Boo-Hoo for Tavis

Tavis Smiley

Tavis finally “sat down”:

“Well, you did it. This isn’t the way you wanted it to happen, but it happened anyway. Just like I knew it would,” begins an open letter from veteran radio personality Tom Joyner to Tavis Smiley.

It’s the latest in ongoing drama that followed Joyner’s announcement Friday that Smiley will end his twice-a-week commentaries on the syndicated morning show.

When the news broke, folks speculated that he couldn’t handle the backlash he’s been getting from blacks over his criticism of Barack Obama. Although Smiley released a statement saying he was leaving to focus on future projects under his company, The Smiley Group, Inc., Joyner isn’t buying it.

‘We all know that isn’t the real reason he’s leaving the show,’ Joyner writes in the open letter, ‘The real reason is that he can’t take the hate he’s been getting regarding the Barack issue — hate from the black people that he loves so much. He needed to feel the love. We all do, whether it’s from our radio audience or from people we know personally. He wasn’t feeling any love, so he quit.’ Continue »

Colin Gives Props to Obama

Barack & Colin

Colin gives a shout out to our guy Obama:

Colin Powell says he’s considering all three candidates, ‘I have not decided who I will vote for yet.’ Powell said some of the things said over the years by Rev. Jeremiah Wright are ‘deplorable, and he praised the way Barack Obama has handled the controversy over the senator’s former pastor. ‘I think that Sen. Obama handled the issue well,’ Powell said. ‘He didn’t look the other way. He didn’t wait for the, for the, you know, for the storm to go over. He went on television, and I thought, gave a very, very thoughtful, direct speech. And he didn’t abandon the minister who brought him closer to his faith.’”

Everyone knows Barack’s got heart. Colin needs to stop perpetratin’ and just endorse Obama. Whether he goes public with it or not, we can guess which way Powell will vote.

Thandie to Play Condi

Thandie Newton may put her career on the line as she is in the final negotiations to star as that no good, sell out, sociopathic heffah Condoleeza Rice in the Oliver Stone biopic on George W. Bush.

Here they go again, trying to rewrite history – but as long as there’s no unholy swirly action between dumba*s Dubya and Cu*ti in the film, we’ll be cool.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated 40 years ago today. He is being remembered not only as a historical figure but a dynamic human being that forever changed the landscape of American society, unfortunately the full scope of his views have been widely ignored since his passing.

Hip Hop High

According to a study, Hip Hop songs are glorifying the use of drugs.

“Rap music is glamorizing drug use, according to a study by researchers at the University of California, Berkeley, who found a sixfold increase in drug references in songs over the past two decades.

“This is an alarming trend, as rap artists are role models for the nation’s youth, especially in urban areas. Many of these young people are already at risk and need to get positive messages from the media,” [study author] Herd said.

She and her colleagues analyzed 341 lyrics from the most popular rap songs between 1979 and 1997. During that time, references to drugs increased sixfold, and there was an increase in songs featuring positive attitudes toward drugs and the consequences of drug use, and an increase in references of drug use to signify glamour, wealth and sociability. In addition, there was a significant change in the types of drugs mentioned in rap songs.”

We do remember Grandmaster Flash’s “White Lines”….There may be some truth here. However, the same comparison could be made for glamorization of prescription drug use on television. That’s got to be up by at least tenfold since 1979. Hip hop is always the scapegoat for some bullsh*t.

After endorsing that shady Hillary Clinton, 50 Cent has turned a new cheek and supports our boy Barack:

“I heard Obama speak. He hit me with that he-just-got-done-watching-’Malcolm X,’ and I swear to God, I’m like, ‘Yo, Obama!’ I’m Obama to the end now, baby!”

“To be honest, I haven’t been following that anymore. I lost my interest,” he said. “I listened to some of the debates and things that they were saying, and I just got lost in everything that was going on…Don’t look for my vote, for me to determine nothing on that. Just say, ’50 Cent, he don’t know, so don’t ask Fiddy.’ I just think there’s people that might not be ready for an African-American president. It’ll be an issue, believe it or not.”

“You’ve got to be conscious of racism, period. And it’s still there. We don’t deal with it as often as my grandparents did. My grandparents grew up in South Carolina, so they experienced the heart of that.”

We see Bugsy has tried to step it up a notch. SMH.

We know everyone has been missing this character. Your boy Pastor Manning with all his preacher swag had a chance to condemn his brotha, Barack Obama, on Fox last night.

Is it just us or Pastor Manning doesn’t make any damn sense? The sh*t is funny though.

If you missed Manning’s classic ’54 Double D’ sermon which caught the attention of that shady Fox News, Click here

Barack Obama went on the View and discussed how he handles those shady Clintons:

“You know, I’m a pretty tough – I’m skinny but I’m tough. I think that the way to handle attacks, wherever they’re coming from – and, you know, there’ve been some tough punches thrown in this Democratic primary … – the way I like to handle attacks is to answer honestly, swiftly, forcefully and truthfully. I think the truth is a powerful weapon.”

