The Bossip Boombox: The Yeezy Effect

We’re sure you’ve still been busy watching the throne and getting your fill of everything Hova and Kanye related. So we decided to switch it up and take it back, waaaaay back for your listening pleasure. Before Mr.West was the Louis Vitton Don he was making hits for some of your favorite artists and even a movie soundtrack. So sit back and enjoy some GOOD Music produced with that ever so special Yeezy Effect.

Talib Kweli – Good To You
Where do we even start? Talib on a Ye produced track riding an Al Green sample. You’re welcome.

Beanie Sigel – The Truth
One of the first Roc A Fella tracks Kanye ever produced, the heat of this Sigel track translated to minor success for him but cemented Ye as a major problem in the studio.

Mos Def feat. Faith Evans – Brown Sugar (Extra Sweet)
This hot track is off the Brown Sugar soundtrack, marking Kanye’s first time appearing on a movie soundtrack and one of his first times working with Mos Def.

T.I. – Doin’ My Job
Clearly Yeezy was doin his job when he created this hit for Clifford and helped Trap Muzik go platinum, not many people know he produced this joint but now you can say you do.

Jay Z – Girls, Girls, Girls Remix
Even though this classic song was only a bonus track on The Blueprint and was released back in 2001, it showed that even then, between Hov and Kanye the throne has been theirs for the taking.

As a Bossip Boombox Bonus, head to the next page to check out a video of Yeezy’s first feature on a song. Can you guess what it is?

The Bossip Boombox

Raheem Devaughn – Can We Make Up
New track from the ever so talented yet underrated Mr.Devaughn. If you ever needed to make up with your boo thang, listening to this song would be the time.

J.Cole – Bring Em In
Latest track off of Cole’s mixtape, Any Given Sunday 2, the track was made during the NC rapper’s hunt for a single. Although it didn’t even end up making his forthcoming album, he still stated on his blog Dreamvillain, “I love this sh*t”.

Katy Perry feat. Missy Elliot – Last Friday Night (TGIF) Remix
Missy Elliott has come out of the shadows — retirement, maybe, since we haven’t heard anything musical from her in quite some time, we’re happy to hear her to lend her big, bold and bad-azz voice to the remix Katy Perry‘s latest hit.

Bow Wow Feat. Lil Wayne, DJ Khaled, Tity Boi – I’ma Stunt
New single off Greenlight 4, people who follow Wayne know this one leaked a few years back, so I was kind of wondering why he was re-putting it out. Bow Wow’s verse and bridge are a new effort. An enhancement to the record since he’s progressed quite a bit since 2008. The tape will be out August 15 for those who care.

Angel Haze – Headlines
The Bossip Boombox New Black Kid On The Block alumni hops on Sherbert’s latest track. We think she holds her own rather well, but we may be bias. What do you think?

The Bossip Boombox

If you’re like us, you’ve probably been Throne Watching all day, so in honor of the latest release by your two favorite heavy weights of hip hop, we decided to make a boombox with some of our favorite collaborations from the past couple of years.

Mos Def and Talib Kweli – Definition

Lawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwd, lawd have mercy. This classic joint by the legendary duo will forever jam.

Nas and Kanye West – Still Dreaming

Another pairing of 2 heavyweights in the game that always know how to hold their own.

Red Man and Method Man – How High

Before Wiz and Curren$y even thought about doing it, these two were perfecting the art of stoner raps duos.

Jay Z and R.Kelly – Body

Although, a very short lived duo, these two literally showed the world the Best Of Both Worlds.

2 Pac and Snoop Dogg – 2 Of Americaz Most Wanted

You thought we would make a list with some of the best collabos and not include this joint?

The Bossip Boombox: The Hottest Female Bars Ever Spit Boombox Pt.1

It’s Friday so you know what that means… yes it’s the day before the beginning of the weekend but it also means another installment of a themed Bossip Boombox. Today’s edition brings you a list of the hottest female MC’s that always represented within their own respective male dominated groups or features. Make sure to tell us what you think. Who came the hardest? And who did we leave out?

