TV Ann Coulter

The half giraffe and half man looking political commentator, Ann Coulter, is trying to go hard at your girl Michelle O’:

Right-wing flame thrower Ann Coulter blasts incoming First Lady Michelle Obama as a freakish Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis imitator in a book to be published next week.

In her latest screed, titled “Guilty: Liberal ‘Victims’ and their Assault on America,” Coulter accuses the liberal left of playing the victim when in fact, she argues, they are the victimizers.

As usual, Coulter throws plenty of bombs herself. Lashing out at the President-elect’s wife, Coulter wrote, “Her obvious imitation of Jackie O’s style - the flipped-under hair, the sleeveless A-line dresses, the short strands of fake pearls - would have been laughable if done by anyone other than a media-designated saint.” Continue »

We Never Get Enough of Michelle Obama

Posted by Bossip Staff

The First Black Lady is on the December 1 issue of Newsweek and some light is shed on how some black females feel about her position:

At a recent Sunday brunch after church, my “sista friends” and I sat on the patio of a Los Angeles restaurant gabbing about the election of Barack Obama. Sure, we were caught up in the history of the moment. Most of us never thought we’d see an African-American president. But as a group of six black women in our 30s and 40s, we were equally excited by who is coming along with Obama to the White House—his wife, Michelle, and their two young daughters. We all praised—OK, maybe even envied—Michelle’s double Ivy League pedigree, her style, her cool but friendly demeanor. And yet we’re all aware of how much we have riding on her. At 44, Michelle Obama will be the youngest First Lady since Jacqueline Kennedy. And many are expecting her to usher in a similarly glamorous era in Washington.

Michelle definitely exudes confidence, power, sexiness, but not in such abundance that she doesn’t still seem very down to earth. Do you thing, First Lady, do your thing.

How do some of our “sisters” feel about Michelle’s position?

Popular News Magazine: Michelle Obama Got Back

Posted by Bossip Staff

A writer from Salon Magazine posted the following on the backs of the hottest chick in the game, Michelle Obama:

Actually, it took me and a lot of other similarly configured black women by surprise. So anxious and indignant were we about Michelle getting attacked for saying anything about America that conservatives could turn into mud, we hardly looked south of her neck. I noted her business suits and the fact she hardly ever wore pants (unlike Hillary). As I gradually relaxed, as Michelle strode onto more stages and people started focusing on her clothes and presence instead of her patriotism, it dawned on me — good God, she has a butt! “Obama’s baby (mama) got back,” wrote one feminist blogger. “OMG, her butt is humongous!” went a typical comment on one African-American online forum, and while it isn’t humongous, per se, it is a solid, round, black, class-A boo-tay. Try as Michelle might to cover it with those Mamie Eisenhower skirts and sheath dresses meant to reassure mainstream voters, the butt would not be denied.

As America fretted about Obama’s exoticism and he sought to calm the waters with speeches about unity and common experience, Michelle’s body was sending a different message: To hell with biracialism! Compromise, bipartisanship? Don’t think so. Here was one clear signifier of blackness that couldn’t be tamed, muted or otherwise made invisible. It emerged right before our eyes, in the midst of our growing uncertainty about everything, and we were too bogged down in the daily campaign madness to notice. The one clear predictor of success that the pundits, despite all their fancy maps, charts and holograms, missed completely? Michelle’s butt.

Lord knows, it’s time the butt got some respect. Ever since slavery, it’s been both vilified and fetishized as the most singular of all black female features, more unsettling than dark skin and full lips, the thing that marked black women as uncouth and not quite ready for civilization (of course, it also made them mighty attractive to white men, which further stoked fears of miscegenation that lay at the heart of legal and social segregation). In modern times, the butt has demarcated class and stature among black society itself. Emphasizing it or not separates dignified black women from ho’s, party girls from professionals, hip-hop from serious. (Black women are not the only ones with protruding behinds, by the way, but they’re certainly considered its source. How many gluteally endowed nonblack women have been derided for having a black ass? Well, Hillary, for one.)

Quote of The Day

Posted by Bossip Staff

Newsweek has an interesting article about what Michelle Obama’s First Lady Status really means, here is an excerpt:

But Michelle’s influence could go far beyond the superficial. When her husband raises his hand to take the oath of office, Michelle will become the world’s most visible African-American woman. The new First Lady will have the chance to knock down ugly stereotypes about black women and educate the world about American black culture more generally. But perhaps more important—even apart from what her husband can do—Michelle has the power to change the way African-Americans see ourselves, our lives and our possibilities.

It’s an amazing opportunity—and a huge responsibility. “I think she’s always going to be classy, because she knows she’s not just representing herself,” said my friend Gertrude Justin, 40, a nurse from Houston. “She knows she’s fighting stereotypes of black people that have been around for decades and that her every move will be watched. I’m sure she’s been just as insulted by the lack of true depictions of African-American women as any other black woman.” Michelle will be a daily reminder that we’re not all hotheaded, foaming-at-the-mouth drug addicts, always ready with a quick one-liner and a roll of the eyes.

This is How it Should Be Done

In a Livesteez report, First Lady Michelle O speaks on maintaining normalcy while operating as “Mom-in-Chief”:

As her husband, President-elect Barack Obama prepares to become the nation’s new Commander-in-Chief, Michelle Obama has coined a new title for herself - Mom-in-Chief - one she proudly admits to inventing.

But the First Lady isn’t worried about the transition and is ready to weather the storm, as long as she can still fix her girls’ hair and put them to bed at night, according to OK!. Michelle adds, her only concern is that she wishes she could pull herself together as fast as her husband does. “Barack puts on his suit, tie and he’s out the door,” she recently told “The View.” “I’m getting my hair, makeup, the kids…” Meanwhile, the CIC is pulling double duty as well. Barack Obama may be the new president, but when it comes to being involved in his girls life, he’s present for parent-teacher meetings, ballet recitals and reading Harry Potter, just like most parents across the country. Before jetting off to the White House Monday, he kissed his daughters, Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7, goodbye and dropped them off at school.

Check out Mr. President on the Cover of Us with the girls.

And as a special treat for you, can you guess who this cutie pie is? Continue »

Oh, Now You Have Fashion Advice???

Posted by Bossip Staff

Typically tore back Condeleezza recently gave her regards to Michelle:

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says Michelle Obama “will be great” as First Lady.”She’s got a sense of style, and she’s obviously a committed person,” she told Us Monday at Glamour’s Women of the Year awards in NYC. “She’s very smart, and it’ll be great to have kids in the White House!” Her fashion advice for Michelle? “Well, she’s terrific. She looks wonderful in everything that she wears,” Rice told Us. “I know she’ll do what I believe - which is to wear things you feel good in. Things that are yours, not something that someone gave you.” “Also,” Rice added, “it’s okay to wear red once in a while.”

The thing that gets us, is that Conde is known for being tacky, but the first lady is known for be fashionable even before the inauguration. Rice should be asking Mrs. Obama for tips, especially since Conde dresses like Mrs Bush.
