant as skin color. Believe me, they would KILL for some melanin.

    Light or dark.

  61. Hazel

I think dark skinned people need to stop foaming at the mouth and reacting negatively whenever they see pictures of light skinned Black people who are thought to be beautiful. We need to stop bringing this mess up all the time and starting ***** about it because I get really sick and tired of hearing it.

  62. dumb *****es

That’s becuz dark butts are obsessed with complexions and *****ody cares but them. All they do is complain and *****.

  63. Ara

    @ %0 cent is ugly

AGAIN, BEAUTY IS IN THE EYES OF THE BEHOLDER
Now, I’m about to become politically incorrect. Light skin does not automatically equate being beautiful, all of those ugly a** white people I see. Beauty is based on an individual to individual basis. The western media keeps shoveling Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt down our throats as being beautiful, they are NOT beautiful to me, but that’s what the western media wants to showcase as being beautiful. Angelina has crusted lips that always look as if they need chapstick, vaseline or something, not to mention those ugly tats. Talk about overratted.

  64. Friend Or Foe

They want to make you hate your own self so they put you AGAINST each other by creating hate, envy, and jealousy.

And what do we do? Fall right into the trap.

Another thing to divide the m*****es. I’m starting to believe that not only are we still a sensitive people, but a naive one as well.

    SMH

Know who you are and trust that you are just as beautiful as any one else. It’s that simple.

  65. Sydney™

    @Friend or Foe

“It’s just sad that we fight within our own realm over something so insignificant as skin color.”

I totally agree — This has been an issue for generations (with historical roots), and I’m really surprised that some people react as if they are not aware that there are individuals who do *****ign beauty and other characteristics to others based on their skin tone. And it’s wrong, damaging, and debilitating. Just look at some of these comments for evidence.

“Know who you are and trust that you are just as beautiful as any one else. It’s that simple.”

    So true.

  66. Ara

    *overrated*

  67. Latoya

It won’t be an issue if dark-skinned people would stop bringing it up all the time! I am sick of it so stop it please because you just make dark skinned people look bad and resentful. I hate coming on this blog because dark skinned folks are always complaining about this subject. Just forget it because your complaining doesn’t change a thing. No wonder light skinned people just roll their eyes at us like something is wrong with us. I am really dark but I don’t complain and make nasty remarks about light skin people. we the ones who keep the madness going not the light skins.

  68. Sydney™

    @Friend or Foe

“Know who you are and trust that you are just as beautiful as any one else.”

I will add, however, that this is a statement that is often easier said than carried out, particularly when, as you pointed out, a certain “look” is deemed to be the epitome of what is beautiful, and it veers away from the image you see in the mirror. This issue matters to young girls, for example, who don’t see girls/women who look like them in popular media.

On another note, how are people on here so sure that the posters who are making comments on color are, in fact, “dark-skinned?” You don’t have to be a certain skin tone to know that this issue exists.

  69. reese615

Man, I just love when people get to going back and forth about dark skinned/light skinned issues. Honestly speaking, if you have an issue with being dark or light, it’s with yourself. That’s like arguing differences between having thin or fuller lips. Or a narrow shape as opposed to more curvy. It’s all relative, baby. It is what the ***** it is. I happen to be dark skinned myself and I chose pics based upon what might catch a p*****er-by’s eye. Nothing more, nothing less. I always tell people who keep feeling defensive about a bunch of ***** to look within themselves. I had an issue with being dark…when I was an adolescent (please ponder that). But as a grown man, I realized that it’s gonna be whatever it’s gonna be, and your skin tone is hardly the catalyst to sexiness.

~And to people who say ***** Bossip; ***** you, ya heard? That’s not Bossip’s list, it’s TV One’s list. Pleeeeease try to read every now and then as it will do wonders for your comprehension skills. And it will also save you the embarr*****ment of arguing a point with much fervor that isn’t even of issue to begin with. Be cool.

  70. bronzedasian

“Know who you are and trust that you are just as beautiful as any one else. It’s that simple.”

    totally agree 100%…

you have to be confident with yourself…if you are confident and know who you are…you dont have to worry about who is light skinned, dark skinned, olive toned..etc..you are only focused on yourself.

I think the comments about having and exuding confidence are nice, but let’s not kid ourselves that this is no more than an “internal” issue. When you have girls/women who are regularly told that they are “pretty to be dark-skinned” and other similar comments, that’s an ingrained mentality that affects individuals who are subject to such ignorance.

I noticed that too, Sydney. That some posters *****ume that if you are talking about this subject then you must be dark-skinned. What kind of conclusion is that?

The issue exists and ALL people will comment.

And to the few people that mentioned that its the person’s OWN issue when the start to question if they are as pretty as ___________ <—- you fill in the blank.

These magazines, and commercials, and retarded surveys like this, make people who are easily manipulated question their own worth and beauty. This is what they are designed to do.

Which is why businesses who specialize in cosmetic alterations to enhance or change the way you look are making boo-koos amounts of money.

People are not satisifed with they way they came into the world. Society will have you *****ed up if you dont have a strong sense of self. And this goes for all other outlets too.

My little cousin for example, is dark-skinned. Pretty as can be. She is 19 years old now, but when she was younger she had NO CLUE AS TO WHAT BEAUTY WAS and she had NO CLUE AS TO WHAT LIGHT VS DARK WAS.

That is, until she grew up and then she became aware that there was a “colorstruck” issue within the black community as well as what America thought was beautiful. I remember she would call me crying because the other black kids at school would tease her about her skin color and her hair being kinky. Ironically, this treatment came from her own peers, not white people.

