Sho’nuff has passed away:

Character actor Julius Carry died Aug. 19 in Los Angeles of pancreatic cancer. He was 56.Carry appeared in more than 100 guest roles including “Hill Street Blues,” “Jag,” “Spin City” and “Moesha.”

He also appeared as the villain Sho’nuff in the cult pic “The Last Dragon.” Other feature credits included “The New Guy,” “Moving,” “World Gone Wild,” “The Man With The Red Shoe” and “The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh.” Born in Chicago, his first screen credit was in “Disco Godfather.” Carry is survived by his wife Naomi.

Also Ohio Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones passed as well:

Representative Stephanie Tubbs Jones, a longtime member of Congress and most recently a stalwart supporter of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, died today just after 6 p.m. Her hometown paper, The Cleveland Plain Dealer, reported earlier that the police found her unconscious in her car on Tuesday night, after seeing it weave erratically. She was seeking her sixth term in Congress. And she was a prominent member of the Congressional Black Caucus as well as a recent co-chairwoman of the Ethics Committee, which she helped to rebuild after a stormy period when the Foley page scandal rocked the House of Representatives.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to their family and friends.

Since it’s a slow day for celeb news, here is a little more Olympics drama for you to discuss at the water cooler:

The U.S. men and women both dropped the baton in the Olympic 400-meter relays Thursday night and failed to advance out of the first round. First, men’s anchor Tyson Gay, part of the American team that won the relay at last year’s world championships, did not get the red metal stick from third-leg runner Darvis Patton. Then, about 25 minutes later, women’s anchor Lauryn Williams flubbed her exchange with Torri Edwards, their baton dropping to the ground, too. At the 2004 Olympics, Williams started running too early and missed a handoff from Marion Jones in the final. Continue »

They are trying rain on Usain Bolt’s parade:

IOC president Jacques Rogge criticized Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt on Thursday for showing a lack of respect to other competitors after his record-breaking gold medal performances in the 100 and 200 meters.

“That’s not the way we perceive being a champion,” Rogge said.“I have no problem with him doing a show,” Rogge said in an interview with three international news agency reporters. “I think he should show more respect for his competitors and shake hands, give a tap on the shoulder to the other ones immediately after the finish and not make gestures like the one he made in the 100 meters.”

These motherfu*kers stay nitpicking for every little thing. This nicca just turned 22 years-old and is tearing up the track. Who gives a crap if he didn’t shake hands. Let the man enjoy his victory. SMH.

50 Cent has yet to speak on his blazed up crib:

The investigation into the “highly suspicious” fire that gutted the Long Island home owned by 50 Cent – but occupied by his ex-girlfriend and their son – is lingering because the rapper has not been interviewed by investigators.A fire official said investigators have not been able to conclude the investigation partly because the hip-hop star, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, has not met with the arson squad. The official said attempts have been made through Jackson’s attorneys to meet with him, but that he has not scheduled an interview.

“We interview every owner of every structure that goes on fire,” said the official. “It’s standard procedure.” Another source with information about the investigation said he was told Jackson’s unavailability is holding up the case, although the source did not know why Jackson has been unavailable.

He stays busy running his mouth any other time….Hmmmm

Mike Vick is still in financial turmoil:

Michael Vick is losing nearly $12,000 a month according to court documents filed Tuesday in his bankruptcy case. Vick’s Schedule of Assets and Liabilities, admittedly incomplete, were filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court and obtained by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Wednesday. In the documents the imprisoned Falcons quarterback lists average monthly expenses of $12,225 and a monthly income of just $277.69. The difference is $11,947.31. Vick’s monthly income is solely derived from a benefit pension plan and does not include the wages of 12 cents per hour he earns working in prison. Vick, serving a 23-month federal prison sentence on felony charges related to dogfighting, filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy last month. Vick lists total assets of just over $10 million. He also lists nearly $19 million is liabilities, which includes claims, some disputed, against him by creditors. Continue »

Usain Bolt is clowning over there in Beijing:

The dramatic ascendance of Usain Bolt as the world’s greatest sprinter continued Wednesday night at the Beijing Olympics as he left another group of elite runners far behind in setting a world record in the 200 meters and winning his second gold medal. Having obliterated the world record in the 100 on Saturday, he is the first man to win both the 100 and 200 at the same Olympics since Carl Lewis in 1984. Starting in Lane 5, Bolt took the lead in the first 50 meters and won in devastating fashion, pulling away from the field and winning by several meters in a time of 19.30. Michael Johnson had held the record of 19.32, set in 1996 at the Atlanta Games. Continue »
