Ashanti was showcasing her stubbly armpits at her listening party in NYC while Joy Bryant hit up the Billabong Second Annual Design for Humanity to Benefit Surfrider Foundation. Ashanti may join the growing number of recording artists that are hanging up the mic:

“Ashanti is considering ditching music for movies to be a full-time movie star. The multi-talented 27-year-old has already starred in Resident Evil, John Tucker Must Die and Coach Carter – and she reveals she is so hooked on Hollywood she wants to work behind the camera as well as in front of it. Ashanti says, ‘I’m always reading scripts. I’m even looking to get into some behind-the-scenes work. Maybe do some co-producing. It’s all about taking chances. You can’t be afraid to try something different.’”

Who’s truly committed to making music anymore? It seems like more and more rappers/singers are using it as a stepping stone to enter the world of Hollyweird. It’s like everyone who steps up to the mic thinks they can automatically act or some sh*t. We’re feeling Ashanti’s idea about getting “behind the scenes.” Based on her on-screen performances – it’s her best bet – seriously.

“Buddies” Kelis and Dania Ramirez were at some MTV Platinum gift lounge for the MTV awards this weekend in Hollyweird. Damn, is it just us or does Kelis seem to spend more time with Dania than Nas?

No comment on Shar Jackson, there is obviously no hope for that poor thang.

Ashanti graces the cover of the newest edition of Jet magazine. In the past, we have not been big fans of Ashanti’s music, but she seems to be stepping her game up a tad. Here is a new track from her and Robin Thicke called “Things You Make Me Do.” It’s kinda alright, she has definitely come a long way from when she used always say, “It’s Bananas.” Check it out below:

“R & B star Ashanti is saving up a fortune so she can semi-retire and play mum to 12 kids. The singer/songwriter, who is dating rapper Nelly, admits to having motherhood on her mind, but she wants to amass a small fortune before she becomes a mum – so she can be comfortable financially.

The savvy star holds back on buying expensive treats and instead saves the millions she gets from her film and music careers. She says, ‘I need, like, 12 (kids)… I love kids. I definitely want to get married… I’m so family oriented. I want the big wedding, I want the long marriage, I want kids. Shots were fired, and one man injured at a hip-hop fashion show in ATL.:

“The shooting happened during a ‘Hot on the Runway’ fashion show, sponsored by popular Hip-Hop station Hot 107.9. Celebrities like Mario, Ashanti, Young Berg, Ray J, Lil Scrappy, Diamond had performed or were present during the evening, in what was described as a successful event, until the shots rang out, long after the fashion show had ended. According to police, a 22-year-old man was sitting on a couch near the club’s bar in the terrace area, when an unknown assailant shot him twice in the abdomen. Police also said that witnesses were not being cooperative. At present time there are no suspects.”

We’re plain sick and tired of our events being plagued with violence. We wish the victim a speedy recovery, and hope they catch the shooter. By the by…This no snitching thing is getting beyond out of pocket. SMH.
