Todd Tucker Says He Worked For All His Success And Doesn’t Depend On Kandi
Todd Tucker, who “Real Housewives of Atlanta” fans know best as Kandi Burruss’ new husband, is one person who is not new to TV…well, production that is.
Via S2S Magazine reports:
Though his mother-in-law doubted his work ethic once upon a time, Todd recently offered details on how he stayed on his grind and achieved success. Plus, he gave helpful tips to young leaders on how to be just as successful.
Some may have not known who Todd was before his appearance on “RHOA,” but he is no newbie to the game. Todd, taking a leap on faith when he was younger, moved to Los Angeles while in high school and that’s where it all began.
Getting his first taste of production, a friend of his who happened to be a producer at that time, gave him a shot with finding locations for music videos.
“Long story short, I was able to find a few locations and the video director picked one of my sites to shoot from,” Todd told Black Enterprise.
Todd kept on with the music video scene eventually becoming a production manager, working with celebrities from “American Idol” winner Kelly Clarkson to rap veteran Busta Rhymes.
Later he landed a job with BET. During that time he learned early on that developing strong relationships within this industry is key. “You are only as good as those relationships,” he said.
While at BET, he helped develop shows such as “Road Platinum” with Bow Wow and Omarion, and now he’s producing his own show called “Hollywood Divas,” which will air on TV One in October.
Surprisingly, Todd didn’t go to school for production. He now believes that regardless of your learning experience, informal or formal, you still have to possess the same qualities to succeed. “I got the opportunity. I hustled. I worked hard. I learned, and I payed attention,” he said.
While many people want to be in the entertainment industry, Todd let it be very clear that success just doesn’t happen over night, you have to work hard.
“Becoming your own boss, you will have to humble yourself. Be ready to grind and work so hard that you make them feel like they can’t do it without you. Observe and learn around your environment,” he advised. “If you can do those things you will get there, and once you get there, always reach back to give someone else a shot.”
Todd has put up with more than enough when dealing with Kandi and her meddling mama. The RHOA hubby recently was gifted with an expensive Stingray Corvette by his wife Kandi as early birthday gift last week:
