Atlanta Man Shoots Entire Family And Then Himself In Murder Suicide

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office will hold a press conference at 10 a.m. Monday to release additional details on a shooting spree that left five people dead. But the question weighing on the minds of family and friends may never be answered: Why?

Investigators believe Cedric Prather shot his son, ex-wife and her boyfriend Saturday afternoon inside a Douglas County home. Then, Prather allegedly chased his own two daughters and another young girl outside, where he shot all three, according to witnesses. One of those girls died, and the other two were critically injured.

Neighbors were startled by the screams and the gunfire. Before police and paramedics could get to Willow Tree Circle, some on the street did all they could to help the injured.

After killing the two adults and two of the children, Prather shot and killed himself, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Latoya Andrews and Joseph Brown, both 33, died at the scene of the shooting inside the Amber Forest home where she lived with her four children, according to police. Brown’s daughter was one of the two critically injured, friends said Saturday.

Late Sunday, an online fundraising page was created to assist with burial costs for Andrews and two of her children. An organizer of the fundraiser said Andrew and her children did not have insurance.
