End Of The Road: 27 ’90s R&B Groups We Loved
With the return of the iconic Jodeci and Boyz II Men celebrating their 2 year performance residency in Las Vegas, we can’t help but miss the golden era of R&B.
Hit the flip to reminisce about the best ’90s soul groups!

Jodeci The best R&B group ever? According to some! One thing that’s for sure is they dominated the ’90s with their bad boy image, raw gritty soul and ballads.
Boyz II Men Fans loved them for their amazing harmonies and acapella performances… Oh yeah and sweet ballads!
H-Town They won hearts with their freaky classic “Knockin’ Da Boots.” While they were largely underrated, real R&B fans can acknowledge there will never be a soulful singer quite like the late Dino.
Dru Hill Sisqo and original member Woody have both said they wanted to be just like Jodeci when they came out. They brought that Baltimore soul to the game.
Jagged Edge This ATL group also had the ballads and the up-tempo tracks. The twins Brandon and Brian won us over with the lead vocals.
Blackstreet Even with member changes they always managed to keep it funky. No diggity, no doubt.

New Edition They started in the ’80s but had just as much a hold on the ’90s.
Mint Condition The definition of a band. We appreciate Stokely and his amazing vocals for leading.
112 They kept it hot with both ballads and dance tracks.
Silk Known for their sexy material, amazing harmonies and the uniqueness of their two lead vocalists Lil’ G and John John.
Next Climbed the charts in the late ’90s… and who didn’t fall in love with R.L.’s looks and vocals?
Tony! Toni! Tone! This group out of Oakland produced hit after hit after hit.
Color Me Badd Purely on the list because this song will never die… Gotta love how they flipped the Betty Wright sample.
Shai Another group to win over R&B fans with their harmonies and acapella performances.
Soul For Real Like a few other ’90s groups, they had that “sweet” sound.
Playa That gritty southern soul that could come only from the south. Louisville, Kentucky to be exact. DeVante Swing of Jodeci was also credited with discovering them!
Rude Boys The Levert family knew talent when they heard it.
Troop The group has had five number one singles and ten top ten singles on the Billboard R&B Charts. That says a lot!
Public Announcement Just because R. Kelly left doesn’t mean they couldn’t hold it together… well for a little longer anyway.
Ideal This group was highly underrated. Their debut album was solid and Bryan Michael Cox did it on their single “Creep Inn”.
Intro… Kenny Greene!!!! You know you are amazing when you nail a Stevie Wonder cover and get Stevie to be in your video.
Hi- Five Teddy Riley did it with the production on their first album. They had that sweet soul sound that several ’90s groups possessed.
SOLO They often are forgotten, but that soul will live on forever. We also appreciate their Sam Cooke covers.
Portrait These guys harmonized well… Don’t remember? Look up their vocals on The Robert Townsend show against H-Town.
Bell Biv DeVoe They showcased their vocal prowess and their energy through both slow and up-tempo tracks. Poison!!
