Nick Cannon isn’t pulling any punches when it comes to squashing rumors that his upcoming album will contain “controversial” lyrics about his estranged wife Mariah Carey and their highly publicized divorce.
Cannon took to Twitter to directly deny that he recorded any songs that criticize Carey, writing, “I will never say anything negative about @MariahCarey. We are forever a family rooted in love.”
Cannon, 34, and Carey, 45, got married at a private ceremony in April 2008. The couple, who share two children, confirmed in August that they had separated.
Since their separation, Cannon has been vocal in his support for Carey, defending her against negative criticism as a result of their relationship ending.
Today, cannon continued to defend his estranged wife and their right to privacy.
“I am always an open book but Personal matters are just that ‘Personal.’ So please respect my family and respect the process,” Cannon tweeted.
He also sent a message to media outlets he believes are perpetuating the rumors, writing, “In other words, all you vultures and bottom feeders searching for a story can go #ChokeYourself #Ncredible.”
