Warren, one of the most influential religious leaders in the nation, has championed issues such as a reduction of global poverty, human rights abuses and the AIDS epidemic.

But the founder of the Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California, has also adhered to socially conservative stances — including his opposition to gay marriage and abortion rights that puts him at odds with many in the Democratic Party, especially the party’s most liberal wing.

“[It's] shrewd politics, but if anyone is under any illusion that Obama is interested in advancing gay equality, they should probably sober up now,” Andrew Sullivan wrote on the Atlantic Web site Wednesday.

People for the American Way President Kathryn Kolbert told CNN she is “deeply disappointed” with the choice of Warren and said the powerful platform at the inauguration should instead have been given to someone who has “consistent mainstream American values.”

One thing is for sure, you can’t please everybody and that is especially true when it comes to politics. What do Bossipers think about Obama’s choice of extra-conservative pastor, Rick Warren to speak at his inauguration?

A toddler whose remains were found inside a suitcase in Philadelphia this spring was starved to death by members of a religious cult, including his mother, in part because he refused to say “amen” after meals, the police said. Ria Ramkissoon, the mother of the boy, was charged Sunday with first-degree murder, and Baltimore police officials said that three other members of a group called 1 Mind Ministries have also been charged with first-degree murder. The police and Ms. Ramkissoon’s family say the group is a cult. Ms. Ramkissoon, 21, was being held in the psychiatric ward of the Baltimore Central Booking and Intake Center.

This cult ish is way out of hand. How the heck are you going to starve a 15 month old baby for not saying amen, then shove him in a suitcase? What kind of sick fu*ks are they?

Ashanti’s new blood-splattered e-card promotion has sparked up some controversy:

The police commissioner has hinted that there may be a tie between the recent attacks and the music video for Universal/Motown recording artist Ashanti’s single “The Way That I Love You.”‘

[In a recent interview] Ashanti endorsed the violent imagery in the video. ‘It matches incredibly with the record, It’s very cinematic as opposed to a regular music video. I found out my man is cheating on me, and cut to the story, you find him in a bloody tub. The message is simple, Ashanti told the site: ‘Don’t cheat.’”

“Less than 24 hours after a group of concerned parents and religious leaders gathered outside the Universal/Motown offices in Los Angeles to protest the bloody promotion for Ashanti’s “The Way That I Love You” single, the singer’s label has pulled the offending “Gotchagram” clip from her site. And, according to one of the protest leaders, the decision came after his group threatened to picket Ashanti’s performance at Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Sunday.”
