Quote of The Day: Charles Barkley

Posted by Bossip Staff

Charles Barkley recently weighed on the Imus situation:

CHARLES Barkley thinks Don Imus should have been suspended, but not fired, for insulting the Rutgers women's basketball team. On last night's "Boomer Esiason Show" on MSG, the NBA star said, "It was an insult to those young ladies. . . . He owed them an apology. I think a suspension was warranted." Barkley criticized civil rights leaders for ignoring Imus' insults against Jews, Asians and others. "Anytime something happens, you [media] guys have a magnet on Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, like they speak for all black people . . . which is unfortunate and unfair. Al and Jesse have said racist things before. I don't think you can have selective prosecution . . . that's not right, that's not fair."

If Imus would have cut Jesse or Sharpton a check in the back office, everything would have been fine. See what happens when you don't want to be ho when it's time to be a ho. Imus needs to talk to Don Juan or Kim Kardashian to be put on some of this pimp-ho game and how it works.

Quote of The Day: Barack Obama

Posted by Bossip Staff

Barack Obama dicussing why he is the first American presidential candidate in history to have secret service protection this early in this presidential primary race:

“I don't spend a lot of time thinking about it or considering the details of this,” he added. “But just to broaden the issue, are there people who would be troubled with an African-American president? Yes. Are there folks who might not vote for me because I'm African-American? No doubt.”

If Kennedy and Reagan were capped on, Obama will probably have to duck at least once.

'Blood Diamond Russ' vs. Barack Obama

Posted by Bossip

Burn victim patient-looking Russell Simmons recently had some dismissive comments about Barack Obama. Blood Diamond Russ took a break from blonds and being a pawn of the 'conflict diamond' industry to ride against Obama for his post-Imus comments on Hip-Hop:

So at the end of the day, he’s controlled, too. That’s my point. He’s a mouse, too, like everybody else.

Blood Diamond Russ goes on to express a more positive view of presidential candidate John Edwards:

I talk to John Edwards more than I talk to anyone

Barack Obama's wife, Michelle talking to the Chicago Tribune:

"I heard that growing up, 'You talk like a white girl,' "One of the things I hope happens through our involvement in this campaign is that this country and this world sees yet another image of what it means to be black."

'Blood Diamond Russ' and Co. on Oprah

Posted by Bossip Staff

If you missed the "Post-Imus" discussion of Hip-Hop on Oprah, here is some of the footage. It looks like "Blood Diamond Russ" took a break from blonds and blood diamonds to chat it up. Common, Maya Angelou, and some sisters from Spelman make an appearance.

Now that Common showed up, can rappers stop crying about being on Oprah now? That is not her market or demographic, it's a business, don't take it personal.

'Blood Diamond Russ' Wants Hip-Hop Meeting at Lyor Cohen's Crib

Posted by Bossip Staff

In response to the Imus controversy, Russell Simmons is scheduling at a "private" hip-hop meeting at Lyor Cohen's crib (pictured above). Blood Diamond Russ disagrees with Al Sharpton's latest efforts to wage a political Jihad against record companies promiscuously pushing "bitches, hoes, and drugs" in their lyrics. Blood Diamond Russ says:

"I'm not saying all rap is good. But most of what I hear from rappers is an honest depiction of what they know. The poet is just reflecting the truth of society.

In Russell's world, Lyor's crib is the perfect spot to address these issues, you have to throw the issues to people who really care. When is Blood Diamond Russ going to get impeached?

Quote of The Day: David Cordero

Posted by Bossip Staff

The Barack Obama campaign was forced to distance itself from a sculpture of Obama as a Jesus-messianic figure entitled "Blessing". The creator of the piece says:

"All of this is a response to what I've been witnessing and hearing, this idea that Barack is sort of a potential savior that might come and absolve the country of all its sins," Cordero said. "In a lot of ways it's about caution in assigning all these inflated expectations on one individual, and expecting them to change something that many hands have shaped."

