Ringling Bros & Barnum & Bailey Circus Phasing Out Elephants
Sorry kids, circus elephants will soon be a thing of the past, at least for Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus.
Via NY Post reports:
The nation’s leading big top act – Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus – will phase out elephants by 2018, succumbing to years of pressure from animal rights activists.
The Associated Press reported that Ringling Bros. circus’ parent company, Feld Entertainment, will have its stable of 43 pachyderms live out their days at the 200-acre Center for Elephant Conservation in central Florida.
Reps for Feld Entertainment in Palmetto, Fla., could not be immediately reached for comment on Thursday.
This is good news, right? It was horrible to hear about the way trained elephants are treated so we’re glad to find out the hard worked animals will be able to retire to a safe and relaxing place.
