Whitney Houston performed “I Will Always Love You” at her comeback concert in Malaysia this weekend. Poor thang. Those vocals ain’t what they used to be. All those rocks probably permanently disabled her ability to hit the high notes.

She does get an “A” for effort though, at least she didn’t forget where she was performing like Bobby did a few weeks ago.

Akon showed up to court today to plead not guilty to charges of endangering a minor and harassment for body slamming a white kid at a concert. The parents of the boy have pulled out their Ezel “slippin on some soap” come-up game.

Some media outlets are reporting Akon’s age as 34 based on court documents. Damn, we thought he was pushin’ 40.

Don Imus went back on the radio today and has two new nappy-headed sidekicks. Comedians Tony Powell and Karith Foster joined him and will be discussing race relations among other topics on the show. Imus also made a statement for the ladies of the Rutgers Basketball team:

“I will never say anything in my lifetime that will make any of these young women at Rutgers regret or feel foolish that they accepted my apology and forgave me. And no one else will say anything on my program that will make anyone think I did not deserve a second chance.”

Yeah, yeah, yeah, Don. We bet he would say pretty much anything to get his ass back on the air.

Chamillionaire will appear on Larry King Live this evening on the show that will discuss Don Imus’ return to radio and whether or not he deserved the second chance he is getting.

Montel Williams was in Savannah, GA promoting a low-income prescription plan and got a little too angry during an interview with a local newspaper. As result, he in turn approached one of the members of the writing team, a high school intern, and threatens her:

‘Don’t look at me like that. Do you know who I am? I’m a big star, and I can look you up, find where you live and blow you up.’”

What is it with these “celebrities” and them not wanting people to look at them a certain way? Montel is getting a little beside himself. First of all the fact that he came at a teenager like that is ridiculous, but what is even more ridiculous is that he told her that he was a big star. Oh yeah and the fact that he said he would blow her up is pretty ridiculous as well.

Widow of Philadelphia police officer David Faulkner is writing a book and Mumia Abu-Jamal supporters are not happy:

The New York-based “Free Mumia Abu-Jamal Coalition” is infuriated that Maureen Faulkner – the widow of Philadelphia police office Daniel Faulkner, whom Abu-Jamal was convicted of murdering 25 years ago – is scheduled to appear on the show Thursday to promote her new book, “Murdered by Mumia: A Life Sentence of Pain, Loss and Injustice.” The activists – who claim on their Web site to have demanded “equal time” but “as of yet have gotten no agreement to that” -will protest outside.

Faulkner states:

“After 26 years of this harrowing experience, the purpose of writing this book is to finally find a peaceful closure to my husband’s tragic ending. A jury of 12 convicted Mumia Abu-Jamal of murdering my husband, and for 25 years Abu- Jamal has been on death row acting as if he was a Hollywood superstar or political prisoner . . . He has a voice, and my late husband doesn’t.”

Jay-Z recently spoke on dealing with his father’s death and his relationship with Beyonce:

“When I was young, the person I looked up to most was my father, and once I experienced that hurt, the separation from the guy you thought was Superman, you never want to feel that hurt again.” And now Jay-Z is convinced his relationship with Beyonce has improved as a result of his emotional bravery. Jay-Z says, “I’m sure she thinks I’m closed off. I’m working on it. Just trying to deal with emotional issues, taking them on proactively. Before, I wouldn’t even address it.”

Well at least he’s making an effort, but there is still no reason for non-gentleman like conduct in the photo above. Maybe it will take another tragic event for her to get some chivalrous action going.

AK recently discussed marriage with JET Magazine:

I’m still figuring out a lot about myself and I’m so not ready to be married at all. That’s such a big commitment. I’m still really young and I still want to find out more about myself so that I can be mature and secure when I move in that direction…..I hope that people would possibly see me as someone who is a great person like them, who has given inspiration and hope and who has done something great for her people

She is smart, it doesn’t really sound like she is checkin’ for this Krucial character real tough. We wish them the best.

Jay-Z’s former homie, Dahaven , is getting a little more attention. He talked to New York Magazine recently:

Did you and Jay sell drugs together?

No, he ain’t do much selling drugs. I did all that work. He was just a good dude to be around. He was one of my best friends. I taught him some things, but I mainly kept him from being out on the street a lot. Whatever was mine was his. So, we shared clothes, we shared a whole bunch of stuff. We had sex with the same women plenty of times. We both got burnt! We had the drip. My mom took him to the clinic. My mom also got him out of jail.

Does Jay exaggerate his drug-dealing in his songs?

I’m telling you he overexaggerates. He was there to see things, but doing some big-time Frank Lucas–type thing? No. He nickled and dimed, but nothing on a major scale. He definitely didn’t sell nothin’ in Marcy. Spanish Jose, who he mentions a lot [in his songs], was a friend of mine. Jay didn’t have no affiliation to Spanish Jose.

You’re saying Jay appropriated your story?

He says it himself. He’s been talking about me since day one, on a lot of his albums. He mentioned me on The Black Album, and I hadn’t seen him in years.
