Natalie Cole’s health has been failing her as of late:
Ailing soul star Natalie Cole is grateful she made it to the end of the year (08) after a summer of poor health left her fearing the worst. Cole was diagnosed with liver disease hepatitis C in February (08) and, by the summer she could hardly move. The singer admits that the act of walking from the bedroom to the kitchen was “an ct of Congress”, and worse was to come.
Shortly before Cole was rushed to hospital in New York after suffering kidney failure, she was a mess. She reveals, “I was in a wheelchair because my legs got very feeble. I was very fragile. I could not lift my head off the pillow… I was just falling apart.” Following the health scare in September (08), Cole has to undergo dialysis three times a week – and she has been forced to cut back on her promotional commitments. Cole says, “I have never really taken the time to rest and it really is ridiculous.
When you’re sick, you need to sit down and take care of yourself.”
After all the drugs and God knows what else, we sincerely hope Natalie is able to get the care she needs to live as fulfilling a life as possible. Damn.

Natalie Cole’s most recent bout with Hepatitis C was nearly fatal but she pulled through:
It’s been a bumpy road lately for Natalie Cole – the singer recently revealed she has been struggling with Hepatitis C, a disease she thinks she contracted in her drug-ridden past, and has been in and out of the hospital. And now she has a new health battle to fight. “They told me… ‘Your lungs have filled up with fluid and your kidney is functioning at 10%,’ ” Natalie reveals to Entertainment Tonight about a recent health scare in NYC. “They would have found me either unconscious or dead. I think I was on my way out.” The “Unforgettable” singer is still battling Hepatitis C, and she’s now on dialysis.”I was in denial that I was close to dying until after 3-4 days of being hospitalized and them putting me on dialysis,” she says. “I had a lot of time to think. The first thing I knew is that I will never work the same way again. Three hours a day, three times a week (during dialysis) I just sit there and am glad that there is something to keep me going.”
Natalie’s next step to wellness could involve a serious step – an organ transplant.
Ms. Cole’s messy past coming to haunt her should be a warning to all people. Do not do drugs. The side effects may take their time to come back and f*ck you up. FACT

Natalie Cole has been released from the hospital after being there for a couple of weeks:
Ailing Natalie Cole – who suffers from Hepatitis C – is out of hospital and resting in bed at home. The 58-year-old singer cancelled her October tour dates and cleared her schedule after being hospitalized in New York in September. “She is back at home and she seems to be doing pretty well,” said a rep for the Grammy winner. “The Hepatitis C is pretty much under control.”
The daughter of legendary singer Nat King Cole confirmed in July that she had been diagnosed with the liver disease, saying she probably contracted it from drug use more than 30 years ago. According to the rep, Cole is considering resuming some of her touring schedule in November.
We wish her the best, we heard she was on dialysis and everything. Those rocks are no joke.