We are just brainwashed. Simply put.

This mentality will never change so why try and fall victim to the bull*****?

Be happy that you wake up every morning and have a heartbeat. Be comfortable in your own skin because it’s you and you will have to live in it for the time God allows.

Trust me, there are WAY more bigger fish to fry. You’d be amazed at how much you’d find out if you took this energy and exerted it elsewhere.

  80. Whut??

Here we go again…. green/blue eyes and lite skin make someone sexy. Why bother with something like this when it involves Black people? We’ll always pick what’s closest to White features anyway.

  82. QualityLady

The media chooses celebs based on sales (which happens to be people who resemble them – those with lighter skin); however, we make the real difference within our own race. I swear WE are our worst enemies at times. Sorry, the people that were picked ARE attractive and yes their are others who could have made this list but they didn’t, get over it!

I can agree with you there, especially having 4 older sisters who could all be considered dark, but, at some point in time they have to take responsibility for determining their self image and self worth. I could actually chat about that for quite some time as one of my sisters (absolutely gorgeous, btw) married a white cat and I believe it had to do with her skin tone. Another day, another time…I gotta write, you’re gonna get me fired!!!

It’s a misinformed conclusion. Speaking for myself, I fall in the middle as far as skin tone is concerned (I have been called “light-skinned” on occasion), and I’m still aware of the myriad issues our community has with color. I’ve never been told, for example, that I’m “pretty for a medium/light-skinned girl.”

    @Reese615

Yes, I agree that we must all determine our own self-worth, but it would be dismissive not to acknowledge that there are added pressures tied to issues within our community. If I continually heard certain statements/saw certain non-reflective images, it would be a challenge to not have that “bias” negatively impact me in some way. While we’re asking certain individuals to take control of their own self-perception, we have to address the larger issue of the divisions that have a psychological impact. This is not some imaginary problem that some individuala are making a fuss about — it’s very real.

Lauren London is the most beautiful, Halle defies age. Alicia Keyes is left out.

  100. Catty*****

LMFAO, at this whole thing. Okay they’re trying to create a perfect face, but how many nose jobs has Halle Berry had? At least two, Beyonce has also had a nose job and breast implants. Point I’m trying to make is that all these celebrities they think are so “perfect” owe that to a plastic surgeon.

  101. Friend Or Foe

My bad….Sydney! Theres no A in Sydney! lol

  102. Queeney

This is stupid…didn’t they try this on some other network and the hosts got smashed by the media? What message is this sending…I won’t support…looks like tv one has gone hollywood…booooooo!

  103. Me

The problem is that “best skin” and “best face” and “best hair” all have to do with complexion/euro features. Its not about the over all number of darker people on the list. Having good arms is color neutral unlike who we think is attractive or what types of hair or skin we value. Thats why people are complaining. Also, dont *****ume that everyone who is insulted by this is “dark”. Sooo much ignorance. My black ***** is going to go back to studying.

  104. thanksabunch

first of all teairra marie, amerie, eva, bre are not OLDER..last time i checked they were in their mid 20s..the other chicks are older but they exemplify sex appeal in my opinion…oh i forgot about keisha knight pulliam…if i don’t think lauren london is all that attractive i shouldn’t be riduculed for it..to each his own..she’s cute, but she’s not as beautiful as every one makes her out to be…the same goes for Halle..she is played as well..I’m tired of hearing her name…and i’m not dark…i’m actually brown…closer to a red complexion..name calling is for people of a rudimentary mindset..you just showed ur age..

Notice how they are tanning to try and get the shade that we are. Notice how they are starting inject ***** in their lips to make them fuller. Notice how everyone wants ***** implants now.”

That actually isnt true. The most common plastic surgery procedure for white women is liposuction. Then nose jobs, eye surgery, and breast augmentation. For non surgical it is botox. Not sure where you get your information about other surgeries white women get.

Also the preference for fair women isnt exclusively European. Its world wide before Europe was Europe and before Europe even became a colonial power. See India. They have thousands of years of prefernce for light skinned women.

  108. NOr*Cal

woah ya’ll really let William Lynch get to you
look at us sitting here in 2009 arguing about light skin/ dark skin

  109. Catty*****

I also wanted to add an interesting point a former professor of mine made about beauty standards. He said that some black females will try so hard to emulate white beauty standards because they feel that’s what black men want. Examples are wearing blonde or straight weave, color contacts, skin bleaching, nose jobs to thin out wide noses, breast implants etc. However he made a good point and said that all those procedures do is reinforce to black men that the Euro standard of beauty is what’s ideal as opposed to appreciating African beauty. It won’t necessarily make the black woman more attractive in a black man’s eyes. Thought that was interesting.

  110. Kigali (I Love Stay-at-Home Wife/Mothers)

    @Friend or Foe,

“Me as well. And you’re right, I’ve never heard that either. And somehow, its not right. But I’ve heard all day….”she’s pretty for a dark-skinned girl”, like they arent supposed to be pretty or something.”

In a way yes. It would be the same as a Chinese guy hearing “youre sexy for a CHinese guy.” I mean Chinese guys or rather East Asians are dam short and that isnt valued in a man. Likewise darkskin isnt valued in women. Obviously there are exceptions but thats just a rule.

  111. hellonursenancy

Oh, this is for blacks only. Ok, because for Best Eyes, if you were going to include all races in Hollywood, it would have been Robert Downey Jr. and Winona Ryder, sorry it’s true. Best Dimples is Gabrielle Union, Lauren London and Gabby habe Best Skin. Lauryn Hill also has really good skin.

