The Boondocks Will Never Be on BET

An episode of the Boondocks that was scheduled for January 7th, never hit the airwaves on Cartoon Network. The episode was to put BET executives Debra Lee and Reginald Hudlin on blast saying that they just recycle old MTV reality shows and make them black. Here is an excerpt from the show:

“Weggie Rudlin, my Harvard-educated President of Entertainment, tell me about the eeevil shows you have in development,” the woman (Dr. Leevil) barks to her executive as she pets a hairless animal and places her pinky finger at the corner of her mouth.

Weggie Rudlin, a man who strongly resembles BET’s President of Entertainment, Reginald Hudlin, stands before her meekly and says: “My Harvard education tells us that our goal is to take all the s***ty reality shows that MTV did five years ago and make them black… Next month we’re going to have our first award show honoring video hoes, or as I like to call it, a hoe-wards show.”

The Boondocks is hilarious. We wonder why this episode didn’t make it to Adult Swim. Hmmm.

    @ helltothenaw, cosign 100%.

  • Yes I Said It & I Meant It Too

Well it’s obvious that all BET does is jack ideas from MTV and add black faces. Now they’re bitting VH1’s Best Week Ever Format. It’s sad. It really seems as though BET has no real creative writers.

It’s a funny show, but they need to SQUASH all of that vulgar language. We as black folks don’t ALWAYS have to be sooooooooooo lewd to be funny. I hate to see little kids cussin’ that like when it ain’t necessary. Blacks shouldn’t always have to be seen as CUSSIN’, CONFRONTATIONAL, ANGRY, or STUPID. We can express our creativity in the same manner without all the negative stuff. And if you’re the type of person who’s honest with yourself atleast half of the time ———— You’ll admit that WE are soooooooooooo funny without it AND everybody wants to be just like us (except for the bad credit at times —– even if they don’t want to admit).

Aaron McGruder is a comedic genius!! The boondocks is sooo funny. I need the dvd set. He says the things that people think, whethere its good or bad. All I know is that his cartoon is truthful and funny all at the same time.

BET lost it’s identity as soon as johnson sold the company, there’s not a show on BET that I’d watch, 50 was right about them, how do you block out the word “kill” in a video on 106 & park, then show american gangster and the wire after that?

  • maaly

    boondocks is the greatest!

  • JD

LMAO. I agree with you Mr. Anderson, he is underappreciated. He’s telling the truth….

  • Bird

Wow I didn’t think BET had any power. I guess I gotta give them a lil tiny bit of credit if they stopped what sounds like a dead show from being aired.

  • Drea

I have been waiting for the newest episode of The Boondocks since the ne year!!! It’s the truth though! BET does what MTV does! I understand they’re own by the came company (with VH1 included) but really????? COME ON NOW!

  • Bird

I meant to say a dead on show. Geez!

  • PrettyMissSunshine

But then when Bet does try to be creative, they come up with shows like the Ultimate Hustler, which is a rip off of making of the bad/apprentice if you ask me? That show was one of the worst shows that BET ever let hit the air. What was the significance of it? And what ever happened to the winner?

  • Mo'Ree

HA! I love whenever they are watching BET and they pan to the TV all you see is ass cheeks and big chains…so much like real music videos. Now the BET boondocks theme song is stuck in my head: “booty butt cheeks, booty booty butt cheeks” ROTFL

  • Southern Belle 225

    Shame on you BET!!

And it is true about BET not paying its professionals the market rate.

Yo! MTV Raps was first, actually. It premiered in August, 1988. Rap City didn’t debut ’til sometime the next year. I remember this because, at the time, I thought it was a travesty. In fact, I still do.

  • moviewatcher

Love Boondocks. Stopped watching BET and lot of the stuff on television long ago

  • Taj

    I love the Bookndocks!

LOL. If you haven’t seen the episode where Martin Luther King comes back to life I highly recommend it.

Also the famous Brenda Richie and the Karate episode.

LMAO I’m lol and folks are looking.

  • Yes Yes Y'all

@moviewatcher…I agree. I haven’t watched BET since 2005 because it’s basically BS now. When they started recycling MTV’s crappy shows, I had enough. And “The Boondocks” is the one of the best comedies on TV right now. Period. But who new BET had THAT kind of power. Wow.

@tj, That MLK episode is my favorite, right after the R. Kelly goes to trial episode. The “Thugnificent” episodes are also funny as hell. Lol.