Rah Digga feat. Flipmode Squad – “Cha, Cha, Cha”
Most people remember the ridiculous video where the members of Flipmode ran from bulls in Mexico City but if you’re like us, you remember the hot verse by Rah. Always one to hold her own against the ever so talented, Busta Buss. Besides, can you honestly name all the members of Flipmode? We’ll wait.

Lil Kim feat. Diddy, Notrious B.I.G. and The Lox – “All About The Benjamins”
As Kimberly Jones so eloquently articulates, “Only female in my crew and I kick sh*t.” Need we say more?

Foxy Brown feat. The Firm – “Affirmative Action”
Probably one of the most classic verses in all of hip hop, Foxy definitively held her own against Nas, AZ and Cormega. Now if we can only get a new album by them.

Nicki Minaj feat. Kanye West, Jay Z and Rick Ross – “Monster”
Nicki has always had a lot to prove, whether it being compared to another female MC featured in this Boombox, the only female rapper in her very male dominated group or just more than a big butt and a smile but we honestly can say she proved a lot with this feature against hip hop’s biggest heavy weights.

Shawnna feat. 8Ball & MJG – “Candy Coated”
Former member of Ludacris’ group DTP, Shawnna brought the heat on this track featuring the legendary 8Ball & MJG. She is a beast. The end.

The Bossip Boombox: The NBKOTB Edition

Bossip is happy to bring you the second installment of the ‘New Black Kids On The Block” Boombox. It’s a chance for us to introduce you to a couple of new artists who we think… no that we KNOW are pretty dope. So sit back and take notes because we think this group of singers will be making a lot of noise soon.

The Bossip Boombox

Jazmine Sullivan- Drive By (Always On Mind)
Just months after announcing that she was taking a break from music, we get our hands on another new joint from Ms.Sullivan, oh yes this isn’t a official single, but it’s still a great track. I mean how could you not love the mixture of electric and a bluessy sound?

Chevy Woods feat. Mac Miller- The Drive
No word on Wiz Khalifa’s Taylor Gang affiliate Chevy Woods is up to, though he’s got a project coming, and from what we assume this new joint will be featured and maybe the lead single.

Miguel- Superhero
Miguel is on fire right now and his single “Quickie” is tearing through the charts so why not keep the momentum going with another banger.

Joe feat. Pharrell- Gone Away
So it’s safe to say that JOE BACK! And if you cared, this new joint is produced by the Neptunes with Pharrell assisting on vocal duties. Sounds like a Pharrell throw away track to us but we’ll let you be the judge.

Cee-Lo- Tomorrow Never Dies
Brand new joint produced by the ever so talented Saalam Remi. Hopefully this lands on the much rumored new album by Mr.Green.

The Boombox Edition: The King’s Court Edition

Every Friday the Bossip Boombox will be bringing you a themed boombox and to kick it off we decided to highlight the frenzy that is Watch The Throne. No we’re not shoving more Yeezy and Hov down your musical mouth, we’re showcasing a couple of new artists signed to The Throne’s recording labels. Since you’re busy watching the throne, shouldn’t you become familiar with who else is sitting in the royal court? Today we chose to spotlight a couple newcomers signed to Jay Z’s label, RocNation. Throw ya diamonds in the sky people!

The Bossip Boombox

Lloyd- Money On Me
The latest release off of “King of Hearts”. A snippet of the song has been floating around but we finally came across the full version. Don’t speed through this, it’s actually nice.

J-Doe feat. Busta Rhymes, David Banner & T-Pain- Coke, Dope, Crack, Smack (Remix)
Although, you may not be familiar with him yet this newcomer and songwriter releases a hot remix, with the assistance Busta, Banner an T-Pain. We can only assume, he has some major clout already.

Frank Ocean- Thinking About You
In the late hours Mr. Ocean took to his Tumblr and released this song. Even though Frank Ocean hasn’t released many songs yet, he already gets the Bossip stamp of approval.

