Bobby Brown Debuts New Single “Don’t Let Me Die” Dedicated To Whitney Houston

People will call it calculated and opportunistic, Bobby Brown releasing a single about Whitney Houston three months after his ex-wife’s death.

But then you consider the lyrics and depth of “Don’t Let Me Die,” which Bobby performed on Wednesday’s episode of “Tonight Show With Jay Leno,” and this is Bobby at his realest and rawest, the New Edition bad-boy humbled.

Brown stood onstage Wednesday, bathed in blue light, singing about the woman he loved, the woman he lost.
“I didn’t realize that every breath I took was from you,” he sang. “You were my air.”

Bobby and Whitney were married from 1992 until 2007. The couple had one daughter, Bobbi Kristina, who’s now 19.

The marriage was marred by erratic behavior and drug abuse.

The two split up. Things unraveled. Bobby drifted away from his ex-wife and daughter.

Eventually, the drug abuse claimed the “Queen of Pop.” Following Whitney’s death in February, some of her relatives didn’t want Brown at her funeral.

Bobby was invited, but left over a seating snafu.

Maybe music was the proper venue for Brown’s goodbye, anyway. The lyrics for “Don’t Let Me Die” address his missteps and stumbles.

Yes, Bobby loved Whitney. Sure, he’s probably still hurting. But something about this just smells WRONG!

If Bobby Brown didn’t sound too supportive of Bobbi Kristina doing a reality show with Whitney’s family … it’s because Bobby wanted his daughter on his upcoming reality show … sources close to BB tell TMZ.

According to our sources, Bobby has no problem with Bobbi K doing a reality show … and he has been trying to get her to appear on his show for months. But our sources say that was NEVER going to happen.

We’re told Bobbi K has cut off all lines of communication with Bobby, so he’s been calling Pat Houston (Whitney’s sister-in-law/manager) in an effort to reach out to Bobbi. Our sources say Bobbi never even considered doing her father’s show and the rest of the family feels Bobby was only trying to use her to make his upcoming show more marketable.

Our sources say Bobby found out about the Houston family show yesterday like everyone else did.

Bobby Brown And Fianceé Announce June Date For Their Hawaii Wedding

According to TMZ reports:

Bobby Brown is managing to kill two giant birds with one stone … a concert with his band and his long-awaited wedding — all in one weekend trip to Hawaii.

Sources tell TMZ … Brown and his fiancée — Alicia Etheridge — have finally set a wedding date after 2 years of engagement bliss … and it’s the same weekend Brown’s band New Edition will be performing in Honolulu.

We’re told the nuptials will take place on the weekend of June 15th … Brown will be flying out some of his family and friends to the island, to witness the ceremony he has dubbed his “big day.”

The duo has been engaged since May 2010 and have one child together.

Bobby was previously married to Whitney Houston who passed away in February.

FYI — It’s also Father’s Day weekend … so 3 birds and one volcanic sized stone.

Wonder if Bobbi Kristina will be in attendance??

Karrine might not be known as Superhead anymore but this broad needs a “gag” order!

Ex-video vixen and “reformed” slore Karrine Steffans claims Ray J taunted Bobby Brown after he first hooked-up with Whitney Houston, saying in a phone call: ‘I f**ked your wife.’

Speaking to Vanity Fair magazine’s June issue, Steffans, infamously known in the industry as Superhead, revealed the brief spat occured during her relationship Bobby Brown.

Claiming Ray J, who she had had a previous relationship with, called her late one night, Steffans revealed: ”[Ray J asked] Is Bob still staying with you?’ I said, ‘Yeah, he’s right here.’ And Ray said, ‘Tell him I f**ked both of his chicks, you and now his wife.”

It’s not secret that since they went public, Ray J and Whitney Houston’s relationship has been a turbulent one. In recent years, Ray has received some backlash amid rumors surrounding him as being Whitney’s ‘runner boy’ for drugs – however he maintains that he loved his best friend ‘Nippy.’

”Bob’s big thing was everyone blamed him for her downfall,” added Steffans. “But when he met her she was already using drugs. He always felt very angry about that. He told me, ‘What everybody saw wasn’t the real Whitney.’ He always said her private persona—which you saw on Being Bobby Brown—was who she really was.”

We’re not sure about this one. We know Ray-J can talk tough, but Superhead has been caught lying and in some scandals her mouth couldn’t talk (or suck) its way out of. Why won’t this attention slorin’ ho keep Whitney out her man-juice filled expired pie-hole?

