Florida Special Needs Bus Driver Arrested For Picking Up Prostitute
Via NY Daily News reports:
A special needs bus driver in Florida made an unscheduled stop Thursday. He wanted to pick up a prostitute, but instead drove into a police sting, according to reports.
Rodrigue Macharie, 43, a Sarasota County Area Transit driver, was on duty when he motored his empty bus to North Tamiami Trail where he attempted to negotiate a $20 sex act with what he thought was a prostitute, police said.
“The bus driver pulled down to a dead end street and parked the bus,” Sarasota Police Sgt. Demetri Konstantopoulos told WFLA. “After waiting a couple of moments, seeing that the undercover officer wasn’t going to come over to his vehicle, he got out of the vehicle, out of the bus, and walked to the undercover officer.”
Macharie, of Punta Gorda, was charged with “procure for prostitute: solicit another for lewdness” in the 9:30 a.m. sting and released on a $120 cash bond.
Macharie has been placed on administrative leave, according to WWSB. The bus driver has been with the county for five years and had a spotless record.
The driver must be tired working his stick shift and need someone to take it over desperately. Welcome to Florida!
