The hottest chick in the game, Michelle Obama, discusses her husband, Senator Barack Obama last night at the first day of the Democratic Convention in Denver:

“He was raised by grandparents who were working-class folks, just like my parents, and by a single mother who struggled to pay the bills, just like we did. And like my family, they scrimped and saved so that he could have opportunities they never had for themselves,” she said.

“And Barack and I were raised with so many of the same values. Like you work hard for what you want in life. That your word is your bond and you do what you say you’re going to do. That you treat people with dignity and respect, even if you don’t know them, and even if you don’t agree with them.”

That is exactly what we need in the office, someone who is human just like the rest of us. Not like that shady ass Bush legacy. YES WE CAN!!!

Spike Lee sticks up for Barack in regards to some people saying he isn’t black enough:

“First, I go by the ‘one-drop rule,’” he said in Denver, where he has come to see firsthand his man accept the Democratic nomination for President. “One drop [of black blood], and you’re black. The truth is, every African-American is biracial. Go back far enough, and you’ll find the massah was in the slave quarters. You can’t be black and go to Harvard Law School? You can’t be black and be articulate?”

Lee also “respectfully disagrees” with Jesse Jackson, who threatened to castrate Obama for publicly chastising missing black fathers. “You can’t hide that stuff,” Lee told us. “Single-parent households, high-school dropouts. The statistics are there for everybody to see. We have to confront that head-on. Don’t be like the New England Patriots – think that you just have to show up,” he preached. “The Republicans are going to try all kinds of hijinks. Shenanigans. Trickery. Flimflam. They’ll try to hornswoggle us, bamboozle us. It’s not a done deal!”

“When Barack won the nomination, I just started bawling,” confesses Tyra. “I started calling all these people, and everybody was talking to me like I was crazy. A man was being held in Florida on Thursday on charges he told classmates at a training seminar that he would kill Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama if he is elected, according to a law enforcement official and court documents. The threats came just days before Obama was scheduled to visit Florida and were made by a person discovered to have ammunition, a handgun and other weapons, authorities said. An affidavit filed by a Secret Service agent in U.S. District Court claims that Raymond Hunter Geisel, of Marathon, Florida, threatened to “kill, kidnap and cause bodily harm upon a major candidate for president of the United States, that is, Senator Barack Obama.”

A search of Geisel’s vehicle and a hotel room in Miami, where Geisel was attending a bail bondsman training class, found a 9-mm handgun, ammunition that included armor-piercing and rifle bullets, police-style emergency lights, body armor, a machete and two canisters of tear gas, among other military-style items, according to the document. Agents say that classmates of Geisel reported that, between July 25-28, Geisel used a racial slur toward Obama and said “if he gets elected, I’ll assassinate him myself.”

Ludacris has received some heavy criticism over the lyrics of his new political track, “Politics: Obama is Here.” Unfortunately, Obama is catching some heat in the process:

Presumptive Democrat presidential nominee Barack Obama has condemned an endorsement song from Ludacris, in which the Atlanta MC criticizes rivals Hillary Clinton and John McCain.

The song “Politics: Obama Is Here” contains celebratory bars on Obama’s success (“The first is destined and it’s meant to be”), but turns venomous when Obama’s rivals are addressed.

Ludacris references the bitter Democratic primary battle by stating “Hillary hated on you/So that b**ch is irrelevant.”

Regarding Republican nominee John McCain, the rapper rhymes:

“McCain don’t belong in ANY chair unless he’s paralyzed/ Yeah I said it cause Bush is mentally handicapped/ Ball up all of his speeches and I throw ‘em like candy wrap.”

Through his campaign team, Senator Obama released a statement condemning the song as offensive and typical of much of Hip-Hop’s current lyrical content. “As Barack Obama has said many, many times in the past, rap lyrics today too often perpetuate misogyny, materialism, and degrading images that he doesn’t want his daughters or any children exposed to,” explained spokesman Bill Burton. “This song is not only outrageously offensive to Senator Clinton, Reverend Jackson, Senator McCain, and President Bush, it is offensive to all of us who are trying to raise our children with values we hold dear. While Ludacris is a talented individual he should be ashamed of these lyrics.” Continue »
