Nas talks politics:
“There never been a president to address the slaughter of young black people by this country’s police. When your government’s police are killing one section of people, that’s genocide. There’s never been a president to even acknowledge it. You don’t acknowledge that? That’s a big thing President Obama has to recognize when he gets in office. I’m five presidents in … and I ain’t seen nothing happen to stop the police murders on young, black people,” he added. “Why would I believe in the system? With that being said, I think Barack can cure that disease and help cure the country. Not just in that area with us blacks, but also with all Americans. Women are getting treated like dogs. You know how hard it is for a woman to prove she was raped? The system is warped. They throw young guys — who’s starving — in jail just trying to survive on the streets. Throw them in jail forever. Young kids, 18 years old, executed in Texas. Yet, child predators get to come home and do it again. I think it’s so much our president can do. [Obama] seems like a human being. I say that because a lot of presidents don’t seem like human beings. They seem like straight-up businessmen who care about nothing but the business. Nah, you gotta care about the people.”

Nas’ decision not to call his new album Ni**er has put a smile on ole Al’s face.
“The 34-year-old New York native wanted to use the title to make a political statement about the hypocrisy in hip-hop. But criticizm from Def Jam record executives and fear of a decline in sales persuaded him to pull the title on Monday, just six weeks before the album hits stores on July 1.
And Sharpton is calling the rapper’s decision a ‘partial victory’ for racial-equality activists.
He says, ‘The record companies have to consider the downside of using it, business-wise. That would not have happened if we hadn’t protested. I have a lot of respect for Nas. I liked what he said about Sean Bell. We have a fundamental disagreement on this. He can rap against me. I’ll preach against them. We’re still friends.’”
Al got what he wanted, and Nas will have increased record sale. Sounds like everybody got their back scratched here.

Nas spoke to MTV on Bill O’Reilly’s comments on him performing at “A Concert for Virginia Tech” which took place last night:
“He’s a racist. Everybody has a marketing plan; his marketing plan is racism. He doesn’t understand the younger generation. He deals with the past. The people he represents are Republican, older, a generation that has nothing to do with the reality of what’s happening now with my generation. … He’s not really on my radar. People like him are supposed to be taught and people like me are supposed to let n—as like him know. I don’t take him serious. His sh– is all about getting ratings or whatever. I wouldn’t honor anything Bill O’Reilly has to say. It just shows you what bloodsuckers do: They abuse something like the Virginia Tech [tragedy] for show ratings. You can’t talk to a person like that.” Continue »

Bill O’Reilly has stepped his hater game up once again. In a recent broadcast of “The O’Reilly Factor”, he blasted Virginia Tech for choosing Nas to perform at a back to school Memorial Concert in memory of the shooting victims.
“After 32 human beings are murdered at Virginia Tech a concert welcoming students back features a guy who traffics in violent lyrics. How disturbing is this?”
O’Hater, who considers Nas a ganster rapper, put together a clip of Nas’s most violent lyrics to back up his protest.

5 Cent talking about whether the true legend, Nasir Jones, is smart in the new issue of XXL:
You have different kinds of people. You have people that are extremely book smart that lack common sense so they don’t know what’s going to affect their audience. They have more information than me based on reading. For instance, Nas is a really smart guy. He reads books constantly. We were around him on the Nastradamus tour. He was almost weirder than me ’cause we would go to breakfast and he’d be there reading a book. Conceptually, I think that’s what made him drift away from what his initial audience enjoys from him and why he’s not hot right now.
5 Cent makes time during the interview to di*k ride Eminem:
On a higher level, Em for me is like next to my grandmother. He did things for me when I couldn’t do them myself. I needed him at that point and he actually came through for me.
5 Cent doesn’t even qualify to light Nas’ blunt for him. If 5 Cent thinks he is still hot, why does he keep pushing his album back? That garbage and lack of creativity is not selling this time around. That predictable ‘hoes, money, and shoot everyone up’ formula is not working for 5 cent anymore, no one is buying what he is selling, literally.

Nas will be performing in the UK tonight and he has made some interesting concert demands. According to the UK Mirror:
We hear the rapper, 33, has demanded a police escort to and from the gig at The Works, stating in his demands: “Under no circumstances is the artist to be delayed arriving or departing the venue due to traffic.”He’s also insisting on Kentucky Fried Chicken, 24 assorted Snapple drinks, blackberries, cranberries – oh, and three BMW X5 4x4s.
Got to love that combo, police and chicken. That bucket of chicken reminds me of this story.
