Did Snoop Dogg (born Calvin Cordozar Broadus) endorse GOP candidate Ron Paul for president?

Well, sort of. The rapper posted a photo of Paul on his Facebook page Sunday with the headline “Smoke Weed Everyday.” The caption of the photo reads a simple “Because I said so.” Broadus, an outspoken marijuana enthusiast, is no stranger to drug-related charges. His most recent arrest for alleged possession occurred earlier this month in Sierra Bianca, Texas.

One user commented: “Thank you Snoop!!!! We need more people like you to stand up for freedom.”

“Substance,” interjected another. “What Ron Paul speaks and Snoop Dog smokes!!! Ron Paul/Snoop Dog in 2012!”

Snoop Dogg’s quasi-endorsement of Paul is presumably because of the candidate’s maverick stance on marijuana and drug policy. During his years in the House of Representatives, Texan Paul has co-authored and signed multiple marijuana-friendly bills that pushed the drug’s decriminalization.

The GOP candidate was a co-sponsor of the States’ Right to Medical Marijuana Act and supported the Personal Use of Marijuana by Responsible Adults Act of 2008. In June 2011, Paul paired up with Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., in June to support the Ending Federal Marijuana Prohibition Act, which would allow states to delegate their own laws regarding the drug.

Looks like all that greenery may have finally caught up to the Doggfather.

Snoop Dogg might have to find something else to do for a little while. On Saturday, Jan. 7 Snoop Dogg was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents and detained after agents inspected his tour bus along a highway in Sierra Blanca, Texas after detecting “the odor of marijuana emitting from the inside of the vehicle” during a routine border patrol check. A drug dog sniffed to find “a prescription bottle containing rolled marijuana cigarettes” and “two other containers containing marijuana weighing in all total of 0.130 lbs.” (Ironically enough, Snoop’s friend and collaborator, fellow cannabis enthusiast Willie Nelson was busted for marijuana possession in the same region in 2010.)

According to a statement from the Hudspeth County Sheriff’s office, Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, “freely admitted that the marijuana belonged to him and he was placed under arrest by U.S. Border Patrol agents and detained.” The rapper was “cited for possession of drug paraphernalia, given notification of court appearance on/or before January 20, 2012 and released.”

We’d thought Snoop had a lifetime pass for smoking weed. Who’d wanna arrest him for getting his roll on. It’s damn near legal anyway. We’re sure he’ll find a way out of jail time like all celebrities that get caught with the sticky.

But now that we know that, according to TMZ reports, Snoop is still actually behaving like he’s the same age as Wiz Khalifa? We’re ready to plan an intervention.

Snoop Dogg is in the middle of an international crisis … accused of sparking a phattie burbatty blunt in the middle of Lebanon, which ignited a criminal investigation … this according to a major Middle East concert promoter.

TMZ has learned … Big Snoop has been threatened with a lawsuit over an appearance he made in Beirut back in 2009 … an appearance orchestrated by Middle East concert bigshot Roger Kalaouz.

Kalaouz claims Snoop blazed up some weed in the middle of a concert after-party — which is illegal in Lebanon — and then featured footage of the puff session in a music video for his song, “That’s Tha Homie” (image featured above).

Kalaouz claims Lebanese authorities caught wind of the weed smoking — and launched a criminal investigation into his company … leaving his reputation “severely damaged.”

Kalaouz claims Snoop also promised he could be the rapper’s exclusive Middle East representative — but after Kalaouz started booking Snoop, Dogg’s people told him the deal was never officially authorized.

Kalaouz has fired off letters to Snoop’s people — demanding more than $280k in damages … and a commitment for Snoop to perform 2 concerts in the Middle East.

Wait, he wants how much??? Yeah, Kalaouz is buggin’ too.

But still, Snoop has been in the game way too long and made way too much money to let people have these kinds of opportunities to come up.