    Best Teeth: Thandie Newton
Best Bald Head: Michael Jordon AND Amber Rose

Side note: This list is kinda flawed. I’m gonna need them to include ALL black folks from the color spectrum (we come in different hues, you know), not just the ones THEY consider beautiful.

  112. Kigali (I Love Stay-at-Home Wife/Mothers)

    @Caty *****,

What is African beauty? Africans kinda look different depending on the region.

  113. Catty*****

@Kigali: I didn’t mean “African” in terms of talking specifically about people from Africa. I meant it as saying ethnic, I probably should have said ethnic.

  114. reese615

    @ Sydney

Yes, I agree that we must all determine our own self-worth, but it would be dismissive not to acknowledge that there are added pressures tied to issues within our community. ______________

Damn it, I knew you were going to write something engaging and make me come back. Your comment above is spot on in its diagnosis of a real and very serious psychological issue within our community. I suppose I am from a different school of thought in that, while a diagnosis is indeed necessary, I believe the forward-thinking and systematic approach to overcoming that ailment, if you will, is where we should concentrate our efforts. Sydney, we can spend all day acknowledging a problem exists, but the real impact comes in the action. You and I both know that if you want to change something, you don’t start at a macro level (overhauling public sentiment), you start at the micro level; on an individual basis. So, I suppose I’m saying that no matter how we slice it up, ultimately, the burden is going to end up on the individual. I’m kind of all over the place, so please let me know if that made sense.

  115. Mrz Roc

Ok all them is fine and Dandy but what about Taraji P.Hinson,Keisha Knight Pullian,Kelly Rowland,Eve,Gabrielle Union,Meagan Good,Tatianna Ali,Chilli, OOOH thats right they are Dark Skinned women, Well What About Monique, Natalie Desselle, Tocarra Jones, Queen Latifah, Jordin Sparks, Jennifer Hudson,Lalia Ali,Jill Scott….Wait a minute ooops out of there league again I guess The a little bit to much over a Buck 05 (105 lbs) But much props to them all cause they are all beautiful black Women

  116. thanksabunch

Catty***** that’s a very interesting point you bring up..however if there was some validity to your professor’s statemnt….then why are black men attracted to women who look more european? what do you think attributes to that? most black men i know rather date a chick with a look similar to beyonce instead of lauryn hill..yet they get on their soapbox and talk about “the white man’s holding me down”….”black pride this and that”…if the white man is that much of an annoyance to you then why are you oggling women that possess similar features?….just food for thought…

  117. NOr*Cal

    @ thansabunch
Uncle Ruckus syndrome? I’m sure Kigali can answer that question he seems to know something about that

  118. thanksabunch

lol..that sounds about right..that’s the only thing I can think of

  119. Catty*****

@Thanksabunch: What you mentioned was the point he was trying to get across. He wasn’t necessarily saying that black men are going to go out and get white women because that’s what they’ve been brainwashed to believe is beautiful, he was saying that they will tend to seek out black women who most closely conform to the Euro standard of beauty. Just like you mentioned, most black men would probably prefer Beyonce over Kelly. And even when you look at ads in black magazines, the majority of the models don’t have typically ethnic feautres, ***** Puffy doesn’t even use black women in his ads anymore.

  120. Ara

The color division among Blacks, is an end product from the days of slavery and has been perpetuated from generation to generation. These are the emotional scars and brainwashing that we must overcome. In the days of slavery, there were the “field Negros”, who were dark complexion, (working in the sun all day picking cotton and tobacco), and there were the “house Negros” who worked in the house, Blacks who were mixed with white blood as a result from being raped by their masters. The “house negros” had more priviliges and were treated better than the “field negros. Thus beginning the idea that the lighter skin was better than the darker skin.

  121. thanksabunch

got ya…exactly! it kills me when people say beyonce looks better than kelly or tatiana ali aint got ***** on lauren london…excuse me…who designated those two as the “be all and end all”…why must we compare? (although I think some people look better than others..lol) attractive is attractive and it comes in many forms…and we all know Puffy has internal conflict issues…his addiction to all things light or latin is sickening

  122. Kigali (I Love Stay-at-Home Wife/Mothers)

    @Ara,

Not sure about that. I have seen a preference for atleast light skinned women within African societies as well. Technically those that stayed didnt get caught up in the slave trade but they still have those standards for women atleast as well. And btw, light skinned black men have never been prized most of the time. They have oftentimes been subject to ridicule because they were pretty boys or soft- not as masculine as darker men. Which proves that light skinned is *****ociated with femininity. If it can make a light skinned man seem less masculine by contrast.

  123. leavemebe

sexiness is not just physical features. it can be how one is confident, intelligent, happy with whom they are. i can go on and on. we are conditioned to believe that color, hair texture and certain body size equate sexiness. a good conversation with someone who is intelligent is sexy. but since we are conditioned to look at someone with the above descriptions we will always think that that is all there is to sexiness.

  124. Kigali (I Love Stay-at-Home Wife/Mothers)

    @Caty *****,

” I didn’t mean “African” in terms of talking specifically about people from Africa. I meant it as saying ethnic, I probably should have said ethnic.”

Saying ethnic makes even less sense. There are hundreds of ethnicities in Africa.

    YOU PEOPLE ARE SO FUNNY

  126. Catty*****

LOL,@thanksabunch: I agree, I don’t understand why we can’t just appreciate attractiveness in all races and shades, why does it have to be a contest? Every race has beauty just in a different way. By the way I was at lunch with a group of white male co-workers a while back, and we started talking about Beyonce. Every single one of them thought she was an overrated tranny(one called her a RuPaul look alike) and said Kelly had always been the prettiest one in Destiny’s Child. As far as Puffy, the thing that irritates me is he has most of his children by a dark skinned black woman, but black women aren’t good enough to be models in his ads? It’s so hypocritical.

