Doctors don’t like for you to take matters into your own hands. They get money from pharmacy reps to push their meds, so when patients stop taking them, they don’t get paid! Point blank.

I agree that Halle is a bit crazy but this is not the first time I heard of someone getting better from something serious without taking medicine….sometimes it’s the medicine that keeps you sick with its many side effects. Donno how true it is for Halle cause I heard the same thing if you don’t take that insulin.

It has been proven that a change in diet and exercise can help curb the symptoms and the seriousness of a lot of illness, but the drug companies don’t want you to know this!

I think the point the doctor is making is she did not have type 1 but another type of diabetes if she did indeed get better. You cannot HEAL yourself from type 1, which requires insulin.

And considering this fool at diabetes for like 15 years, what the hell is she talking about? A healthy diet of what?

Type 2 diabetes can be controlled with the right diet, but Type I is different. Type I is caused by an auto-immune attack against cells that produce insulin (I’m not gonna go into too much detail). Those cells will eventually be wiped out. Therefore, insulin supplementation is vital.

I agree with the doctors on this one. Type I is nothing to play with.

This is not the first time i have heard of people getting rid of type one with a change of diet and exercise. My aunt is one of those people but prayer played a major roll as well (Thank Ya!!) There are plenty of books and things that people can read about different organic foods that can help them. The information is out there…you just have to want it for yourself. The doctors never want to give credit if there is a cure for anything. That means there will be money coming out of their pockets…think about it.

@Ms. Quita, people CAN cure TYPE 2 with diet and exercise, even if they were using insulin. Your aunt had Type 2. That is a totally different disease process. Good for her though. Type 2 is usually caused by being obese or too fat so loosing weight and eating right CAN cure it. That’s why Black people have so much of it, and we should focus more on diet and exercise so we can prevent it.

You are right dammit! Type 1 don’t have the ability to produce insulin so they must get it externally (shots). Type 2s insulin production either slowed down or stopped and is often related to obesity and related factors. Your pancreas can’t be “switched on” with Type 1. In fact, sadly there are kids diagnosed with Type 1 that don’t even make it to Halle’s age even WITH insulin. You know what they say – you either got the beauty or the brains…

Unfortunatley what she is saying could be dangerous to kids who look up to her.

I PERSONALLY know people who have CURED both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes BY THEMSELVES. Despite what the medical establishment says, diabetes IS curable, as I’ve seen it happened befor SEVERAL times. Why would doctors be on her side when they rely on sickness and diseases to survive?

Here are what of some of the procedures taken by former diabetics I know personally:

- Excercise – which needs to result in weight loss

- Plant based diet – less meat – less starch, especially WHITE, refined food – more seafood and olive oil.

- Chromium – an essential mineral – diabetics tend to be deficient in.

- Fiber – specifically glucomannan – which also works VERY WELL for obesity and high cholesterol – and has been proven to lower blood sugar.

- Antioxidants like alpha lipoic acid – which helps the body fight free radicals and prevent other complications related to diabetes.

There’s more, but I ain’t gonna type all of it.

But I know for a fact a man from my aunt’s church CURED himself, and several other folks I know. He also lost 60 pounds. Although he was overweight, many people who have diabetes are NOT overweight, but are still deficient in some sort of essential vitamin or mineral. In addition, people make it seem as if just because a person is not overweight doesn’t mean they’re not healthy – which is a very dangerous mindset if you ask me. Some people gain more weight than others, but that doesn’t mean they’re less healthy – regardless of what appears on the outside.

I don’t care how many supplements or vitamins you take, it won’t cure Type 1 diabetes. Type I involves actual structural damage that can’t be rejuvenated.

I totally disagree. While I do think that drug companies are ripping a lot people off financially, there isn’t a scheme to keep people sick or dependent.

I do agree that if people did take more control of their health through diet and exercise, doctor visits would go down. The problem is, so many people don’t care.

Don’t discount the benefits and effectiveness of physicians and prescription drugs. Just look at the progress towards treatment of familial/inherited diseases. If more people correctly followed the doctors’ orders, the world would be a lot healthier. Then again if doctors were more inviting and respectful of their patients, they would trust them and follow their advice. I plan to do that with my patients.

