I can be at People’s Bar-B-Que or Sustain or Prime One Twelve, and I’m comfortable. It’s rare for me to feel that level of freedom. Miami represents joy for me.”

Dwyane Wade celebrated his 30th birthday at the Setai Hotel in South Beach, FL. Many big stars were in the building to celebrate the occasion including Gabrielle Union, Kelly Rowland, Lebron James, Usher, Alonzo Mourning, Fat Joe, and countless others.

Dwyane’s family surprised him with 3 special performances. Starting off was Common who shares the same neighborhood as Dwyane back in Chicago. Then Lil Duval came out to introduce T.I. And last but not least, Rick Ross shut it down!

Happy Dirty 30 Dwyane!!! The PDA’s were in full effect at Dwyane Wade’s 30th birthday party in Miami Sunday night. First Dwyane and his closest friends and family gathered for a special “30 for 30” dinner at The Setai South Beach. Later that evening, Dwyane arrived for his official birthday bash where he and guests enjoyed performances from Common, T.I., and Rick Ross. With girlfriend Gabrielle Union by his side, the NBA star celebrated the occasion at the Setai Hotel along with some 400 guests, including Kelly Rowland, Lebron James, Chris and Adrienne Bosh, Pat Riley, DJ Khaled, Flo Rida and more…

Wade was also surprised with a video tribute filled with well wishes from Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez, Michael Jordan, Kelly Ripa, Anna Wintour, Queen Latifah, P. Diddy, Jimmy Fallon and The Roots, Jay Leno, George Lopez, ABC’s Juju Chang, Al Roker, GQ’s Jim Moore, Richard Chai, Carmelo Anthony, Kobe Bryant, teammates Lebron James, Chris Bosh, and Dorell Wright, among many others. The event was followed by an after party at Mynt.

Chrissy had this to say about which Heat teammate he’d want taking the last shot:

GQ: Quick hypothetical, toes aside: Let’s say the game was tied. 10 seconds left. You had 30 points, LeBron’s got 30, and Wade’s got 30. You got the same amount of rebounds, same amount of assists—having the same great game. Who takes the shot at the end to either win or loose the game.
Chris Bosh: [immediately] Dwyane.

GQ: Why?
Chris Bosh: Because of his success in the past, given what he’s done. He’s a champ. He’s an MVP, and he’s hit a bunch of last-second shots. That’s the time you have to put pride aside a little bit, and do what’s best for the team. He’s quickest, and he’s gonna get a shot off. He relishes those moments.

Damn, Chrissy. LeBron’s already crying after blowing game after game this season and last year. Now you’re throwing him under the bus like that. Well, we know who’s getting traded if the Heat fall apart this season. Bye, Chrissy!

More quotes from Gabby Union and D-Wade’s February Essence cover story have been released, and while folks are still focused on Dwyane saying the couple is in no rush to wed, we thought you might be interested in hearing how Gabrielle would like to keep the nuptials private — unless the price is right!

In the February issue of Essence, loves of nearly three years Union and Dwayne Wade talk candidly about their views on marriage — and why Union may be headed to reality TV.

“We’re not rushing it,” Wade, a 29-year-old NBA player, says. “Both of us have been married before, and we understand that if we choose to marry again, we want it to be right.”

(Wade has two sons, Zaire, 9, and Zion, 3, with ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches; Union was wed to NFL player Chris Howard from 2001-2006.)

“We both took failing at marriage hard,” Wade explains. “The next time it’s gotta be forever.”

Union, who next stars in Tyler Perry’s Good Deeds, echoes her boyfriend’s sentiments. “When it happens, it’s going to be something that only our friends and family know about,” the 39-year-old actress tells Essence. “That is, unless the E! Network comes up with the right number, of course.”

It’s safe to say this is a wedding we’d tune in for riiiiiight??? Do it guys!

With her having two high-profile movies coming up in the first half of the year, and him finally being back at work, Essence Magazine bagged Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade‘s joint cover for their February issue.

In the magazine, which hits newsstands on January 12, D. Wade and Gabby talk about their relationship and the many rumors they’ve had to shoot down since they got together. The two also open up about the possibility of a wedding anytime soon.

Dwyane says:

“We’re not rushing it. Both of us have been married before, and we understand that if we choose to marry again, we want it to be right. We both took failing at marriage hard. The next time it’s gotta be forever…”

NBA star LeBron James will be ringing in the new year in style.

The Miami Heat’s big three — James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade — will cheer the arrival of 2012 and James’ birthday at a dinner at Vesper American Brasserie at the Shelborne Hotel in South Beach.

James, who turns 27 on Friday, will be feted by 50 friends, including girlfriend Savannah Brinson.

Wade’s girlfriend, Gabrielle Union, and Bosh’s wife, Adrienne Williams-Bosh, also will be on the scene.

Later, the crew will head to the Shelborne’s pool for a performance by Lauryn Hill.

But they cannot get too carried away with the celebrations. The Heat have a game Sunday evening against the Charlotte Bobcats.

Lauryn Hill? Really?? We love us some L-Boogie but she ain’t quite the same no’ mo’. We’re surprised that he didnt’ have the homie Hov come and kick a bar or two, but perhaps he was a lil preoccupied with Bey-Bey’s soon-to-bust baby bump…