  127. Kigali (I Love Stay-at-Home Wife/Mothers)

    @thanksabunch,

“then why are black men attracted to women who look more european? what do you think attributes to that? most black men i know rather date a chick with a look similar to beyonce instead of lauryn hill.”

Probably but I think they would rather date Lauryn Hill than Solange. You comparent Ms Hill who is attractive to someone who by all acounts would be considered more attractive than her.

It isnt necessarily anti black to consider fairer women more attractive than darker women. Lots of women have expressed a preference for dark men, does that mean they are anti white?

    Male: Rick Fox

—————————————————What was Bossip smoking when they declared Jada pinkett has the best hair. HELLO!! Jada wears a weave and the braids are unauthentic as well. Vanessa Williams has lovely hair. She has a nice texture, beautiful natural blonde tones, and her hair is long in length. Vanessa’s Ex hubby Rick Fox has a nice full head of curly hair and it is gorgeous.

  148. Most Intriguing Eyes

As much as I’m not into Terrence, I agree. I think most intriguing eyes goes to Vanessa Williams. Not just cause of the color…

    Or Paula Patton…

  149. AVA SCOTT

I dont know Mrs Purple Rain…when I see young black girls wanting to be light and wear weave…a and I do see it in my capicity…

  150. Jada Pinkett best hair?

NOT SO MUCH BAD EXPERIENCE BUT IM A BROWN SKINNED WOMAN SAY TYRAS COLOUR MY FAMILY AND I MOVED HER FOR MY DADS WORK WELL MY YOUNGER SISTER IS DARK THE SAME AS MY MOTHER AND WHEN WE GO OUT WHAT MY SISTER GO THROUGH BY AMERICAN MEN IS FOUL. EVERYTIME WE GO IT ITS”OH WOW YOU CUTE FOR A DARK CHICK” EVEN ONCE “OH I DONT DATE DARK WOMEN BUTYOU FOREIGN SO I WOULD DATE YOU” I HAVE WATCHED MY SISTER GO FROM A FUN LOVING CONFIDENT YOUNG WOMAN TO SOMEONE WHO HATES BEING DARK AND THINKS THAT EVERYTIME WE GO OUT NO ONE WILL TALK TO HER CAUSE SHES DARK, SHE NOW HAS VERY LOW SELF ESTEEM AND SELF HATRED. THIS TO ME IS SOOOO SAD.
AND THIS HAS ONLY BEEN FROM DEALING WITH AFRICAN AMERICAN MEN.

  152. Kigali (I Love Stay-at-Home Wife/Mothers)

    @thanksabunch

Yes but for the sake of m***** marketing and the like you cant take niche opinions into consideration. you have to consider what most people find attractive. you have to consider what is universally appealing. Thats the point I was making and the point as usuall most people keep missing.

  153. *Treasure*

This dark skinv vs. light skin is so annoying. I look at the features. The shade is of no importance to me. There can be unappealing features on a light or dark skin person. If they have an unappealing nose, eyes, chin or lips, They would not look more attractive if there skin tone is lighter. I don’t know what happened to Tweet but she has gorgeous features. Kelly Roland is attractive as well. Beyonce and Halle would be gorgeous as a dark complexion woman. They have flawless features that would go well with any skin tone.

  154. Dre

    @missuk
wow, sorry to hear about that!! yea that’s how they are too, african americans have slave mentality, so trust me it’s not a big deal.tell ur sister not to worry there are also african men here in the state who are not colorstruck.

  155. JJ

Taye Diggs must be removed from all black list!! His black p***** has been revoked!!

——————————————————————————————————Taye Diggs and Wesley Snipes get best coon and sell out awards. That is all they deserve. They hate their blackness and they are darker than most.

  156. The Third Eye

Wow, I’m shocked by the lack of paper sack brown to dark skinned people on this list who are just as beautiful.

Bossip is probably just trying to start some *****. You know they want us to argue with one another using their old willie lynch tactics.

Let’s make our own list. That will be more accurate!

  157. Ara

    *privileges*

  158. LC

Beyonce has a very smooth skin, it has nothing to do about her being light

  159. They hate their blackness and they are darker than most.

    @jj

That’s a very profound statement there, I don’t know if you realized it. I’ve met quite a few “dark-skinned” folk who coincidentally choose white women/men (or light-skinned) as their partners…skin complex issues run deep my friend.

  160. Slide Like A Fresh Pair of Gators (Keepin' It Real - D'Original)

    @Bossip

3 out of the 4 people (*Boris Kodjoe, Halle Berry & Lauren London) that you used in the pic for this article are bi-racial and Mrs. Carter is Creole what are y’all trying to say?

HEY EVERYONE THERE IS A BOOK CALLED “THE COLOR COMPLEX” BY KATHY RUSSELL, I THINK EVERYONE SHOULD READ IT IF YOU CARE FOR READING AT ALL.

THIS BOOK TALKS ABOUT A LOT OF IMPORTANT FACTS ON US AFRICAN AMERICANS AND HOW WE CONSTANTLY THRASH ONE ANOTHER.

IM A DARK SKINNED MALE AND I LOVE AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMAN OF ALL SHADES, I CONSIDER AFRICAN AMERICANS, (PEOPLE OF AFICAN DESCENT FOR THAT MATTER) TO BE THE SEXIEST RACE IN THE WORLD.

