Last year, veteran WWE bruiser Darren Young came out as the first openly gay wrestler to beat men into submission. In similar fashion, NFL prospect Michael Sam also revealed to the world that he could potentially be the first openly gay player in a physical and hyper-masculine sport.
Despite the WWE’s initial support of Young, he now appears to feel a bit slighted as his company has extended Sam an offer that he was never given…
World Wrestling Entertainment has invited Michael Sam to “Raw” next Monday to tell his side of the story.
The WWE is giving an “open mic” to Sam if the first openly gay football player drafted shows up to “Raw” in Baltimore on Sept. 8.
The St. Louis Rams released Sam on Saturday. The Rams took him in the seventh round during April’s NFL Draft.
Sam has yet to respond to WWE’s invitation. Coincidentally, “Raw” is up against “Monday Night Football” on ESPN next week
Rather than bite the hand that feeds him, Darren took to Twitter to retweet messages from fans who called hypocrisy on the WWE.
