Oprah Demands Bogus Charges Be Dropped

Posted by Bossip Staff

Oprah and her lawyer’s about to put the legal smackdown on that sheisty former ex-mistress. According to Livesteez:

Oprah Winfrey has asked a court to either dismiss the defamation lawsuit filed against her in Philadelphia last month by the ex-headmistress of her South Africa girls school, or order that the matter be settled in arbitration.

Nomvuyo Mzamane accuses Winfrey of falsely implying that she wasn’t trustworthy, and of making such statements as, “I thought she cared about the girls of South Africa” in the wake of a sex abuse scandal at her Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls. Tiny Virginia Makopo, a dorm matron who worked under Mzamane, was charged with abusing six students last year. She has pleaded not guilty to 14 related charges in a South African court.

Mzamane’s lawsuit seeks more than $250,000 on five defamation and related counts from Winfrey and her production companies, reports the Associated Press. Winfrey denies making any false or defamatory statements and argues that the federal suit should not proceed in Pennsylvania.

This chick ought to be ashamed of herself. All that foul sh*t went down on her watch, then has the nerve to try to dig all up in Oprah’s pockets. She doesn’t stand a chance in hell.

Michael Jackson Settles Multi-Million Dollar Lawsuit

Posted by Bossip Staff

MJ has settled his dispute with a Bahraini prince over millions:

Pop star Michael Jackson has settled a Bahraini prince’s lawsuit accusing him of failing to honor a business deal worth $7 million.

“Sheikh Abdullah and Michael Jackson are pleased to confirm that they have amicably settled their dispute which was in litigation before the High Court in London. They wish each other well in their own, respective endeavors,” the two sides’ legal teams said in a joint statement Monday.

Details of the settlement will remain secret, lawyers for the sheikh said, adding that confidentiality was one of the conditions of the agreement.

The multi-millionaire Bahraini royal had claimed he bailed Jackson out of a financial hole following the singer’s expensive acquittal on child molestation charges in 2005, paying the $2.2 million dollar legal fees and hosting him in his home in Bahrain.

The sheikh accused Jackson of reneging on a contract for a new album and an autobiography — a deal that he says included a $7 million advance.

According to The Associated Press, the 33-year-old said the pair even moved into the same palace in the Gulf state to work on music together. But Jackson dropped the project in 2006, leaving Bahrain and pulling out of the contract.

Jackson’s lawyers maintained the money was a gift and argued that the musician wasn’t bound by the deal because the contract was signed on behalf of 2 Seas Records, a venture which never got off the ground, AP said.

This little transparent nicca is never going to grow up, trying to pull a stunt like this. MJ could have gotten his entire nose pulled off for f*cking around with homeboy’s stacks like that. SMH

Madea Goes To Court

Posted by Bossip Staff

There’s a new edition to the Madea series according Livesteez:

Actor/Director Tyler Perry is being sued over a film script, in which a jury was selected in Marshall’s federal court last week to hear a copyright infringement case against the mogul. Perry was present, under heavy security, for Tuesday’s jury selection process in Marshall, TX. His appearance was deliberately kept secret. Jurors have been instructed to return at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, to hear evidence before U.S. District Judge Leonard Davis.

The lawsuit was filed May 21, 2007, on behalf of Donna West, who is a Texas resident according to court documents. Ms. West’s attorneys claim Perry’s film, “Diary of a Mad Black Woman” was “copied largely from the plaintiff’s copyrighted script.” Ms. West is suing Perry individually as well as Tyler Perry Company Inc. and Lions Gate Entertainment Inc, reports The Marshall News Messenger.

Perry’s attorneys have filed answers to the lawsuit, denying all allegations of copyright infringement. The answers say “the materials claimed to have been copied from the plaintiff’s work are not protected by copyright law because they are ideas, facts, conventions or cliches of story-telling, script-writing or movie-making.”

Meanwhile, Perry’s attorneys say “defendants were not aware and had no reason to believe that their acts constituted an infringement of copyright” because the “defendants’ motion picture was created independently of the plaintiff’s allegedly copyrighted script.”

It looks like Tyler Perry is gonna have to convince a jury he didn’t steal anything from Ms. West and it might just take an @ss whipping or two from Madea to help get the job done. How are yerrr doin’?

Broadway Bully

Terrence has literally been kicking @ss on Broadway:

Oscar-nominated actor Terrence Howard allegedly assaulted composer Tex Allen in a backstage beatdown as they worked together on Broadway’s “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” last winter, according to a lawsuit. Now Allen, a jazz pianist and the brother of Debbie Allen – who directed the play – is demanding $5 million for his alleged fat lip, according to court papers. Allen claims the alleged assault ruined his music playing. The suit alleges that Howard confronted Allen while he sat at the piano at around 2:30 p.m. during a Jan. 24 rehearsal at the Walter Kerr Theatre and punched him repeatedly in the face and head.