BUT WE CONSTANTLY FOLLOW AND LIVE BY THE ***** LYNCH SYSTEM, IF HE WERE A LIVE TODAY HE WOULD LOOK AT US AND HIS COUNTER PARTS AND SAY ” I TOLD YOU IT WOULD WORK”.

THE FUNNY PART IS, HIS COUNTER PARTS “WHITE PEOPLE” ARE CONTINUING TO LIVE BY HIS EXAMPLE, AND LIKE IDIOTS WE ARE FULLFILLING A WHITE RACIST DREAMS.

***** LYNCH SAID THAT WE WOULD CONTINURE TO ATTACK EACH OTHER FOR THREE TO FOUR HUNDRED YEARS, AND WE ARE DOING JUST THAT.

ANYWAY I STRONGLY SUGGEST PEOPLE TO READ THE COLOR COMPLEX BY KATHY RUSSELL, PLEASE GO TO YOUR LOCAL BOOK STORE IF THERE IS ONE ARE GO TO A LIBRARY AND SEARCH FOR IT.

BLACK FOLKS WE ARE ALL BEAUTIFUL, LETS NOT DESTROY OUR IMAGE WITH HATRED TOWARD EACH OTHER.

MY LIGHT SKIN, MY DARK SKIN, MY WEAVE WEARING, SHORT, TALL, PLUMP, SKINNY, THICK, I LOVE ALL OF YOU IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN TOLD.

  162. sounds like WFT got some hater in his blood, well you’re right on one thing black people has never been the example of sexy,we have the been the very epitome of sexy, beauty, talent, and longevity for many many years.
I understand your hate, but get over it!

  163. *Treausre*

I’m still trying to figure out how Jada Pinkett Smith has the best hair when it is always weaved or in braids. Keyshia Cole has a nice hair texture when she wears it natural. Stacey Dash has nice hair. The actress Mya Cambell has gorgeous hair that is long and versatile that she can wear curly or straight. Kenya Moore has long thick tresses which is all hers. Jada’s hair was relaxed when she was on Different World. Her hair color is a dark brown shade and reaches her shoulders. There was nothing extraordinary about her hair at all. Who ever declared Jada has the best hair must be a little tipsy from last night. She has lovely eyes but so does Rhianna, eva pigford, and Vanessa williams.

  164. missuk

@re thats exactly what it is, its always the darkskin men that got issues.

  165. The names mentioned above are based on Bossip’s OPINIONS these are not necessary FACTS.

WHY this as SUDDENLY turned into a darkskin/lightskin DEBATE IS beyond me.

The only people INVERSLY affected by this TEDIOUS DEBATE are black Americans.

YOU have allowed yourselves to be BRAINWASHED and that is WHY its affecting your YOUTHS.

REGARDLESS of skin colour you will all be seen as DESCENDANTS of slaves and there are always going to be people OUTSIDE of the black american community who will see you JUST AS THAT.

So the best thing that you can do is STICK together and WORK with each OTHER and stop allowing yourselves to be DIVIDED along the line of COLOUR.

It’s a GOOD thing that you live in the U.S.A where you have a MIXTURE of other folks.

If not there might have been SOME kind of “ETHNIC CLEANSING” but this would be based on SKIN COLOUR.

  166. Besides what makes a person sexy or beautiful is not their skin tone, nor their physique, not there smile ,but it’s how you inner act with people of all back grounds, and how you treat them, because last impressions is the only thing they will remenber.

  167. missuk

BLACK PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY ARE LOST! IF YOU EVER WANNA INSULT AN AFRICAN AMERICAN ALL YOU GOTTA DI IS CALL THEM AN AFRICAN LOL THEY LOSE THEIR MIND.

THIS IS A *****IN RACISTE SITE

  169. @missuk

You know whats ironic about that? A lot of black women find that more and more attractive nowadays (I know I do)…little do they know just how beautiful their complexion is perceived to be amongst us black women…

  170. JJ

    @ Re

I know some dark skin people have resentment towards others because of the preference for light over dark. They are always ridiculed for being dark. I think that is when the animosity sets in.

I have a sister who was the only one in the family who was dark besides my father. Me and my other sister are a tan complexion and the other sister is dark like my dad. She was a cute girl but she was ridiculed for being dark and she has a lot of bitterness when she sees article such as this. I guess I don’t blame her. It is making a quiet statement that dark skin is unattractive and for that I am truly sorry for her. I just avoid the topic because I know it upsets her. She did however marry a dark skin man. I am glad that she is not engaging in self hatred like Wesley Snipes and Taye Diggs.

  171. Amazing Man

Why is it such a surprise to everyone that people with more euro features (light skin, thinner nose & lips, long hair, etc) are always considered the prime example of beauty in the western world? The majority culture is euro and as a result it has always been allowed to set the beauty standards . Even if you are Black, you have still been subjected to these euro images (tv, etc.) as the staple of beauty and sadly enough, after a while it became just part of our thinking too.

Halle has white features and Serena has African features. Which one do you think people will consider beautiful? Unless you are in denial, the answer is Halle. I do not like this truth, but it is the truth so I deal with it.

BTW, Regina King has the most sexiest eyes to me

  172. missuk

@re i know its so crazy i love dark men and i think my dark sister is beautiful i love to get darker in the sun. now my sister hates lighter skinned women and i feel like she has begun to resent me for being lighter.
when i say to her shes so pretty she says so why dont men like me here, she says i have no understanding cause im lighter and maybe i dont

I hate the term African American. I have never been to Africa and I have no known relatives that ever resided there. Looking back at my family history even in the early 1900’s no one resided in Africa. I don’t like to identify with a continent which I have no upbringing or genetic ties to.

