Hip-Hop USED to be about trend-setting and being original… Unfortunately in 2011, from time to time, hip-hop been about trend-following . We’re not just talkin’ about the fans here, even MCs nowadays often get caught up in whatever new slang, phrase, or idea is “hot” at the time.

After listening to the radio for about ten minutes we compiled some of the most egregious trends that are either played out or should be played out.

As horrific as 9/11 was for all of us, can you imagine what it must have been like to the George Bush on that morning??

As the president’s personal photographer and head of the White House Photo Office, Eric Draper was with President George W. Bush for nearly every day of his eight-year term, often just a few feet away.

On the morning of September 11, 2001, he was there, too.

“My job was to document the president, to follow him everywhere,” Draper told CNN in an exclusive interview. “But I had no idea what stories, what events would play out … September 11 changed everything.”

Draper, a former newspaper and wire photographer who is now a freelancer based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, ended up at President Bush’s side on that fateful day and made some of the most iconic and memorable images of the president as the tragedy unfolded.

Weezy rocked it pretty hard this Sunday… Hard enough to make folks wonder if he’s been listening to “The Carter’s Sabbath.”

If you were watching the MTV VMA’s Sunday you may or may not have noticed a Bing commercial featuring two Ohio DJ’s transplanted to New York. But the biggest commercial for DJ Terry Urban, may actually have been Weezy’s performance which eventually broke down into a live mashup sampling Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath…

An interesting idea yes… but Terry put out his “The Carter’s Sabbath” tape two weeks ago — mashups of Weezy vocals over hard rock instrumentals — which people have been going crazy over.

Just when you thought the beef between “Watch The Throne” cohorts Hov & Kanye and Wheelchair Jimmy… we mean Drake was cooling off, it seems the trio have been exchanging verbal jabs at each other lyrically. It all started off with Drake’s diss at the end off the Rick Ross and Lil Wayne assisted jam, “I’m On One”.

Hate the rumours, hate the BS. Hate these FKN allegations, I’m just feeling like the throne is for the taking. Watch me take it!

Then later on his recently released, “Dreams Money Can Buy”, he throws even more shade.

Man, have we come a LONG way since these times.

Before Twitter and Facebook hijacked our lives, before we read the news on a screen and Susan Boyle became an overnight celebrity, Katie Couric and Bryant Gumbel pondered a simpler question for their “Today Show” viewers:

“Can you explain what ‘Internet’ is?” a dumbfounded Couric asks during this hilarious vintage clip the folks at Buzzfeed were kind enough to resurrect today.

The daytime TV hosts continue by expressing their bemusement at such features as the “@” symbol (“That little mark with the ‘a’ and the ring around it? Katie thought that was ‘about.’”) and e-mail messages (“What do you write to it? Like…mail?”).

This is an ode to LL Cool J ,as well as, a lesson to young MC’s and Hip Hop artists. It’s a cliche to say that styles reoccur; however, LL’s steez is making another round. He was dope in his day, period. Watch his move when he says he is notorious and will crush you like a jellybean. SMH