Cee-Lo Green feat. Tawiah- I Want You
Currently his single in the UK, the version pushed to radio is the same as that found on the album, however a fellow music-head notified me that the iTunes version listed Brit songstress Tawiah as a featured artist.

Bossip Boombox Bonus Time! Today we’re pairing up your favorite bad guy with your favorite ex G-UNIT member.

50 Cent- I’m On It

Game- Infrared

The Bossip BoomBox

Amy Winehouse and Dionne Bromfield

No matter how many jokes we may have made about Amy Winehouse’s whirlwind of a life, we were all hoping that she might get it together one day and live to her full potential. Sadly, that’s a day we will never see.

We’ve been bumping Amy in the office for most of the day, but rather than give you a trite compilation of songs you already know and possibly love, we figured we’d remember her by spotlighting a few other dope young female vocalists to watch.

But before we get to these young ladies, a warning we wish Amy Winehouse would have headed from herself…

Flip the page for the rest of the BoomBox, including a look at Amy Winehouse’s goddaughter/protege Dionne Bromfield

The Bossip Boombox

Young Jeezy- Shake Life
After the nay sayers wrote Jeezy off *cough Officer Ricky cough* we are happy to bring you a new hot track off the delayed fourth album, Thug Motivation 103.

Anthony Hamilton- You
New unreleased material from Mr.Hamilton, hopefully this means a new album in the near future.

Wiz Khalifa feat. Curren$y and Big Sean- Dot Dot Dot
Another dope track released from the stoner trio. Where this will go, nobody knows… yet.

Teairra Mari- Come Back To Me (Janet Jackson Cover)

Freeway- Philly In Me
Brand new track from the Philly Freezer, he puts on for his city.

The Bossip Boombox

Chrisette Michelle ft. Rick Ross & Busta Rhymes – So In Love (Remix)
Busta adds a verse at the beginning of this elegant cut to compliment the one that Rick Ross had already provided on the end. The result is nothing short than beautiful.

Royce da 5’9″ ft. Travis Barker – Legendary
New track from Nickel Nine called “Legendary” featuring Travis Barker. This is supposedly, the intro on Royce’s upcoming Success Is Certain

Tyrese ft. R. Kelly & Rick Ross – I Gotta Chick (Remix)
Apparently Tyrese gotta a chick and gets Rick Ross and R. Kelly on the remix. Oh. Ok.

Consequence ft. Big Pooh & Elzhi – Crying Broke

Bow Wow

Bow Wow – Club Play
As he gears up for his next mixtape and album, Bow Wow decided to record an ode to one of his favorite South Beach hot spots (and ours)

Wale – Bad Girls Club feat. (and produced by) J. Cole
We were really excited about this one… sigh.

Azeem – Hurricanes + Tornadoes feat. Carlos St. John
Once we realized this wasn’t a rap song, it made it much easier for us to give newcomer Azeem a shot. And we’re glad we did. Can’t wait to hear more.

Carl Thomas – It Ain’t Fair
Yes! Carl Thomas is dropping a new album in October called “Conquer”!!! This is the third song we’ve heard so far and so far we have no complaints.

Keke Palmer – The Greatest
We have to admit: looking at little miss Keke, this isn’t quite what we expected her singing voice to sound like. But this is a nice song nonetheless: easy on the ears + a nice little positive message for the kids. We’re not mad at all! Sing yo song, Akeelah!

The Bossip Boombox: The Nikki Jean Edition

We featured the lovely Ms.Jean earlier this week and loved her sound. But as soon as we found out that she was going to be taking over Lupe Fiasco’s Twitter page after his departure from the social networking site, we decided to introduce you to more songs from the lovely songbird.

Sex, Lies and Sunshine
A beautiful track from Nikki’s latest album, Pennies In A Jar

My Love
A Motown inspired joint from her newest album

Exit Sign
An older gem from DJ Deckstream’s album “Soundtrack 2″

Little Weapon feat. Bishop Jean
Featured on Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool

Hip Hop Saved My Life
Another favorite from The Cool

What do you think of Nikki Jean? You think she deserved the Lupe cosign?