If your are mixed with black and white they label you african american. If your are spanish and black you are labled an african american. If you are korean and black they label you african american. They started labeling us Africans in the 1990’s and we were froced to adapt to this term. I don’t like it and I refuse to use towards myself or others. Especially when I don’t know what their ethnic background entails.

Agreed! However, the problem is that the same white blood which gives a black person lighter skin also comes with euro/white features.

Its not the actual skin color that is the determining factor, it is the features that come along with the injection of white/euro blood in the person.

I agree with you somewhat but lighter skin and “european” feature aren’t from white blood. There were and are parts of Africa where Africans are just light skinned, have slimmer and sleeker noses, and smaller lips before the slave trade even began.

I did not chose to adapt this term for myself. I know what my racial background consists of, I am not confused. I have nothing against African people but I do not identify with their customs, the spiritual beliefs, their values, or their lanuage. It certainly is not self hatred on my part. I like who I am. 196. @missuk

SORRY to read about your sister’s experience.

There are OTHER black men out there that do not have HANGUPS about skintones but are more interested in beautiful and intelligent black women.

Some people STILL have DIFFICULTY accepting that their ANCESTORS were AFRICAN slaves that may be why they are more willing to EMBRACE an EUROPEAN heritage.

  199. missuk

another damn confused american if you have any other ethnicities in your blood it is probably from rape as white slave owners raped black women on a regular basis did you know that? im light and i know that my lightness more than likly came from some rapist slave owner, i under no cir*****stances want to embrace this person over my black ancesters. people like you make me sick you stupid idiot you are called african american because your ancesters brought here were from africa they were not here your ancestry line comes from africa dumb*****. just like native americans because they are natives, asian americans and so forth.

I getcha. But who is to say these lighter skinned people weren’t inside the house during the first sweep from Africa to the U.S. or genetically a light skinned African American isn’t light skinned from one of those lighter skinned Africans.

I know there is slave rape, don’t get me wrong. I just wanted to clear up those misconceptions about every european feature is from slave rape or my race is pure black when alot slave rape took place.

  203. missuk

most people of lighter skin myself included are light because some white european slave master would rape his black AFRICAN slaves and have kids with them. should i embrace this rapists heritage over my african? these ppl even sold their own children

  209. *Treasure*

    @ The third Eye

The last time I checked American was the land of the freedom and opportunity. Everyone has the free will to adapt their own customs and spirtual beleifs, valuues and ideas. This is not the case for Africa. African people have their own customs according to their homeland. Black people have been labeled colored, Negroe and now Africans. I don’t like any of these terms. It is up to the individual and their ethnic background. If your are black and mixed with say Asian should they just adapt the term African? No that would be foolish. I just refuse to let others dictate to me what I should call myself when I know what my racial and ethnic background consists of. If others get offended oh well that is there problem not mine.

  210. missuk

@TREASURE HMMMM I WONDER IF THE SLAVES OR BLACK PEOPLE DURING SEGREGATION SAW THIS AS THE LAND OF FREEDOM AND OPPORTUNITY? ME THINKS NOT!!!

  211. IT cannot be EASY living in a country where people LOOK DOWN on you because you have ANCESTORS that were African slaves.

I can’t stand when people try to impede on others free will to make choices for themselves and invoke their ideas and views for everyone. That speaks volumes aabout your intellect not mine.

  227. missuk

@ treasure wow it took you that long to think up that little gem lol who you got helping you girl lol
cause i know your non ethnic self didnt think that up alone lol

  228. tash

u c miss UK , we r blk supremist not all blks are as such…Uc some in usa want to call out all the mixes in them rather than just say blk as i think they think it makes them seem more exotic when i was there and a man tells me oh am quarter this that i just yawn in my head . Look u look blk to me you are blk. i guess a lot of AA’s arent from direct countries etc so feel the need to point this out. But shoot i hear u some dont have logic of what u are tryin to explain why would they wanna embrase other mixes if they arent mixed race blk n wht. Shoot am dark my grandmother mixed do u think am every gonna say that to anyone hell no u look like a darn fool ..u trying to promtoe yr dominiant genes present not the latter same as wht folks do that have blk in them they sure as hell wont tell u. Its a shame yr sis feels like this at least yr supportive not a belittling sister in time she’ll be just fine.

  229. *Treasure*

    @ Missuk

Don’t address me. I refuse to engage in child like behavior such as yours. You say you like to speak your mind, but i see that there is absolutely no substance to your character and you are just a side show. Move on. It is so juvenile.

  230. Its Everyones PEROGATIVE to call themselves whatever they WANT.

AT the end of the day this will have no IMPACT ON THE WAY THAT others SEE you.

  231. tash

@bb yeap thats a point very true
as for treasure you dont get the message of ms uk so sweet dreams

  232. The Third Eye

    @ Treasure

You didn’t have to state it. I can read, comprehend, and *****yze word usage. You have that freedom not use the term or identify with it. You have no idea the genetic pool I’m from just as I don’t know for sure what pool you’re from. I’m not bothered by you.

I’m just pointing out how you’re logic and reasoning isn’t linear. You’ve contradicted yourself many times in your conversations with me and others on this post which speaks volumes about your intellect .I’m not imposing anything on you. I’m just pointing out your faulty reasoning. I’m all for new ideas, different ideas, etc. We can just agree to disagree, and that’s okay because in this great country (U.S.A) we’re allowed to do that.

