According to Livesteez, people are angry as all hell in Oakland about the BART Shooting, and decided to take action:

Protests over the fatal shooting of an unarmed man by a Bay Area Rapid Transit police officer turned violent Wednesday night with windows broken, fires set and train stations closed. A few hundred protesters took the streets of downtown Oakland to condemn the shooting and call for criminal charges against 27-year-old officer Johannes Mehserle. Mehserle resigned from the transit agency shortly before he was supposed to be interviewed by investigators Wednesday. Mehserle is accused of shooting 22-year-old Oscar Grant of Hayward, who was lying face-down on the station platform when he was shot and killed early New Year’s Day. Mehserle was one of several officers responding to reports about groups of men fighting on a train, reports The Associated Press.

Protesters gathered in the afternoon at the Fruitvale BART station where the shooting occurred. It was peaceful at first but began to turn nasty after a splinter group left that site and marched downtown. Protesters set fire to a trash container and tried to overturn a police car, smashing the front window. Police attempted to disperse the crowd and smaller groups of protesters marched to different areas. Some protesters threw bottles, a window of a fast-food restaurant and other downtown stores were smashed and a car was set on fire during the rampage. Police in riot gear threw tear gas to try to break up the demonstration. Oakland police reported at least 15 arrests.

In this new year let’s try to demolish these injustices that are so frequent to minorities via police brutality.

Damn, y’all, they’re throwing babies in the dumpster in New Jersey. SMH:

Police in New Jersey have been searching garbage dumps looking for the body of a baby. Now, the search for the remains of a Jersey City baby has moved to Kentucky, but police fear that the corpse has already been incinerated.

Police have been looking for the body of Bashere Davon Moyd Jr. since Jan. 2, when the baby was discovered missing from a hospital morgue. Christ Hospital officials have not said where the body may have gone, but police say it appears it was thrown away with the hospital’s trash sometime between Dec. 21 and Jan. 2, The Associated Press is reporting.

Jersey City police chief Thomas Comey said in a statement posted Tuesday night on the department’s Web site that police were searching a landfill in Ashland, Ky., where the waste may have been transferred. But Comey was also fearful that the waste was sent elsewhere and may have already been incinerated.

EnviroSolutions vice president Charles B. Fromm said there is no incinerator at the Big Run Landfill.

The baby was delivered on Dec. 21. The 26-year-old mother, Kalynn Moore, of Jersey City, describes the incident as a terribly painful one, and said that the child was born alive but with a weak hearbeat. She said her son died about 20 minutes later as doctors tried to save him. But hospital officials say the baby was stillborn.

Moore’s lawyer, Michael Anise, said a death certificate and medical records from the hospital say the baby was stillborn, however, Anise said he is still reviewing it.

“The doctor’s notes that states it was lifeless,” Anise said Wednesday. “That is not our main focus as much as the fact that we had a baby’s body here.”

Whether the child was stillborn is an important legal distinction because New Jersey law does not recognize stillborn children as humans.

Anise, who has said that a lawsuit is likely, maintains there is no reason for the body of a fetus to have been thrown into the trash. Anise said the body was discovered missing when a funeral home worker went to pick it up from the morgue. He said a morgue employee was able to find the tags that were affixed to the baby’s shirt and blanket when he was taken to the morgue.
He had also requested surveillance video from the hospital hoping it may have shown what happened to the remains. But Wednesday, he said hospital officials told him that the tapes from cameras in the area had been reused, according to the AP.

Man, we all need to locate the ass of the “stellar employee” who physically put the baby in the trash, because it needs to be kicked. We all know that sometimes, you just can’t listen to your supervisor. Shame on the vast majority of New Jersey lawmakers for not recognizing stillborn babies as humans.