He is correct the truth is a powerful weapon. Fu*k Hillary Clinton and her lyin’ ass. YES WE CAN!!!!

Hillary Clinton is a Liar

Posted by Bossip Staff

hillary.clinton.liar

That shady Hillary is up to her usual dirt:

Sen. Hillary Clinton said she “misspoke” last week when she gave a dramatic description of her arrival in Bosnia 12 years ago, recounting a landing under sniper fire. Clinton was responding to a question Monday from the Philadelphia Daily News’ editorial board about video footage of the event that contradicted her assertion that her group “ran with our heads down” from the plane to avoid sniper fire at the Tuzla Air Base, Bosnia-Herzegovina. Tommy Vietor, a spokesman for rival Sen. Barack Obama’s campaign, said the Bosnia claim was part of “a growing list of instances in which Sen. Clinton has exaggerated her role in foreign and domestic policymaking.”

Clinton told the paper’s editorial board it was a “minor blip.” “I say a lot of things — millions of words a day — so if I misspoke, that was just a misstatement,” she said.

SMH, how is that a minor blip? This broad needs to sit her ass down somewhere and shut the hell up instead of ‘misspeaking’ on a regular basis. YES WE CAN!!!

Pastor Wright is Mainstream

Here is a throwback photo of Rev. Jeremiah Wright with Slick Willy at the White House back in 1998 that has surfaced yesterday. Although the mainstream media are doing everything they can to paint Pastor Wright as a fanatic on the fringe of society, Wright has long been a prominent pastor on the American landscape, who’s been embraced by high-ranking public officials – black and white.

Barack Obama has been under fire due to controversial remarks made by his pastor and spiritual mentor of 20 years. Today the Presidential candidate was in Philly and gave a speech addressing the controversy and the continued racial tensions in the U.S.

“This was one of the tasks we set forth at the beginning of this campaign – to continue the long march of those who came before us, a march for a more just, more equal, more free, more caring and more prosperous America. I chose to run for the presidency at this moment in history because I believe deeply that we cannot solve the challenges of our time unless we solve them together – unless we perfect our union by understanding that we may have different stories, but we hold common hopes; that we may not look the same and we may not have come from the same place, but we all want to move in the same direction – towards a better future for of children and our grandchildren.”

“I have already condemned, in unequivocal terms, the statements of Reverend Wright that have caused such controversy. For some, nagging questions remain. Did I know him to be an occasionally fierce critic of American domestic and foreign policy? Of course. Did I ever hear him make remarks that could be considered controversial while I sat in church? Yes. Did I strongly disagree with many of his political views? Absolutely – just as I’m sure many of you have heard remarks from your pastors, priests, or rabbis with which you strongly disagreed.”

“The man I met more than twenty years ago is a man who helped introduce me to my Christian faith, a man who spoke to me about our obligations to love one another; to care for the sick and lift up the poor. He is a man who served his country as a U.S. Marine; who has studied and lectured at some of the finest universities and seminaries in the country, and who for over thirty years led a church that serves the community by doing God’s work here on Earth – by housing the homeless, ministering to the needy, providing day care services and scholarships and prison ministries, and reaching out to those suffering from HIV/AIDS.”

“I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother – a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe.

These people are a part of me. And they are a part of America, this country that I love.”

Paterson Getting The Skeletons Out Early

David Paterson, the successor to former NY governor and wanting to hit hookers raw dude Eliot Spitzer airs out his dirty laundry early in the game:

Responding to rumors circulating in Albany, Paterson and his wife, Michelle, told the Daily News of New York City that both had affairs during a rough patch in their marriage several years ago.

“This was a marriage that appeared to be going sour at one point,” Paterson told the Daily News. “But I went to counseling and we decided we wanted to make it work. Michelle is well aware of what went on.”

Paterson told the newspaper that he maintained a relationship with another woman from 1999 until 2001. He and his wife, Michelle, eventually sought counseling and repaired their relationship. The couple did not go into details. Paterson and the other woman sometimes stayed at a Days Inn on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, the governor said, adding that his Albany staff sometimes stayed there as well when they were in the city. Paterson said he did not use government or campaign funds to pay for the romantic encounters.

Dave said fu*k that, I’m a lay all this on the table early so none of this comes to haunt me down the line.

“Cool We Can Believe In”

Via The New Republic:

Just the other day Geraldine Ferraro was quoted as saying, “If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position, and if he was a woman [of any color] he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept.”

Never mind the fact that I agree with the folks at Bossip.com, that if Obama were white, the Democratic nomination would be over–and that if Hillary were black, she’d be Star Jones, and that if she were a black male, she’d be mayor of Detroit–it’s obvious that Obama’s candidacy isn’t solely a matter of timing. His political narrative is not the fictional happenstance that placed Douglass Dilman into the Oval Office in Irving Wallace’s The Man and cast Chris Rock into the Blockbuster bargain bin in Head of State. Barack has more going for him than good timing, the proper complexion, and the appearance of marital fidelity. He’s got cool, and cool is the ultimate transcendent.
