Peep Gnarls Barkley’s new video for “Who’s Gonna Save my Soul Now.” It’s a clever little concept – can’t knock these cats for operating outside the box.

We haven’t seen much of her since Major Harris was born in May, but here’s Tiny having some fun family time on the web cam with her daughter Zonnique and son King recently.

Hopeless criminal DMX was officially charged yesterday:
The star – real name Earl Simmons – was charged in Arizona on Tuesday with one count of theft and one count of stealing someone else’s identity. The indictment is just one of many legal woes the hip-hop star has faced so
far this year. In January, he was arrested for allegedly speeding down a Phoenix, Arizona freeway. In May, he was charged with suspected drug possession and animal cruelty following raids on his Arizona home.
A month later in June the star was arrested for allegedly attempting to buy drugs from an undercover officer, and earlier this month he was taken into police custody for violating his bail terms relating to a previous incident in June of driving without a valid license.
That’s just one more step closer to the clink for Mr. Simmons. Trife

Here he is, defending himself again. Bill Cosby says he is not guilty of “blacklisting” Terrance Howard:
“I don’t like something being out there that I know for sure isn’t true,” said Cosby. As previously reported, Howard was quoted as saying he confronted Cosby to ask why his small guest role on “The Cosby Show” ended up on the editing room floor. Howard explained: “I told him, ‘I’m a man just like you.’ He didn’t like it, and the casting agent [Hughes Moss Casting] never took my calls again.” Howard said he didn’t get another Hollywood gig for the next four years.
Cosby told us he has no recollection of the conversation with the 19-year-old Howard, does not remember Howard coming to his office and has never attempted to prevent any actor from booking gigs, strictly out of spite.
Cosby said he called Howard, who was in Italy, to find out why he (Howard) made those comments. “The young man said to me on the phone, ‘Mr. Cosby, [in] the conversation we had, you gave me information that was valuable,’ recalls Cosby, adding that Howard said he “tells people this.” Continue »

Bugs Monkey is stirring up one more legal battle:
50 Cent wants dollars — lots of ‘em — from Taco Bell for jacking his “good name” for a low-budget promo.
Fitty claims in a Federal lawsuit that the burrito slingers stole his identity by encouraging him to change his name to 79 Cent, 89 Cent, or 99 Cent as part of a less-than-a-dollar-menu promo. While he doesn’t address the total idiocy of the campaign in the suit, Mr. Cent does claim he wasn’t told about the ad until he heard about it in the news — whereupon he totally disavowed it.
Reps for Taco Bell didn’t immediately comment.
It’s doubtful that he’ll even see a penny for this wack lawsuit. This cat never grows tired of drama. SMH.

Nas just knocked Lil Wayne from the number one spot:
Titled or not, Nas’ 9th LP, Untitled lands atop the Billboard charts this week. The set sold 187, 078 copies according to Nielsen’s Soundscan, moving enough units to push Lil Wayne off the No. 1 spot.
So much for the “Best Rapper Alive.” Nas is on top now.

The Obamas are the headliners of the latest issue of People Magazine where they offer a rare look inside their family life. And we’ve included some pics of this dude named Luis Lay who is considered to be Germany’s official Barack Obama impersonator. We really don’t see the resemblance. They must really think we all look alike over there. SMH.

Time Magazine argues that Lil Wayne is the cream of the crop:
Lil Wayne has a smoke-scarred rasp that makes him sound like Redd Foxx covering Bob Dylan. It’s hardly the voice you’d expect from a 25-year-old rap star, but then, it’s been a busy 25 years. Whether Wayne is, as he claims, the “best rapper alive” is no longer even debated in hip-hop or commercial circles. Since June 10, when his latest album, Tha Carter III, sold 1,005,545 copies in its first week, he’s been the undisputed champ.
True, this cat’s sales may be off the charts, but they took it to the next level with this shyte. Best rapper alive? Whateva.
Shout out to Bill!
