Why Bossip Will Support Barack Obama in 08′

Our editorial staff believes Barack Obama is the candidate to co-sign and support in the presidential election in 08′. Obama is a leader of change and is the most authentic and viable candidate in the race. We are urging people, specifically our people, to get behind Barack Obama and dump support for Hillary Clinton, who doesn’t represent the best interest of our people and Americans in general.
America is supposedly a democracy but the Bush and Clinton families have been in power for over two decades, beginning with George Bush’s father. We are fatigued with the leadership of the Bushs and Clintons and it’s time for a change in direction. Hillary Clinton voted for the Iraq war with Bush which cost hundreds of thousands of innocent lives. Experience has no value if you fail to make the right decision at the right time. Barack made the right decision and took the right position when it was unpopular and not viewed as the patriotic thing to do. This is an important characteristic of a true leader.
It is a mistake for some of our people to have the view that Barack Obama won’t be elected because he is Black. Why set artificial limits on what someone can do? What do we have to lose if we test this out? Barack Obama has the courage to run in the face of racial threats on his life. Colin Powell was scared.
We don’t support Obama because white folks are crazy about him. We support him because he is the best candidate that represents our interests, understands the plight of poor people, and brings fresh ideas to the table.
Failed leadership such as Jesse Jackson, Andrew Young, and Al Sharpton represents business as usual. These corrupt leaders don’t support Barack Obama full blast because of what he represents: change and a different pedigree of leadership. Hillary Clinton is the typical democratic politician who visits the hood and churches around campaign time to exploit the Black vote. With Barack, you know he is sincere. Obama passed on employment at major law firms to work on community issues in the streets of Chicago. This was an early example of Obama’s character.
Getting behind Obama early in 08′ would be a statement for change, even if change starts with symbolism.

Just because your black does not mean you have to be a Democrat. That idea dates back to Jim Crow and the Civil Rights era. Yes, you don’t have to be necessarily smart to make sound decisions but has Obama proved that he is capable of bring change-where’s the proof? If Obama and Hillary were running for Senate, she would kick his a** by far because she’s the better legislator with tenure. If obama chose to focus his first term on getting experience and showing us what he’s made of, instead of running for president for a few terms; and not running on capital based on being a celebrity.I would be more than happy to support someone who gets things done for the better and is fully respected. I think he’s a great guy, I’ve seen him speak twice in front of both black people and then white people.We need more people like him in office that people can relate to. Sorry, but I don’t think the Democrats (or most Republicans) represent our interests. I think Obama is intelligent, and sincere, but the Democratic agenda (of which he is a part) is harmful to African-Amereicans and just serves to keep us victims and dependent on the welfare state (and I don’t necessarily mean getting a welfare check, but depending on the government to solve all our problems).

If Black people are poor, the democratic solution is to give us more welfare (and at the same time, separate black families since you can’t have a man in the house and get welfare. Ironic, isn’t it?). Their policies create a dependency that has not helped the Black community. Thank you for the response but my point was Obama wasn’t in office in 2002 for the Iraq resolution and I believe that Bossip misrepresented that by stating “Barack made the right decision when it was unpopular and unpatriotic”-I thought was misleading.
Although, I do think Obama could be very liberal and wouldn’t have supported the war but I’m skeptical because I don’t entirely believe that Obama wouldn’t be calculating or if given the chance to vote for the war…I think he would have voted for it like everyone else, and you know the important thing to remember is this was Bush’s war

As it stands, it’s like crack, and people can’t get off that *****! It doesn’t address the BEHAVIORS that make someone more vulnerable to being on welfare. But there should definitely be limits, and probably no increases in payments for more children conceived while on welfare.

I work in several public housing units (projects) as a mental health counselor and many single mothers are proud of the fact that each year their tax returns increase because they have had another child during the year. I had one mother boast to me that she received almost $12,000 in tax return b/c she had five kids. What is sad is she put rims on her car and got a new ghetto paint job for the car. THe system is obviously messed up

I live in VA and here we have tax credits per child. They are intended to buy school clothes, help pay for school supplies, and other needed personal items. The problem is mother’s who grew up poor are willing to bring another baby into a life of poverty to increase their tax return. The cycle is hard to break, but if we don’t come up with a solution the system will only get worse.

I have trouble trusting any of the political parties that hold a monopoly on this country. Many don’t know that the democrats and republicans started from the same party and only split right before the civil war. They were the Democratic-Republicans and split over the issues of money and slavery.
And the traditional republican social stance was actually more comparable to the modern day democrats and the traditional dems were the rich southern plantation owners and sympathizers. This only began to change in the first half of the 1900’s…as recently as the 1950’s. FDR was the first real “new” democrat which “embraced” immigrants, blacks and the agendas of women.
I remember when I registered to vote as soon as I turned 18 that I was torn between registering as an Independent, a Democratic Socialist, a Communist or Democrat. I learned that only one of those influenced the primaries and in turn would have a greater say in the overall elections so I opted for the lesser of the 2 big evils.
Remember the last election between Kerry and Bush…Equally rich cousins who were both a part of Yale’s Skull and Bones society. Honestly, anyone who thought Kerry would bring change or anything much different from the past US Presidents had to be smoking that good Ooooh Weee…
But again it was a vote of the lesser of 2 evils. Clinton was a breath of fresh air because unlike most of the last 40 US presidents he came from a seemingly modest background. Obama would be great because he has yet to be completely poisoned by the “experience” of being a seasoned US politician. He is new in the fold which means he is not in the pocket of MANY (i bet there are at least a few) lobbyists and BIG COMPANIES. George Bush had no political experience except for his father was President and he was an, AT BEST, decent Governor. We all see the job he did. So those throwing the experience card around need to look at that example. Obama would not be like Bush because he was not bred to give in to companies and to be kept in pocket as all of Bush’s policies have shown he is.
Ok, I’m sorry I can go on this all day. The bottom lines. Just cuz it’s Democrat doesn’t mean it’s ok. I am pro Obama for many reason and I am completely enthralled with the man as well. Remember that when it comes to politics, it always boils down to what is the lesser of the evils.

