Police say a father fatally shot his son and injured his girlfriend on the 1100 block of Haverford Road in Ridley Township on Saturday night.
The gunshots and screams were captured on surveillance video after a 3-year-old’s birthday party.
“It was chaos. I didn’t know what to do. She was shot at least four times, bleeding from her mouth, blood all over the place, kids hollering. I didn’t know what to do except call 9-1-1,” said Danessha Hill.
Danessha says her daughter’s party was wrapping up around 11 p.m. on Saturday, and her younger sister Shyema Washington,26, was waiting for her estranged boyfriend Tyrell Styles,26, to drop off their son, Cion.
“I’m thinking he had this plan. He waited till the party was over,” said Danessha. “He went to his cousin’s birthday party and he ended up with two gunshot wounds yes he ended up dead,”
Police say during the drop-off, Tyrell, who allegedly had a history of domestic violence, shot Washington 4 times in the mouth and body before shooting Cion in the forehead and ankle.
Shyema stumbled back into the house. Police found Cion bleeding in the backyard.
Both victims were taken to Chester Crozier Medical Center. The child was pronounced at the hospital and Shyema underwent surgery and is currently in critical condition.
The suspect, Tyrell Styles, 26, is the mom’s boyfriend and child’s biological dad.
Police say he fled the shooting scene and led police on a chase. He struck two cars, but kept going until police stopped him in Sharon Hill.
Authorities say Styles fired one shot into his head as police were approaching his car. Styles was taken to HUP where he was put on life support, and later was pronounced dead.
Danessha says Shyema was moving on from the abusive relationship, planning to start a new job and buy her own home. She says her nephew was innocent.
“I just can’t imagine what he was thinking. When you’re 5 you know who your parents are just looking at your dad, just sad,” she said.
