Elderly Man Arrested For Shooting 9-Year-Old During Road Rage Incident

There have been two arrests in the road rage shooting on Campbell that happened shortly after 6 p.m. on July 17.

The two men have been identified as 19-year-old Oscar Santa Maria along with 20-year-old passenger Carlos Santa Maria.

Oscar has been charged with one count of drive-by shooting and Carlos has been charged with one count of drive-by shooting and four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Police said the shooting started as a verbal fight between two drivers going toward Campbell on Irvington.

As the two vehicles turned onto Campbell, people in both vehicles began shooting at one another.

One driver stopped when he realized a 9-year-old girl in his backseat had been shot.

The little girl was shot in the leg and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No one else in the vehicle with her was hurt.

Child protective services were called and the children have been temporarily placed with family members.

The investigation in still ongoing.