Well I think we are giving Hilary a bad shake here. First of all she voted for the Iraq war on false pretenses along with the majority of the senate. Remember, Bush spoke to a joint session of congress at the state of the union and professed the lie to the American people and the world that Iraq obtained some uranium from an African country to make weapons of m***** destruction. Which was an out right lie and an impeachable offense in my book! And Your boy Colin Powell was dispatched to carry and continue to tell that lie to the free world! I have been voting since I was a teenager. I voted in every election and I find it truly disgusting that BUSH was able to take too elections and have yet to be impeached. My understanding of politics apply to the whole of the candidate.

Hillary,Edwards,Biden,and Dodd all voted for the Iraq war without even bothering to walk downstairs and read the cl*****ified intelligence report that caused the senators that did read it to change their minds and vote against the war.. That report indicated that most of the intel services did not think Saddam had weapons of m***** destruction or was an imminent threat to the United States. Hillary and Edwards voted for the war because it was polling well and they wanted to run for president. I’ll preface this by saying that I’m not one for tossing any politicians salad like this. I worked with my state’s senator and I *****ure you that their public image and who they truly are are very different. If you made it to this level in politics, you’ve done your share of shady ish so the sainthood granted to Obama, Edwards and Ron Paul is absurd to me.
If you’re going to support him based on issue positions and solid plans, that’s one thing. Hillary voted for the war. And? How many people contested to the war at the beginning with the information we were given? Like maybe 20 to 30% of Americans. If you want to use your website as a source for intelligent voting, put their issue stances and plans up for comparison. Clinton and Obama have pretty much identical issue positions but different ways of executing their plans just like Romney and Giuliani have similar views (though Romney has changed to get the Christian Conservatives to vote for him) on everything really except immigration which is big.
In the last 47 years when people have voted based on image instead of positions or actions, we’ve been worse off. JFK first of all was not a good president. He had this glorious image plus he was competing against Nixon’s crooked, ugly ***** which probably helped. The good that came out of it was LBJ who doesn’t get the credit he deserves, especially for his decisions during the civil rights movement that JFK was unwilling to make. People didn’t give a ***** that Reagan was going senile. All they knew is that he had that old movie star charm and created this super alliance with the UK since he (+ Bush) and Thatcher had very similar views. I sincerely blame him for the injustices that people with AIDS suffered and for not providing much needed funds for treatment, research and education. How many people would be alive today if he didn’t bury his head in the sand? Then 2000. “Gore is so boring. Bush seems cool. I’d chill with him.” See where that got us? Hmmph. This isn’t even specific to Obama. It’s actually more fitting for Romney and even Edwards. Don’t buy the bull***** you see. Go read on what each of these people stand for (ALL, not just dems or the front runners) and make your decision based on that.
As for black republicans, I don’t take issue with them solely because they are republicans. I have some views that fit the Democrats more and some that fit the Republicans more. Are all these things that fit what we’ve been told is good for black people (but generally has failed)? No. Democrats have a paternalistic attitude towards minorities and even women to some extent. Republicans just seem to not give a ***** at all and at times act with reckless disregard for their non-white, non-Protestant, non-heterosexual countrymen. White, black, man, woman, Protestant, Catholic, Mormon, Democrat, Republican. Doesn’t matter. Don’t expect any of these people to do ***** for you. Instead of focusing on presidential elections alone, look at your local and state elections. That is probably what’s going to impact your day to day life, violence, crime, education, etc. Some states (Cali, Conn, etc.) up and dropped No Child Left Behind as well as abstinence-only sex education and it’s been amazing for them. M*****achusetts and now California are doing mandatory health insurance. People didn’t hold their breaths for national policy to change. It happened on a state level and it happened because voters took a strong interest in it.
Oh, and they ALL have skeletons in their closets. The reason why we know the Clintons’ is because of Bill’s presidency and all that ish dropped in 1992 as the elections got closer and closer. They didn’t get to where they are by kissing babies and shaking hands. McCain ran and was a front runner in 2000 so we know about some of his ish. Giuliani has a load of drama and he’s the one who put his business out there by the way he handled his divorce and ran the city. What else don’t we know?

Hillary Clinton while in Arkansas fought p*****ionately and suppported civil rights while she was an attorney and the first lady in Arkansas. Well my take is that some Black people don’t realize that there are two systems in this country one is the government and the other is the capitalist system in which we all benefit from. As Black people we are gonna have to stop wanting the politicians come save us from poverty. There are 40 million Black people in this country and how many mega manufactories do we own? Canada has about 40 million people and they are G8 nation with over thousands of factories and financial institutions. I must admit I was a Hillary supporting until I read this post. But I was on the fence and now I think I’ve fallen over to the Obama side. Thanks Bossip!