Russell Simmons Plans March Against Tony Yayo and G-Unit

Posted by Bossip Staff

Following the alleged attack by Tony Yayo on Jimmy Henchmen's 14 year-old son, Russell Simmons and Al Sharpton are planning a march to protest Yayo's cowardly actions. Yeah, we can talk about Yayo punking lil kids, but Old Man Russell, what about all the lobbying you're doing to clean up the dirty image of the diamond industry in Africa? When can we get a march to protest that? Oh yeah, someone may want to tell Russell marches are played out like the peace-sign and counterfeit leaders . SMH.

Quote of The Day: Barack Obama

Posted by Bossip Staff

Today's LA Times talking about Barack Obama's opposition to this moronic Iraq war:

Obama wasn't in the Senate in 2002. But he made his views crystal clear in a speech on the same day that Clinton and 28 other Senate Democrats voted to authorize the use of force against Iraq: "I don't oppose war in all circumstances…. What I do oppose is a dumb war…. A rash war. A war based not on reason but on passion, not on principle but on politics."

Quote of The Day: Chris Rock

Posted by Bossip Staff

Chris Rock was asked by Life Magazine if the country is ready for an African American president:

It's ready for a retarded president, why wouldn't it be ready for an African American president?

...I like Al Gore, actually. (A) He’s more qualified than everyone that's running on the Democratic side. (B) If he won or didn’t win, he has an agenda to help people and make this a better world. . . . Maybe Barack will win, but I probably won’t see a black president. There’s real equality when you don't notice [race], you don't even talk about it. I probably won’t live to see that.

Louis Farrakhan speaking about Barack Obama avoiding Black leaders like himself, Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton:

"If avoiding me would help him to become president, I'd be glad to stay in the background, because of the taint that's on the minister."I like him very much. I like him, he has a fresh approach," the Nation of Islam's leader said. "And I'm fearful, because there's a structure in our government that no matter who sits in the seat of power, there are forces that one has to contend with if one is able to attract the masses of their votes. Barack Obama is doing quite well."

Is Barack a Beyonce Stan?????

Posted by Bossip Staff

Def Jam Chairman LA Reid hosted a $2300 a plate fundraiser for Barack Obama Monday night and ran into Beyonce.

Via New York Daily News:

One lady needed no introduction. Feasting his eyes on Beyoncé, the candidate said: "I never do this, but can I ask for your autograph?" The admiration seemed mutual as they posed for a photo. "I want a copy of that picture!" said Obama

Barack probably wants some of Beyonce's Jelly. Or he knows her stalker fans are "deep" and is rounding up their support. You know you're going to find that picture he took with Beyonce on his campaign website this week.

Dick Cheney has previously suffered four heart attacks was recently treated for a blood clot in his leg after an Asian tour. Panelists on Bill Maher's show were discussing the removal of comments from a blog praising the idea of Dick Cheney being assassinated. Bill Maher is getting into some trouble with the "PC" crowd for saying the following:

"I have zero doubt that if Dick Cheney was not in power, people wouldn’t be dying needlessly tomorrow."

If George Bush and Cheney died ten years ago, how many lives do you think would have been saved?

Quote of The Day: Barack Obama

Posted by Bossip Staff

NPR Host Steve Inskeep recently asked Barack Obama "Will you need to dominate (the black) vote in order to win?

Obama: "I will be speaking to themes that are important to that community, but I don't expect to get monolithic African American vote... I think we have some strong candidates in the field and it would be presumptuous of me to assume that people would vote for me simply because of my race."

Recent polls by CNN suggest:

"Whites are more likely than blacks to say America is ready for a black president, which may be part of why much of the African-American community is cool to the presidential candidacy of Sen. Barack Obama."

Hollyweird Disses Hillary, Rides with Obama

Barack Obama was spotted this week rounding up support in Cali. Hollyweird moguls including Dreamworks co-founder David Geffen have dissed Hillary Clinton in favor of Barack Obama who some are calling the "Black JFK". Others in Hollyweird including George Clooney, Eddie Murphy, Jennifer Anniston, Ben Stiller, Morgan Freeman, and Barbara Streisand have started forking over money and supporting Obama.