  233. I believe that scientifically there are human physical qualities than are inherently more appealing in order to produce healthy and dominant offspring to give them an edge in survival in the world. However, what we define as beauty is subjective as in other cultures, what we may not find attractive is the opposite to other people. What disturbs me about this thread is that when we are looking at beautiful people many of these individuals featured have white features. Of course as African Americans, it is not fair to *****ume that it must mean that each black person has to be pure African as American history is intrinsically linked between black and white. However, I think we need to deprogram our minds from focusing on beauty based on what is defined as beautiful in the mainstream media. I mean, look at the Miss France finalists – they are all biracial but in the eyes of many, they are black and considered by some to be the “good” looking ones yet they don’t define the majority of true African descent.

    My 2 cents.

  234. tash

to everyone what i find attractive is making the best out of what yr born with, beautiful skin means takin care of it regardless of complexion. keeping radiant n fresh mind body n soul yes days u hear things that may knock u back tenfolds everyone does but the next dont dwell on it, you move on do things that make u happy clear out negative thoughts. And do not live by jewish hollywood standards treat those around u with fragile care

  235. GLOk9n...... i love s*cking d*cks!!!

  238. *Treasure*

    @ BB

    I agree with your statment.

    @ Tash

I did not say anything about the term black. I was speaking about calling all black people in the USA African Americans when you don’t know what their ethnic bakground entails. A biracial person who looks black could have a parent or grandparents who is Asian, cuban, Irish descent, or Native American. Why should they solely adapt the term African American? It is their choice to identify with whatever they choose.

  239. Dre

I wouldn’t waste my time talking to Treasure. Treasure has some loose screws when it comes to identity.I’d say a psychologist is in need.

  246. tash

yeap ok in that case as bb said peps will still view u how they want pls visit a lot of white supremist sites n you’ll know how they view those mixes lol…nway yeap i guess a lot of AA’s do not know what direct countries they are from so feel no connection but they should’nt be ignorant enough to haven’t visited a place but yet think like white extremist n think the whole continent is full of mud huts.
But shes point out u are of african decent but i guess if uve been in a society that has brainwashed u since u were born to think blk / african is wrong u will not want that connection

Nway moral of the story is & ms uk just wants u to know i guess if i sum it up rght is be proud of yrself embrace yr dominant self?????

  251. *Treasure*

    @ Third Eye

You are conflicted in your own mind. I tried to explain as best as possible. The contradictory statments that you think evolved in my posts are conjured up to suit your own ideas about how people should view themselves. If you don’t understand my views then I don’t know what else to say but have a great day.

I don’t care what you dark butts think. Light-Skinned cuties will alway trump dark-skinned jiggaboos 99.9% of the time…Unless that dark-skin is wrapped around Jada Fire. Oh! Whoever said that Naomi Cambell is sexy and beautiful, is full of ***** and is just being politically correct. I’ve seen that ***** without makeup and her weave – That hoe is ugly, and the same goes for Kelly Rowland (sans the makeup and weave) too.

  258. missuk

Nope, you have identity issues. Simple as day. I’m African American, Aboriginal, Jamaican, Cherokee, Scottish, and Irish. But you know what at the end of the day. I’m African American. How dumb would it be for me to walk around saying I’m American or I’m Irish.

  261. missuk

I don’t need to seek therapy in order for someone to explain to me what my racial background entails. The only one who is missing a link or two is yourself. Your statements lack rationale, reasoning, logic and are just close minded. This is a blog. people have the freedom to express whatever ideas they like. I see tons of garbage strewn about on this site. I don’t attack them for their views even when they are ridiculous. I move on. I don’t waste time belittling them and devaluing them as a person to make it appear as if my word is truth. Everyone is entitled to their opinion if you don’t like it move on. I stopped reading the garbage of missuk an hour ago.

  264. missuk

Beyonce would still look more *****able than Kelly with full makeup and weave, and we won’t have to mention that ugly ***** Naomi Cambell. I don’t get that *****’s allure at all – Affirmative Action in the modeling world must be a mother *****er.

  271. missuk

@treasure yes this is a blog but you want everyone to accept your views however deluded they are but you cant accept others so in the words of bossip staffers “HO SIT DOWN”

  272. The Third Eye

    @ Treasure

Maybe you can’t read but in our last conversations I said I’m open to new and different ideas. We can agree to disagree. And yes, you do need to seek some professional mental help about your identity crisis. I’m trying to help you out lol.

    ——————————————————————————————————

That is your business. No concern to me. What you chose to identify with is your free will. What is dumb is you invoking your views, ideas and theories on others and belittling them for not being in compliance with your ideas. It is ignorant.

There is a way to disagree with someone without insulting them for not agreeing with your views. It is called diplomacy and tact. I would refer you to a physcologist to speak with them about your achieving those positive attributes but they can not help you with that. It comes from within. Deuces

    Wow. . .

*stepping gingerly around chaos in this thread*

    @reese615

“You and I both know that if you want to change something, you don’t start at a macro level (overhauling public sentiment), you start at the micro level; on an individual basis. So, I suppose I’m saying that no matter how we slice it up, ultimately, the burden is going to end up on the individual. I’m kind of all over the place, so please let me know if that made sense.”

No, your statement makes perfect sense, and I agree that the power to build one’s self esteem lies with individuals, but I also believe that education of the macro-level issue is key as well. The more we know about the roots of colorism and its impact, the better equipped we are to address it, IMHO.

