Robin Wright and Kevin Spacey Among Netflix Show Stars Who Spoke About New Season
President Obama is a huge fan of “House of Cards” – but swears he is nothing like main character Frank Underwood.
That’s according to “House of Cards” star Robin Wright, who shared what the Commander in Chief had to say to her about the Netflix show: “I met President Obama and Michelle at the White House Correspondents Dinner,” Robin Wright said Monday at a press conference to promote Netflix’s new season. “And before he even shook my hand – I was just shaking, I was so nervous – he leaned in and he said, ‘I just want you to know that I am not as bad as Francis.’”
“He reiterated it about three times,” Wright, joined by co-star Kevin Spacey and other stars of the streaming service’s popular shows, said.
“She (Michelle), on the other hand, is more like you,’” Wright said Obama told her. “Anyway, she and I kind of like, winked.”
Season 3 of the cult favorite hit the ‘net two weeks ago, and self-admitted stans like “Orange Is The New Black” star Uzo Aduba said she’d already watched all 13 episodes and had to make an effort not spoil it for others.
“I found with my friends, you find out where they are in the season, and you say ‘Ok, you’ve watched that before,’” Aduba said. “Lets discuss one through four.”
Spacey, who plays “House of Cards” main character Frank Underwood, the show’s following doesn’t surprise him, because people have always loved watching those in power.
“It does seem to me that if you go back to Greek drama, Shakespeare, that people have been interested by political figures, and royalty from the beginning of time,” Spacey said. “I think there has always been interest and fascination on how people achieve power and retain power, keep power.”
