The public assassination of Adrian Peterson continues…
Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton Says Adrian Peterson Should Be Suspended From Vikings
Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton has called on the Vikings to suspend running back Adrian Peterson, calling the Pro Bowler’s alleged child abuse “a public embarrassment” to the team and the state.
“It is an awful situation,” Dayton said in a statement. “Yes, Mr. Peterson is entitled to due process and should be ‘innocent until proven guilty.”
“However, he is a public figure; and his actions, as described, are a public embarrassment to the Vikings organization and the State of Minnesota,” he said.
“Whipping a child to the extent of visible wounds, as has been alleged, should not be tolerated in our state. Therefore, I believe the team should suspend Mr. Peterson, until the accusations of child abuse have been resolved by the criminal justice system,” he said.
Dayton, who grew up in suburban Minneapolis, said he remains a lifelong Vikings fan, despite allegations that the former NFL MVP and face of the franchise was a serial child abuser.
Isht gets real for a black
Dayton’s call to bench Peterson comes one day after hotel chain Radisson said it was pulling out of its sponsorship deal with the team.
Peterson, 29, turned himself into police and was arrested Saturday after he was indicted on felony child injury charges for allegedly lashing his 4-year-old son with a tree branch.
On Monday, allegations surfaced that he’d violently disciplined a different 4-year-old boy — a son from a separate relationship — leaving the child with scars on his head, KHOU-TV reported.