On the micro level, I have darker-complexioned friends whose parents instilled in them a very strong sense of self and so when they are subject to denigration, etc., they are able to leave those words unabsorbed. They know they are beautiful and no amount of ignorance will change that reality. But there are other girls/women who may not have the same level of inner strength and awareness and are could endure greater emotional repercussions from color-based divisions. If you lack a base of self-worth, you are vulnerable to the thoughts and judgments of others.

But, ultimately, I do understand your perception. No amount of education or awareness will change the mindset of certain people — such as the person who has internalized a sense of inferiority and believes that “black” features are somehow undesirable.

I am very interested in hearing more about your sisters’ experiences, and you mentioned that skin tone may have played a part in your sister’s marriage.

  373. Sydney™

*But, ultimately, I do understand your standpoint*

  389. stop it

There is a science behind “beauty” a certain number/ratio of measurements of facial features that make a person more appealing to the general public no matter what race. Depending on how high or low your measurements fall on the scale between 1-10 (10 being the highest)The numbers reflect basic, carnal genetic qualities that show health and strength. There have been numerous studies all over the world, even in places where the media has yet to infiltrate(nekkid monkey-eaters too)and they ALL FIND THE SAME FEATURES/QUALITIES MORE APPEALING. NO MATTER WHAT RACE OR WHAT THEY HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO. The people on this list reflect that. THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT IF YOU DON’T LOOK LIKE SOMEBODY ON THIS LIST, YOU ARE NOT ATTRACTIVE, THERE ARE TONS OF OTHER FACTORS THAT PLAY IN AND AT THE END OF THE DAY, IT ALL BOILS DOWN TO PERSONAL PREFERENCE. I AM SOOO SICK OF DARK SKINNED/OVERWEIGHT PEOPLE ON THIS AND ALL THE OTHER “BLACK” BOARDS ATTACKING LIGHT SKINNED/IN SHAPE PEOPLE! dARK SKINNED PEOPLE ARE NOT BETTER OR ANY MORE BEAUTIFUL THEN LIGHTSKINNED FOLK AND VICE VERSA. THERE ARE SOME CUTE PEOPLE AND SOME NOT-SO-CUTE PEOPLE AND THEY ALL COME IN DIFFERENT SHAPES/TONES AND ITS ALL DEPENDENT ON YOUR PREFERENCE.

jUST BECAUSE SOME ONE IS BLACK AND LIKES LIGHTER SKINNED FOLK DOESN’T MEAN THEY ARE BRAINWASHED IT MAY BE IN SOME CASES BUT SOME PEOPLE JUST LIKE WHAT THEY LIKE. IS A WHITE PERSON WHO LIKES DARK PEOPLE BRAINWASHED BY THE MEDIA TOO? HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE WITH THE SAME MEDIA?

LOVE YOURSELF AND WHOEVER ELSE IT IS THAT YOU LOVE AND LET OTHERS DO THE SAME. REAL SELF ESTEEM IS EMBRACING YOUR OWN PERSONAL VALUE AND REALIZING THAT IT JUST “IS” NO MATTER WHAT PACKAGE YOU ARE WRAPPED IN. YOU DON’T HAVE TO SEE YOUR FACE OR ONE SIMALAR TO IT ON A MAGAZINE TO BE VALIDATED BECAUSE YOUR VALUE “IS”

****YOU ALSO DON’T HAVE TO TEAR DOWN EVERY LIGHT SKINNED PERSON THAT POPS UP ON BOSSIP AND CONSTANTLY RUN DOWN A LIST OF “BETTER LOOKING” DARK FOLK TO COMPARE THEM TO EVEN IN POST WHEWRE *****ODY IS REALLY TALKING ABOUT THAT.**

THIS POST DID NOT HAVE TO DIGRESS INTO THIS SAD DISPLAY OF INSECURITIES. iT JUST SO HAPPENS THERE ARE NOT A GREAT DEAL OF DARK SKINNED FOLK IN HOLLYWOOD TO CHOOSE FROM BECAUSE THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH DARK SKINNED FOLKS BEHIND THE SCENES TO MAKE THOSE CHANGES. eNCOURAGE YOUR SON OR DAUGHTER TO BE A WRITER OR A CASTING AGENT INSTEAD OF A DOCTOR, LAWYER, NURSE, HAIRDRESSER, OF ATHELETE.

    Best face:stacy dash (eyes,lips,nose,smile).

  417. Putting together a so-called beauty list would not be so difficult. Most who are considered a candidate will possess a similar look amongst themselves…usually, for the women anyway.

The goal would be to acheive an acceptable european look that those in the U.S. would deem acceptable as well, especially for those who are not of color. Being african-american is fine as long as you haven’t developed the african-american characteristics – skin tone that is anything from a pale white to light to medium brown, facial features that mock anything but afrocentric features, and weight that would still allow the woman to look thin, despite the extra pounds a camera adds, for television.

Those in the industry know very well what this american society is anxious to applaud in the realm of beauty and many are willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish just that – by way of plastic surgery, skin lighteners/bleachers, extreme diets or fads, etc…thus, most appearing very similar to their counterparts, in having successfully attained the “cookie cutter” look.

  418. Rocky

Apparently mixed heritage is the recepie for perfection! I see *****ody dark skinned made the cut. The black community needs to get over this Plantation Mentality and find itself an all inclusive standard of beauty. This ***** is ridiculous in the 21st century!

  419. Shanelle

Most intriguing eyes female: Eva Pigford
Most luscious lips male: LL Cool J
    Eat off abs female: Beyonce

  420. A Natalie Fan

What’s your problem? Natalie Desselle is a beautiful and sexy lady. And she has the most gorgeous smile in entertainment.