Bobbi Kristina is plotting to get knifed up according to new reports in the latest print edition of Star Magazine:

“Krissy is planning on getting a nose job and a boob job,” a source tells Star. “She’s been consulting with her mother’s friends to find out which doctors she should use.” And Whitney Houston’s only daughter thinks now is the perfect time, as she steps into showbiz on the Tyler Perry sitcom For Better or Worse. “Now that she’s pursuing acting, she wants a total makeover,” says the source. And Krissy, 19, hopes fiancée Nick Gordon, 22, will like her new look. “They want to get married really soon,” says the source, “and she wants to look her best on the big day.”

SMH. This is not the right time. Bobbi Kris shouldn’t do anything rash while she’s still mourning her mom’s death. Besides, her mom had a huge career without any boost from her bosoms. In fact, if we recall, Whitney had some kind of an implant mishap, didn’t she?

Bobby Brown says he’s not the blame for Whitney Houston’s death:

In his first interview since the death of Whitney Houston, Bobby Brown exclusively tells TODAY’s Matt Lauer, “I’m not the reason she’s gone.” In a candid sit-down set to air Wednesday, Brown, who says he’s “very much clean and sober from narcotics,” talks to Lauer about the last time he saw Houston, how he found out about her death, and why he gets blamed for her drug use. He talks about his relationship with their daughter, Bobbi Kristina, and addresses recent rumors and controversy surrounding her personal life. And Thursday, speaking publicly for the first time, three of Brown’s children and his fiancée tell TODAY how they feel about the media’s portrayal of Brown.

When asked about the last time he saw Houston, a week or so before she died, Brown says the iconic singer “had this glow about her that was just, you know, incredible. I’m saying to myself, you know, ‘She must be … she must be doing really well,’ because she looked really well.” Brown says Houston, to whom he was married for 15 years, “looked like she was in a good place.”

Lauer asks Brown how he took the news that cocaine was a likely contributor to the death of Houston, 48, who was found in a bathtub in a Beverly Hills hotel on Feb. 11. “I was hurt. I was hurt … because, you know, me being off of narcotics for the last seven years, I felt that she was, you know, I didn’t know she was struggling with it still. But at the same time, you know, listen, it’s a hard fight. It’s a hard fight to, you know, maintain sobriety that way.” Based on his own feelings and how she appeared when he last saw her, Brown theorizes that that one day of cocaine use — not the effects of longterm use — was enough to kill Houston. “It had to be that one, because that’s all it takes,” Brown said. “One hit, you know … it could definitely take your life away from you. And, unfortunately, that was it.”

Lauer pressed the 43-year-old R&B star on the talk after Houston’s death. “If I heard it once, I heard it a hundred times, and I know you heard it too,” Lauer said. “Fans, people who say they were close to Whitney, say her life went downhill when she met Bobby Brown. How does it make you feel when you hear it?”
“It makes me feel terrible,” Brown said. “But you know, I know differently. I think if anyone ever knew us, if anybody ever spent time around us instead of time lookin’ through the bubble, they would know how we felt about each other. They would know how happy we were together.”

Brown says the couple got a wakeup call from starring in the reality TV series “Being Bobby Brown.” “We looked at the bubble and saw ourselves. We was able to see what other people were saying about us, you know? We was able to see that our drug use had affected our relationship, had affected the love that we felt for each other.” But when asked by Lauer about the popular perception that he is the one responsible for getting Houston hooked on drugs, Brown says, “not true.” “I didn’t get high [on narcotics] before I met Whitney,” Brown said. “I smoked weed, I drank the beer, but no, I wasn’t the one that got Whitney on drugs at all.” He says drugs were a part of the singer’s life “way before” they got together. “It’s just … it’s just unexplainable how one could, you know, [say that I] got her addicted to drugs. I’m not the reason she’s gone,” Brown said.

In the second part of Lauer’s interview, which will air Thursday, the TODAY host talks with three of Brown’s children — Landon, Bobby Jr., and La’Princia — and his fiancée, Alicia Etheridge. The children all say the public perception of their father is not the right one. Son Landon says people confuse his father’s stage persona with the real man. “I feel like my father’s always had the bad boy image. So, you know, they just keep followin’ that. Anything that they can take a negative from the situation, they blow it out of proportion and blame him.”
