The wealth gap is not only growing between rich and poor, it is also ballooning between Blacks and Whites. That gap has been increasing since the recession began and continued as jobs and financial issues continued to grow. Recently the Pew Research Center reported that the median White household was worth $141,900–this is a whopping 12.9 times more than the typical Black household, which was worth just $11,000.

NYC Mayor Bill De Blasio Asks For End To Police Protests

New York City mayor Bill de Blasio asked Monday (Dec. 22) that the citywide protests against police brutality be suspended in light of recent events. Mayor de Blasio has requested that the protests resume after the funerals of fallen NYPD officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu. After the shooting deaths of the officers carried out by troubled gunman Ismaaiyl Brinsley, tensions in the city between police officers and protesters have reached critical levels.