George Bush Smoked Rocks Too

Posted by Bossip Staff

Senator and Presidential hopeful Barack Obama recently said that his past may come back to haunt him. While in his 30's, Barack wrote in his memoir that he smoked rocks when he was younger. If smoking rocks in your past disqualified someone for being President, then George Bush and "Slick Willy" both would be flagged at the gate. George Bush has previously stated he will not deny he used cocaine in his life which pretty much means I smoked rocks but I am not taking any chances by telling the truth. In other Obama news, CNN mixed up Barack and Osama Bin Laden. SMH. Oh yeah, Barack Obama's middle name is "Hussein".

Rudy Guliani vs. Hillary/Barack Obama in 2008?

Via New York Daily News

Rudy Giuliani is taking the first step toward an official run for President. George Clooney to Barack Obama: A Homie, You Need to Run for President

Posted by Bossip Staff

Via US Weekly:

Following a report in a British-owned celebrity magazine that had Clooney saying that Illinois Senator Barack Obama would indeed be tossing his hat into the 2008 presidential ring, the actor has asked his rep to personally confirm that he does not own a crystal ball.

"I said I've talked to the senator [Barack Obama] and begged him to run, and I hope he does," Clooney said in a prepared statement from his rep. "There's no news scoop from me. He'll make up his mind on his own schedule."

Is America ready for Barack? I can see the Republicans cooking up negative ads on Barack smoking rocks in college and his middle name being "Hussein". It may be too many hypocritical gay republicans for this trick to work in 2008 .

What Kinda Women Does Tennessee Senate Candidate Harold Ford Jr. Date?

Creflo Dollar: Jesus Says Obey George Bush, Support Bush Policies and Wars

Via Creflo's website:

"President Bush is worthy of your prayers and support. He is a man who rises early every morning to seek God and His wisdom through prayer and the study of the Word. This is not the time for Christians to picket, carry protest signs or throw their opinions around. The election is over, and the man in the Oval Office is the one we, as Americans, voted in. Numbers 32:7-13 makes it clear how God feels about a nation divided during a time of war."

"In the name of Jesus, I declare that I will not allow any corrupt communication to proceed out of my mouth concerning President Bush or others in leadership (Ephesians 4:29). "

"I declare that he is a man of wisdom, and he is strengthened and guided by the Holy Spirit. I wholeheartedly support the decisions he makes for this country (1 Timothy 2:1-2).
"

Creflo sounding like he is looking for some more federal tax breaks. Creflo sounds like the slavemaster and his House Negro helper on the plantation justifying slavery with the Bible. Someone blinging like Creflo probably wants to maintain this world's order. Although I can barely understand what this preacher is saying sometimes, he rides against Creflo here.

"I Met Harold at the Playboy Party": Republican Campaign Ad against Harold Ford Jr. Called Racist

LMAO@ the girls voice "I met Harold at the Playboy party". This republican attack ad is being called racist by the NAACP and other political figures. After denying he ever attended the Playboy party, Tennessee Senate hopeful Harold Ford Jr. now says he was there and that he likes "football and girls". Click here for the audio of Harold Ford saying he never attended a Playboy party on ABC's This Week.

According to the NAACP:

"It is a powerful innuendo that plays to pre-existing prejudices about African-American men and white women," Hilary Shelton, head of the Washington NAACP office, told the Los Angeles Times.

Besides the fact that Ford was caught lying, is this ad racist and if so, why? I don't see a lot of Black women at Hef's crib. According to the NAACP logic, the Republicans would have to use a Black woman to represent Ford being at the Playboy party. I hope Ford wins but he needs to stop being a politician (lying). This ad does appear to race-bait (Black Men, White Women in the south) by finishing:

"FORD IS JUST NOT RIGHT". The coded message appears to be FORD IS JUST NOT WHITE.

BLACK MAN BEHIND ‘DUBYA’ ASSASSINATION IN NEW FILM: ‘Death of a President’

If this movie came to life such as the profiling of Arabs after the prophetic movie The Siege with Denzel Washington, you could probably expect areas like Harlem and Watts to be bombed within 24 hours. The "Blacklash" would likely be similar to the treatment of Arabs post-911 but on steroids.

Via Eurweb:

Imagine this: President George W. Bush gets assassinated and a black man is eventually discovered to be the murderer. The scenario wasn’t too far fetched for British filmmaker Gabriel Range, whose team from Film Four in Great Britain made it the plot of their new mockumentary, “Death of a President.”.....
