Actor/Comedian Charlie Murphy, lost his wife of 12 years yesterday in their New Jersey home. Tisha Taylor Murphy passed away in her sleep due to a longtime struggle with cancer.

Nashville police have revealed that the gun found at the murder scene was purchased by his mistress, Sahel Kazemi, just two days before the shooting. Shakir Stewart reportedly committed suicide in Atlanta:

New York City-based Def Jam Recordings says that the executive that succeeded Jay-Z as the head of the legendary hip hop music label has died. The company said in a statement that executive vice president Shakir Stewart died on Saturday. The cause of death could not immediately be confirmed. Stewart signed such artists as Rick Ross and Young Jeezy to the label before being named in June to the post once filled by Jay-Z. In that role, Stewart oversaw the development of new talent, managed producers and guided the label’s vision. He traveled between Atlanta and New York for his job, and was a graduate of Morehouse College.

This tragic chapter in their lives is nearly closed. Jennifer Hudson and her family will hold a public memorial service:

A public memorial service for Jennifer Hudson’s slain mother, brother and nephew is planned for Sunday at the South Side Chicago church where the Oscar-winner grew up singing. “The Hudson family welcomes anyone who wishes to attend and pay their respects to these three beloved members of the Chicago community,” reads a statement from Hudson’s rep. Neither the singer-actress nor her sister, Julia, the mother of slain 7-year-old Julian King, are expected to attend the public observance. The service will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Pleasant Gift Missionary Baptist Church, located at 4526 S. Greenwood in Chicago. The memorial will be preceded by a private service.

The legendary group Four Tops lost an original member today:

Four Tops lead singer Levi Stubbs, who possessed one of the most dynamic and emotive voices of all the Motown singers, died Friday at 72. He had been ill recently and died in his sleep at the Detroit house he shared with his wife, said Dana Meah, the wife of a grandson. The Wayne County medical examiner’s office also confirmed the death. With Stubbs in the lead, the Four Tops sold millions of records, including such hits as “Baby I Need Your Loving,” “Reach Out (I’ll Be There)” and “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch).” The group performed for more than four decades without a change in personnel. Stubbs’ death leaves one surviving member of the original group: Abdul “Duke” Fakir. Stubbs “fits right up there with all the icons of Motown,” said Audley Smith, chief operating officer of the Motown Historical Museum. “His voice was as unique as Marvin’s or as Smokey’s or as Stevie’s.”

MC Breed is currently on life support after collapsing during a basketball game in ATL:

Flint, Michigan rapper MC Breed is in critical condition at an undisclosed hospital in Atlanta, where he is on life support due to kidney failure, AllHipHop.com has confirmed. His manager, Darryl Morris, said the rapper, born Eric Breed, was playing a game of pickup basketball yesterday evening (September 5) in Atlanta, when he collapsed and fell unconscious. “He had to be revived three times,” Morris told AllHipHop.com. “He had to be rushed to the hospital where they diagnosed him and told him his kidney’s have failed.”

Now, MC Breed, 36, is in serious need of a kidney transplant and is seeking a donor to help save his life.
