Despite a sour loss in 2008, the Vietnam P.O.W. called Obama a “Patriot” and hushed the haters; many from his own party and the tea party movement who have claimed “that his policies and beliefs make him unworthy to lead America.”

McCain added that Obama gave a “terrific speech” in Tucson, Arizona as he “comforted and inspired the country” during a tribute for the victims of the shooting frenzy that took place nearly a week ago.

Take notes America, McCain says “every American who participates in our political debates, whether we are on the left or right or in the media, to aspire to a more generous appreciation of one another and a more modest one of ourselves.”

Would it be safe to say that McCain has Obama’s back? Or is this sudden change of heart just for show?

The maiden voyage of Oprah’s new flagship set sail on Saturday and although the expectations were sky high for the media mogul the critics aren’t quite ready to bathe her in praise just yet.

…Caryn James, the former New York Times critic who now blogs at IndieWire, wrote that the network had “a whiff of spirituality, a huge amount of life-style fluff, and a surprising layer of substance,” though she cautioned that the shows on offer–which include reality shows centered around celebrities such as the Judds, Shania Twain and Sarah Ferguson, as well as programs with Oprah stablemates like Dr. Phil and Gayle King–were not for the non-Oprah fans out there. James sounded an optimistic note about some of the more serious documentary programming to come on the channel as well.

Salon’s Matt Zoller Seitz committed himself to watch an entire day of the network. Zoller Seitz assured readers that he was not a fan of Oprah, and that he had begun his experiment by resolving not to “succumb to [Oprah's] cult-of-personality Amway malarkey.” He had plenty of bile for some of the shows on the channel, and wrote that the will.i.am-penned theme song almost had him “weaving a noose from nylon recycling twine and scrawling a farewell note.”

However, he wrote, the channel slowly started to work its way into his brain, and he found himself starting to care about Jay-Z while watching an episode of OWN’s “Master Class,” where celebrities talk about their life and talents. By the end of the day, Zoller Seitz said, “I have succumbed to Stockholm syndrome and am making lists of clutter to remove from my own home and resolving to enroll immediately in a cooking class…damn you, Oprah Winfrey, and Happy New Year.”

The most negative review came from The Root’s Jennifer Mabry. She pronounced herself “disappointed” by the programming for OWN, which, she said, “seems content to follow the new television model of programming that exploded in the wake of the 2008 Hollywood writers’ strike: Find anyone with a heartbeat and a willingness to have cameras follow them during their ordinary day-to-day life, and voilà — we’ve got ourselves a TV show!”

Listen, nevermind these critics, Oprah didn’t make all that money by putting her name on some bullsh*t. The Miami Heat started the season on shaky ground too, and now look at them. Fall back and watch how this thing plays out…haters!

Last night Bron Bron and his merry men handled their business last night in Madison Square Garden as the Heat defeated the Knicks 113-91, in their 11th straight win. Looks like some of the early season Lebron haters have had to eat a little crow as the team continues to gel and gain momentum.

James crushed the Knicks, scoring 32 points on 14-24 shooting. He also grabbed 11 rebounds and added 10 assists as Miami topped New York, 113-91, for its 11th straight win. It was James’ second triple-double of the season. From the opening tip, James was possessed. The Friday night crowd was amped, as the Knicks are performing better than they have in a decade. The team is 16-11, thanks in large part to MVP-caliber play of forward Amare Stoudemire, the free agent the Knicks signed instead of James. Less than a minute into the game, James sank a three-pointer, and hit another long jumper moments later. After each shot went in, James looked toward the sideline, and gave the Madison Square Garden crowd the “hush up” look. Though he did not go as far to talk trash with Spike Lee, who was sitting in his customary front row seat.

Miami is starting to mesh, and has now strung together one of those 11-game winning streaks fans were expecting all along (actually, many anticipated an 82-game streak for the new look Heat). “Boos are ok,” James afterwards. “I understand. It’s something I’ve gotten over my career on the road. I’ve had to adjust to it. The fans here are great. They’re very passionate and want their team to win and if you’re not on their team, you suck.”
After the final buzzer, a few New York fans couldn’t help hurling a few more obscenities James’ way. “I know,” he said while walking to the locker room, having wrapped up another astonishing performance on his “You Wish You Had Me” tour. “I know.”

Its good to see The Heat start to win like people expected. Now, all the have to do is win a ring this summer and the haters will multiply ten-fold. Get your popcorn ready…
