Remember that crazy report Friday that said it was a wrap for your boy Eddie Murphy?? Well Charlie Murphy is confirming that his is fine…and ALIVE!

Despite an Internet report that circulated Friday declaring the actor dead after a car crash in Australia, the Beverly Hills Cop star’s brother confirms Murphy is alive and well. “My brother is fine. People who start these type of rumors are sick people,” fellow comic Charlie Murphy tweeted after the Global Associated News Website sent out a bogus report. “It’s really astounding how low people will go for attention. Eddie Murphy is fine!”

According to the site, Murphy, 50, was said to have perished in a single car crash in Queensland, Australia, while on vacation. Though the site appears legit at first glance, Murphy fans who took a closer look at the page would have seen a small-print disclaimer denouncing the site and its contents as fake.

We knew this one couldn’t possibly be true because there was no sign of Johnny Gill weeping profusely from under the shroud of a black lacy veil. SMH. Eddie Murphy is the latest celebrity death hoax victim. Rest assured, he is still very much alive.

According to TMZ reports:

The Internet is blowing up with reports that Eddie Murphy is dead. NOT TRUE.

We made some calls, and Eddie is very much alive.

The frenzy was triggered by MediaFetcher.com. The site has been spinning bogus stories about other celebs they claim are dead but are not — including Jon Bon Jovi, Charlie Sheen, Adam Sandler, TooShort, Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Bacon, Luke Perry, Jack Black, Will Smith, Jaden Smith, Tom Green, Mac Miller, Tiger Woods, George Clooney, and others.

This is just crazy. Who has time to sit around making up lies about people dying? And Eddie Murphy’s death is no joke. We’d be devastated. Glad to know he’s still with the living.

In “another reality show based on fawking with someone who is famous” news; in what promises to be another outstanding addition to the VH1 lineup, Eddie Murphy‘s ex-wife Nicole and Will Smith‘s ex-wife Sheree are reportedly going to co-star in a reality show called “Ex-List.”

According to TheUrbanDaily:

Nicole Murphy is rumored to have been experiencing financial trouble since divorcing Eddie Murphy, so she may be doing the show simply for the check. In addition to being the ex-wife of Eddie Murphy, Nicole is currently engaged to NFL commentator Michael Strahan. Sheree has remarried since divorcing Will Smith, and she’s now a pastor’s wife and known as Sheree Fletcher.

Filming for “Ex-List” is scheduled to begin in March.

According to TMZ reports:

Eddie Murphy’s ex-wife is out $7 million — and now, the man accused of conning her out of the dough has been indicted on charges of money laundering, mail fraud and obstruction of justice.

According to the federal indictment, Troy Stratos defrauded Nicole Murphy out of a massive chunk of her divorce settlement from Eddie — $7 million in all … nearly half of what she took away from the marriage.

According to the docs, Stratos acted as Nicole’s financial manager — telling her he had invested her millions overseas, when in fact he transferred the lion’s share of the money to his personal accounts.

Stratos also allegedly promised to help her sell her swanky home in Granite Bay, CA — but secretly lived there instead … rent-free … all while leasing luxury cars with her money.

What’s more … Stratos allegedly convinced Nicole to refinance the home — as well as her other pad in Sacramento — and then used the money to cover his personal expenses.

A rep for Nicole has no comment due to ongoing litigation.

Damn, that $7 milli was half of her divorce settlement??? And she gave it to THIS guy??? He must be really good, hopefully Nicole can recover her racks on racks on racks…

After years of talk, the unbelievable-but-true story of Marion Barry may be coming soon to a flat-screen TV near you — starring Eddie Murphy as D.C.’s former mayor-for-life.

We’re told that a still-untitled Barry biopic is in development by HBO Films, with the veteran comic and Oscar nominee attached as the star, Spike Lee as director, John Ridley as writer, and all three as executive producers.

D.C. journalists Harry Jaffe and Tom Sherwood have been tapped as consultants — “Dream City,” their 1994 book about D.C. politics, is among the source material the creators are eyeing — as have Dana Flor and Toby Oppenheimer, the filmmakers behind the 2009 documentary “The Nine Lives of Marion Barry.”

HBO officials would not comment. It’s not the first time the network has considered milking the Barry drama: In 2002, filming was reportedly due to start on a movie starring Jamie Foxx and written by Chris Rock that somehow never happened.

A rep for Councilmember Barry said he did not know about the latest project and had no comment.

This should be great. HBO does an amazing job with their original programming, Spike is nice with the bio pics and Eddie has already proven he plays a great junkie. We can’t wait!

Oscar organizers on Thursday brought back funnyman Billy Crystal to host the film awards after recent days of turmoil that led to the departure of one producer and his handpicked emcee Eddie Murphy.

Crystal, who has hosted the widely-watched Hollywood telecast eight times previously, announced his new job on Twitter with a post: “Am doing the Oscars so the young woman in the pharmacy will stop asking my name when I pick up prescriptions. Looking forward to the show.”

Tom Sherak, president of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences that puts on the Oscars, called Crystal “a comic legend and Oscar icon.”

“I’m thrilled to welcome Billy back to the Oscar stage,” Sherak said.

You hear that? That’s millions of people under the age of 55 suddenly not giving a flying freak about the Oscars this year. Oh, Eddie, you could have had something special.

Eddie Murphy is leaving the Oscars in support of his buddy Brett Ratner.

Here’s his statement:

“First and foremost I want to say that I completely understand and support each party’s decision with regard to a change of producers for this year’s Academy Awards ceremony,” Murphy said earlier today. “I was truly looking forward to being a part of the show that our production team and writers were just starting to develop, but I’m sure that the new production team and host will do an equally great job.”

Aw, well that’s a shame. We understand the Eddie wanted to work with his long-time collaborator, but we sure would have loved to see what they would have come up with. Oh well. Blame Ratner and his big mouth.

Rom-com queen or box office flop?

It looks like producers aren’t getting bang for their buck when it comes to Drew Barrymore, who was named Hollywood’s most overpaid actor by Forbes Magazine.

The actress, who has starred in one movie miss after another, brings in only $0.40 for every dollar she gets paid, the magazine calculated.

Chalk that “win” up to a string of film disasters, including 2010′s “Going the Distance,” which only raked in $42 million world wide, and the 2007 box office failure, “Lucky You,” which brought in $8 million.

Funnyman Eddie Murphy landed second on the list, bringing in $2.70 for every $1 he gets.

To compile the list, Forbes looked at the 40 highest paid stars in Hollywood who have made at least three films in the last five years.

The magazine then added up production budgets and divided by how much actors were compensated to come up with a return investment number for each star.

Other stars not pulling their box office weight were Will Ferrell ($3.50), Reese Witherspoon ($3.55), Denzel Washington ($4.25) and Nicolas Cage ($4.40).

Adam Sandler and Vince Vaughn also made the rankings, both of them raking in $5.20 for every dollar studios spent on them, and Tom Cruise, bringing in $6.35.

Actress Nicole Kidman rounded out the top ten, making $6.70 in returns.

That’s crazy, some of the folks on this list are well-respected actors and they don’t even draw in the price of one ticket per dollar they make. Wonder who would make the list of actors that make the studio the most money??