This high-yellow, slicked-back hair wearing, hazel-eyed thug is gonna come up out of some stacks for that one. No wonder he played that role in Hustle-n-Flow so well; he wasn’t acting. SMH

Bugsy’s Baby Mama Drama Finally Wrapped Up

Posted by Bossip Staff

Livesteez reports that 50 beat out his baby moms in court:

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson will be spending more time with his 12-year-old son Marquise, after being granted monthly visitation in an agreement reached Wednesday, ending a long, sometimes ugly court battle with ex-girlfriend Shaniqua Tomkins. 50 avoided eye contact with Tompkins as they stood with their attorneys in a Central Islip, N.Y., courtroom just before noon, reports People.com. During the hearing, which lasted less than five minutes, a judge granted Jackson one weekend visit a month with Marquise, one month in the summer and Marquise will also spend half of his school’s winter and spring breaks with his father. “50 is pleased this has been settled and looks forward to spending some quality time with his son,” the rapper’s attorney Brett Kimmel tells People. “We came to an agreement,” Tompkins told People after the hearing. “Despite my feelings for his father, I want Marquise and his father to have a healthy relationship. That’s what that time is for.”

Why was this disputed in the first place if a month and some weekends is all the man wanted? This was obviously about a come up because the more time the boy gets with his father, the shorter her stacks are. Although, we hate to even remotely agree with Bugs Monkey, Shaniqua needs to be slapped.

Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See

Busa Bust, got held up by one time last week and his lawyer is planning to take action:

A UK based lawyer is planning to file a complaint against machine-gun toting police officers, who arrested Busta Rhymes last week in the London City airport. Busta Rhymes’ lawyer Philip Trott was with him on September 25 in the airport, when at least 15 police officers detained Rhymes over his immigration status. Trott, who traveled with Rhymes from Amsterdam to London to help with any issues, is a partner in the law firm Bates, Wells and Braithwaite. When Trott and Rhymes arrived in London, five officers with machine guns greeted Rhymes and Trott’s entourage on the runway. Ten more officers greeted them inside and attempted to send Rhymes back to Amsterdam.

We can understand the law being the law, but 15 officers and machine guns is a bit much for one crew. Come on London, it’s Bust-A-Bust, you don’t remember him? Maybe he shouldn’t have cut off his dreads and taken those ‘roids. SMH

Former Ex-Headmistress Goes After Oprah’s Stacks

Posted by Bossip Staff

What happens when the checks stop coming in? You think of ways you can go after someone’s stacks:

Nomvuyo Mzamane, the former headmistress of Oprah Winfrey’s South African Leadership Academy for Girls, filed a defamation lawsuit against the TV star in Philadelphia Common Pleas Court Friday in an attempt to salvage her professional reputation, PEOPLE has learned exclusively.

The civil suit, filed by attorney Tim McGowan, says Winfrey “launched what amounted to a defamatory campaign” against Mzamane late last year by implying that Mzamane is “untrustworthy, failed the students of the academy, did not care about the students at the academy, knew of alleged physical and sexual abuse at the academy and participated in a cover-up of the alleged abuse,” according to legal papers. The suit cites comments to the media Winfrey made last October and November in the wake of a dorm matron at the school being charged with assaulting and abusing students.

Mzamane, 39, also filed a defamation suit against the blog the Huffington Post and publicity expert Joan Stewart for a Nov. 19, 2007, posting by Stewart saying Mzamane was charged in connection with the scandal.

The Game Skates Again

Posted by Bossip Staff

The Game won’t have to serve any time:

A judge agreed to dismiss Game’s battery charges — for allegedly punching a cousin at a family funeral — as long as he does 36 anger-management meetings by February 2009. He could’ve faced clink time if convicted. The tiff was over money, you’ll remember, and Game’s relative dropped the dime on him at the funeral and made a citizen’s arrest … even before the body was in the ground.

If you knew you could punch your nagging ass aunt, the one who says you’re getting fat at every family reunion, right in her face and not get locked up, would you do it? Hell to the yeah! We hear you. Not that we promote violence, but come on Relative, at the damn funeral, though? Lord, have mercy.

