Veteran singer Patti Labelle stunned fans at a recent concert when she interrupted her set to launch a vicious attack on the venue where she was performing. Denzel Washington challenged his son to a swimming race while on vacay and came up just short:

DENZEL Washington is proving he’s still in great shape at 54. He celebrated his birthday on Dec. 28 in the Turks and Caicos, and “during a boat ride to the island where his party was held,” said our source, “he jumped overboard and challenged his son to a swimming race.” Washington lost the competition, but won over guests like Star Jones and Turks and Caicos Premier Michael Misick at his 25-person party, where everyone enjoyed Dom Pérignon and platters of lobster

Starting this weekend, The Obamas will be calling DC their home:

The Obama family will move to Washington D.C. this weekend, according to the Barack Obama’s transition team.

“The president-elect will be here in Washington to continue work on an economic recovery plan,” the team announced.

He, his wife, Michelle, and their two daughters Malia and Sasha will stay at a Washington hotel through Jan. 15. From there, they will move into the Blair House, which is the president’s guest house and stands across the street from the White House. Inauguration events begin Jan. 20.

The transition team added: “[Obama] will also be here for the beginning of school.”

We know we speak on behalf of the entire DMV (DC, Maryland, and Virginia), when we say, “Welcome to Chocolate City, Obama and family.” We can all sleep soundly knowing that if the government ever slips, the community damn sure has the artillery to protect him.

Musiq shares his thoughts on the industry and his inspiration to create music:

People. People that support my music and people that come to my shows. I’m always inspired by them, knowing that I still make music that people care about and that people choose to invest in. It’s like you just said, this industry is very unpredictable and you never know what the current climate is going to be at any given moment, so to still be current and credible and to still make music that matters to people, that’s inspiring to me.

Who would have ever thought a high school dropout with a sleepy eye would end up giving millions of people an opportunity to listen to his talent? This cat was probably teased every day, yet he is still humble and grounded after making it. Take notes, people.

Digital music sales are through the roof this year and Leona Lewis is riding that gravy train:

Despite a recession, digital music sales continue to climb, finally breaking the 1 billion sales mark for 2008. According to Nielsen SoundScan, digital track sales are up 28% over 2007′s digital track sales, up more than predicted.

In April 2008, SoundScan projected that digital track sales would break the 1 billion mark for the year, and the mark has been hit with two weeks to spare, and is expected to near the 1.04 billion mark by year’s end.

Of the year’s sales, 17% were credited to the top 200 digital tracks, equaling 171 million sales.

Leona Lewis’ “Bleeding Love” is the highest selling digital song so far in 2008, with 3.3 million sales.

We knew things were going digital, but we don’t know it was like that. We wonder how many more digital sales she would have without Bey ganking sh*t. SMH