I am type 1…and it is no way she can stop taking her insulin. If she really is Type 1 then she probably changed her diet so she doesn’t have to take as much insulin as she may have before. Being pregnant and Diabetic is serious…my 2 pregnancies drove my family crazy….I was always in the hospital for low blood sugars.

I have seen many eliminate this illness from their bodies. good books to read on these subjects are Afrikan Holistic Health and Nutricide by Llaila Afrika. a word of caution Dr Afrika does not coddle folks and will tell the truth!! not many can handle the truth and have branded him a hate monger or radical he’s neither but like myself are sounding the alarm about the typical American diet are killing folks left and right.

Structural damage CAN be repaired. And as I’ve said, I know people who cured their diabetes.

On top of that, the drug industry as well as the food industry work to keep people dependent. Drugs don’t heal, as the body doesn’t recognize foreign substances. Instead, they supress, which result in even worse side effects.

Maybe people are confused because they think if you are taking insulin, you must be type 1, but type 2 diabetics take insulin as well.

But nahnah is right about Black people needing to eat healthier, eliminate all the sugar, focus on fresh vegetables, and exercise. That can cure all types of heart disease, diabetes, and prevent cancer.

The ‘voodoo’ supplements are derived from whole foods, so how could they be ‘cheating’ us? A bottle of red yeast rice (which literally lowered my cholesterol) is only 15 bucks for a 90 day supply.

My dad was a type 1 and he did in fact cure himself. it took a few years, but he got it right. at first, he got bumped down to only taking glucotrol pills, but it has been 3 years and now his glucose has been very good.

There are all types of natural cures out there. Diabetes has been cured form adjusting levels of insulin (sugar) in the blood. If children and grown ups develop diabetes form unhealthy eating habits then it is possible to reduce or even eliminate the disease by eating healthy and exercising. Good Doctors will tell you this. However, many doctors and pharm. companies want to keep you sick so they sell more drugs. The drugs can sometimes be more harmful to your body than the cure.

Do people not realize that some people are MISDIAGNOSED as being Type 1 diabetes? You know, those people that “cured themselves” probably weren’t true type 1s. They may have developed diabetes later on in life, and establish a healthier diet to reverse.

MOST PEOPLE can not just cure themselves. And while I recognize the body takes care of itself. I also recognize the importance of hospitals, and medicine when you have pneumonia. You can’t heal yourself from everything. Like, cancer is not just healed from a better diet.

We all know that exercise and diet are CRUCIAL to living healthy lives, but to suggest that a BABY(and that’s when people with Type I get diagnosed) with type 1 diabetes just needs to take some supplements and exercise is ridiculous and irresponsible. I have a feeling the two of you are basing your opinions on hearsay, and not facts and research.

And no one said anything about disliking medicine and hospitals. Doctors and hospitals exist for a reason. They are important in every society. But senseless surgeries for the hell of it is a way to make money, and so is prescribing chemical drugs to just about any and every ailment.

Many illnesses can be traced back to nutrition. A deficiency of many nutrients can cause the body to not work properly, and ultimately cause diseases. So in order to get your body back on track, you must go BACK to nutrition, and not chemicals.

I had a neighbor – a Domican girl – who suffered from diabetes since she was a young child. She went throug hell with the disease; missing school and staying in hospitals for days. Her father finally decided to try a holistic doctor…

The doctor put her on a strict semi-vegetarian diet with an excercise plan and provided her with several herbs and supplements.

One of the main supplements given to her was BITTER MELON. Bitter Melon is a NATURAL plant insulin, which has worked wonders for many people. (There are tons of research done on bitter melon, stop being lazy and look it up…)

- Calcium helps with formation and consistency of bones.

- Vitamin D helps with bones.

- B vitamins help with energy, brain health, skin health, and just about everything else.

_Magnesium is needed for proper muscle function.

_Vitamin A is needed for proper eye function.

_Vitamin C is an antioxidant that help boost the immune system in order to fight free radicals and foreign invaders that can lead to cancer.

Supplements are different from drugs because they’re naturally derived from wholefoods, as opposed to chemicals.

I can only challenge those with diabetes to change their diets and see if after a few years they still need the insulin. That doesn’t mean they should just stop taking it. Test as usual and see if whole food multivitamins and the removal of the wrong foods doesn’t lower and eventually cure your diabetes.