Another Day, Another Arrest

Webbie was arrested for driving like a crazy person:

Baton Rouge native Webbie, 23, was arrested September 14 and charged with felony eluding after leading police on a dangerous high-speed chase through Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Police reports reveal that officers attempted to stop a 2009 Dodge Challenger for a routine traffic stop last Sunday on I-59 North at 3:30pm. The driver ignored the officer’s flashing lights and began driving erratically before crashing into a black 1999 Mercury Cougar. The driver of the Challenger kept going, and police temporarily gave up pursuit to assist the injured passengers of the other vehicle. Later, authorities found the damaged Challenger abandoned in a Walmart parking lot, and eyewitnesses confirmed that three men exited the vehicle for a 1993 Ford Crown Victoria. The vehicle was quickly tracked down and Webbie, real name Webster Gradney, was identified as the driver by the initial traffic stop authorities. Webbie is also facing millions of dollars in lawsuits, amidst claims that he took money from several promoters, but failed to show up to perform at the concerts.

When will these dumb-ass cats get a clue? Driving around reckless will get your ass hemmed up. No comment on the ‘millions of dollars in lawsuits’ claim. Simpleton.

T.I. & Sons

One of T.I.’s baby moms is taking him to court:

The mother of two of T.I.’s children has sued the platinum-selling rapper for child support, saying she is having a hard time supporting the boys and now wants a court-ordered arrangement for payment. Lashon Dixon and T.I. have known each other since they were teenagers and dated before he reached megastar status. They have two sons together, ages 7 and 8. Dixon says T.I. currently gives her about $2,000 a month to care for the boys, but now she wants to schedule a more stable stipend that is commensurate with his success. Both parties appeared in Fulton County Superior Court on Thursday.

We’re pretty sure Tiny drops more than that each time she buys a new purse, so we’re sure little Clifford can hook these boys up with a few more stacks.

Tito Jackson is being sued:

Apparently no one in the Jacko family has any money anymore. Even Tito Jackson is taking money from people and not paying them back, allegedly. A martial arts teacher in Devon, England, is suing Tito for almost $25K, claiming that Wacko’s older bro still owes him that much bread from almost $40,000 he loaned him earlier this year. The original loan, says Matt Fiddes, was for T.J. and his family to travel to north Devon to check out some real estate.

Damn would these niccas get their stacks in order??? Michael made way to much paper for this bullsh*t to be going down. SMH.

Mary is about to have some legal woes:

Mary J. Blige is facing a $2 million federal suit claiming music on her most recent No. 1 album, “Growing Pains,” was stolen. Producer Theron (NEEF-U) Feemster wrote the music for the song “Work That,” but the tune is owned by Dream Family Entertainment Inc., according to a lawsuit filed Tuesday in Manhattan Federal Court. The court filing claims the New York-based firm never gave Blige, Feemster or Geffen Records, the distributor, rights to use the song.

“Mr. Feemster created the music while he was under contract with Dream Family. Dream Family then owned the music, yet the music was used without permission in a Mary J. Blige release recording,” said Dream lawyer Brian Caplan.

“It was released as an album, a single and in a commercial,” Caplan said. Rights to the lyrics of the song – which was featured with Blige in an iPod commercial – are not in question. Caplan said it was unclear if Blige knew the music belonged to someone other than Feemster, and said the producer “had no rights to the music he used.”

That’s pretty much how it goes down in the music industry. Mary ain’t stuntin no measley 2 Million anyway..

J Lo May Be Off the Hook

Posted by Bossip Staff

Jennifer Lopez may be able to finally wash her hands of the night-club shooting fiasco of 1999:

A woman who blames Diddy for being shot in the face during a nightclub incident almost ten years ago has finally let the rappers big-assed girlfriend at the time off the hook — for now.

Yesterday was supposed to be D-day — as in deposition — for Jennifer Lopez in Natania Reuben’s $120 million suit against Puffy — for a 1999 incident in which he was already acquitted of any wrongdoing. The deposition has taken months and months to schedule, but sources tell us Lo has “nothing to contribute” to the case, which is why her depo was finally KO’d. We’re also told that there’s no new date in sight — meaning Lopez may have dodged the bullet for good.

J Lo must be pretty relieved at this point. She’s probably sick and tired of being associated with Puffy’s suspect bullshyte.

According to that crooked ass “Jacob the Jeweler”, Wyclef owes him a small fortune:

Last month jeweler Jacob Arabov began federal prison sentence after being convicted of laundering millions of dollars for the Black Mafia Family. Now Arabov, known for providing bling to numerous Hip-Hop stars, has filed a lawsuit against rapper Wyclef Jean. The man and his company Jacob & Co. claim that the artist owes over $300,000 in oustanding bills.

The New York Daily News reports that a lawsuit was filed yesterday and Jacob & Co. accused Wyclef of purchasing $765,000 worth of watches and jewels between March of 2002 and January 2006, but still has a balance of $319,680.

The 43-year-old jeweler pled guilty to falsifying records and giving false statements in a federal case. He was sentences to 30 months behind bars.

It’s hard to believe anyone can spend over $700 gees on some freakin’ watches. But then again, we wouldn’t put anything past this corrupt jeweler and his shady record keeping.
